LOCKDOWN
Who: GLaDOS and everyone.
What: Testing.
Where:Aperture Smash Academy
When: August 13th
Warnings: Homicidal AI, science, testing, and more science.
Reference: Partner ooc post.
You know, it's funny how things work in life. Chell had had returned to the school after feeling guilty, in order to warn everyone about the impending danger that would befall them. What she didn't know, however, was that once the warning goes out, all it does is enrage the AI. So before anyone would dare leave, all the exit doors in the school became boarded up with panels. Any windows that may have been at the school were closed off, preventing any other means of escape.
For an hour or so, nothing happens besides that. No announcement, no warning, nothing. That is, until panels on the floor open up underneath any unsuspecting victim. The panels will lead to tubing, sending them downwards. Down into a plain white room. Thankfully, for those of you who didn't put on your Long Fall Boots, there will be a cushion to land on. Other than that, the room itself is fairly empty. The only things of mention is a table containing the equipment from the beginning of the week (if you didn't take it), a door (that won't open unless you have all the equipment), and...another person: your partner. Meanwhile, a message from GLaDOS chimes in over the intercom:
"The lockdown of Smash Academy is now complete. For those of you who are curious as to what is going on, a manual testing initiative has been added to the school's curriculum, for students and staff alike. In order to advance, you will need to work with your partner to complete the test. Failure to do so will result in...dangerous consequences.
No one will be allowed out of their current chamber until they are equipped with a communicator, a pair of Long-Fall Boots, and a Dual Portal device. Once those objects are in hand, you may start testing.
That is all."
Good luck testing, Smash. You're going to need it.

Slowly, he put the gun on his hand, disliking the way it fit snugly onto him. It was almost too tight, and seemed to almost come to life. But he kept it on; if he was trapped here, then he would need self defense. That was legal, wasn't it? If he was being held against his will and at the risk of death...
"I'm not sure," he said hesitantly, still trying to be calm, "But I don't think we're going to get out of this room until you equip that thing. I just... have a feeling."
no subject
"What the heck are these for?" Marie asked, not looking at Phoenix. Instead, he studied the gun, trying to read all of the numbers and things printed on it.
no subject
"I don't know... It's unlike any gun I've ever seen." He paused again, attempting to examine it.
"Stand back, I'm going to test it out." He had no idea what would emit from the end of the gun, but he didn't want to hurt Marie or himself.
If and after Marie stood back, Phoenix then hesitated, aiming the gun at a white-colored wall. Flinching, he fired at the wall, and found that there was no explosion, no bullet hole, no loud noise. All that appeared was an orange-colored ellipse. Huh.
Knowing that there was another trigger on the gun, Phoenix flinched once more, aiming the other trigger onto another part of the wall, when he found another ellipse appear. But this time, instead of it being a color, it seemed to be a hole, and the orange ellipse also turned into a hole. What trickery was this?
"Huh? What's going on?"
no subject
Although he wasn't characteristically curious, Marie couldn't keep himself from inspecting the holes Phoenix had created in the wall. He walked over to the blue hole, and peered into it; careful not to actually lean into it. From where he stood, he could see himself through the portal. He looked back at Phoenix. Back at the blue portal, to the orange portal, and back to himself through the blue portal. Did he really look so scrawny from the shoulders down? Uuuughhh.
After a great deal of hesitation, Marie clumsily stripped off his hoodie and unceremoniously tossed it through the blue portal and out of the orange one.
"... What."
no subject
His eyes grew wide at the revelation, realizing now exactly what those ellipses were for.
"They're like... some kind of
title dropportal!" he observed aloud. "We must be having to test using these things..."((Should we move to the testing thread now?))
