BLIND DATES GROUP 2

What: BLIND DATES!
Who: Anyone who was sent a note with an C# &D# table numbers.
Where: Off-campus restaurant. AND BEYOND!
When: November 19th
Warnings: Who knows depending who is here.

[The second group's restaurant is Asian Fusion Dinning. The rooms looks fancy but down to earth and the menu is very varied. Still expensive, however, but you've been given a 100$ budget for eating each!

The lighting is dim, with flickering, oil candles on every table. The place is decorated in stylish black and browns, with Japanese and Chinese wallscrolls and paintings. The overhead
music is traditional yet somehow futuristic Asian music, to fit with the theme. Your servers are all dressed up for the occasion, and speak broken English.

Beside each candle, there's a card. Each card has a different letter-number combination.

Find your table!

OH YEAH AND FEEL FREE TO LEAVE THE RESTAURANT AND GO ANYWHERE ELSE!]

He gave a wheezy little laugh and said, "No, you're right! We can walk while we talk." He began advancing forward to stroll out the door with Cyrus.

The taller man walked in silence until they were out of the building. This was irregular for him, both remaining silent for that long and to have company. But even though he had been in Final Destination City for nearly a year, it was only a small fraction of his life in Sinnoh, and he was still starting over. He had to make as many connections as he could.

Although feiging socialness usually irritated him, Rhys was at least a decent man. Yes he had been a warrior, but Cyrus had the impression that it wasn't of his own volition. Rhys was devoted to healing others...was it because he couldn't heal himself? Cyrus was sure he could get some use from that observation.

Once they were away from the building, in the crisp fall air, he spoke. "The air...it is similar to the air atop Mt. Coronet."

Sorry for my lateness! %)

"Mt. Coronet..." An unfamiliar place, and he was curious about it. For one moment, he breathed in the air to test its feel. Cool and refreshing. "I've never heard of such a place. Is it where you came from?"

[identity profile] will-be-god.livejournal.com 2011-01-09 06:13 am (UTC)(link)
"It is. The Sinnoh region, quite a ways from here." He could give distance in kilometers, miles, or fractions thereof, but it seemed useless to do so.

"Mt. Coronet dominates the region, stretching nearly from coast to coast. On its peak is said in legend to be the home of the gods, the Spear Pillar. Fitting...Coronet is said to have been where the Sinnoh region began."

Only a couple hours ago or so did Rhys have a conversation with Misty about a similar topic, so a feeling of deja-vu rushed by, which then turned into a stroke of recollection. The Sinnoh region! That was the place Vashta had come from, the place that was cold and located up north. Excitement leaped out in his eyes and he clasped his hands together, smiling at his new discovery.

"Hey! It's funny; just a little while ago, when I was still at the school, I had a conversation with someone about that very place. Um, well, Sinnoh, not Mt. Coronet. Anyway, we spoke of how snowy that Pokemon region can get, and that it must be quite a splendid sight. I wish to go there, someday. I had a friend who once attended the school; she was a Pokemon. Not just a Pokemon, but a Pokemon of legend! I hadn't known that until today. You must have heard of Darkrai, if you've come from there." He awaited his response eagerly.

Well, eagerly at first, but then a sharp twang of further recollections, a voice from the past, hissed in his ears. The ethics teacher was dangerous. A message that he couldn't read, but others had translated it for him... Suddenly, it felt as though a stone had been dropped on his gut and his mind grew frantic. Oh, I'm so stupid! All along, I'd been talking to him all night, and Vashta tried to warn me...! But... Cyrus is such a nice person. He doesn't seem dangerous at all. I wonder what Vashta could have meant by "dangerous"? Dangerously good looking? no wait that's not Anyway, he should probably watch what he says, especially when it comes to Vashta...

Oh, but he was such a terrible liar!

[identity profile] will-be-god.livejournal.com 2011-01-09 11:33 pm (UTC)(link)
Cyrus paused in his step. "A pokémon of legend...Yes, I have heard of Darkrai. The study of legends is my main field of research, you see." Turning to face Rhys, he noticed the uncomfortable expression on the man's face. Not that he knew what it was from, but he went with it anyway. "Darkrai is a dangerous creature, drawing those around it into nightmares. And you have spoken with it...perhaps you are blessed, dedicated to a higher calling. I am similar in that regard."

[identity profile] sicklypriest.livejournal.com 2011-01-10 03:53 am (UTC)(link)
The priest took the same pause, but with a bit more clumsiness added. "B-blessed? I wouldn't say that..." he refuted humbly. No, they had just met by regular old circumstances! He didn't think he could call that 'blessed', although making friends was always a nice little blessing in and of itself. "And besides, I'm sure plenty of people have spoken with her. I'm definitely not anything special to her." And she had been dangerous... ooh, what a night that had been. But he knew she meant no harm in the first place.

So far, so good. It wasn't like Rhys knew any of her deep, dark secrets, anyway. Vashta had always been secretive, so much in fact that she was reluctant to show him what her true form looked like. A wisp of ease settled upon him at that recognition.

[identity profile] will-be-god.livejournal.com 2011-01-14 05:38 am (UTC)(link)
Well, that was disappointing. And Rhys had failed to take the bait about his last sentence. But he continued anyway, both in speech and step.

"I see. Yet to meet one that is called a god..."

Maybe that would drag something out of him.

[identity profile] sicklypriest.livejournal.com 2011-01-18 06:29 pm (UTC)(link)
"So... where you come from... she is regarded as... a god?" Even after hearing her called 'legendary', he was still on the edge about this, speaking with bated breath. Or maybe it was just mildly chilly out. Who knows!

[identity profile] will-be-god.livejournal.com 2011-01-19 02:26 am (UTC)(link)
"Darkrai...yes." Simple enough. "It is rarely worshipped, but it is invoked to aid in restful sleep. Was yours affected by knowing her?"

[identity profile] sicklypriest.livejournal.com 2011-01-27 02:07 am (UTC)(link)
"No... not that I'm aware of. I'm sure I've had a good night's rest plenty of times while staying here, and none of them stand out to me." Or maybe Cyrus was talking about the negative effects? His mind tipped back to the memory of her lashing out at him against her will, but that didn't have much to do with restful sleep. In fact, after the messy ordeal he didn't find himself at a loss of adequate night's rest.

Thinking about sleep... Rhys did remember one night that had been unforgettable. It happened on his first or second night or so. The episode felt like a dream within a dream, really; a portal where all the nightmares of the students and staff had opened to him. It was far worse to him than any self-conjured nightmare of his imagining. Could it be that Vashta had been involved? Or was it just an unfortunate coincidence? It might be best not to bring that up.

[identity profile] will-be-god.livejournal.com 2011-01-27 02:54 am (UTC)(link)
"I see. Perhaps you were lucky." It was almost cryptic, as direct as it was, and he stopped walking. "Have you an idea of where to go?"

[identity profile] sicklypriest.livejournal.com 2011-02-02 07:40 pm (UTC)(link)
"You mean... from here?" He motioned to where they were standing. "Not really, but... I don't think I could stay out here much longer." The priest frowned a little more, then added with a touch of remorse, "I hate to spoil the fun, but... I don't want to ruin it even more by lapsing into worse condition." And that was true. And he hated that it had to be that way. Just imagining staying out for long gave him a phantom reminder of the ache he should feel if he did. What a nuisance he was, sometimes. Cyrus wouldn't think badly of him for it, would he? He had very much liked being called strong several moments ago...

[identity profile] will-be-god.livejournal.com 2011-02-03 10:30 am (UTC)(link)
"Very well." It was entirely neutral. "I will see you back to the campus then. If I may, what is the nature of your illness?" Perhaps it was simply late--he had been up for nearly 30 hours--but Cyrus thought he had asked it already.

[identity profile] sicklypriest.livejournal.com 2011-02-08 07:40 pm (UTC)(link)
GO TO SLEEP, CYRUS.

Cyrus had asked a similar question, but Rhys didn't think he was repeating himself, since while it was similar it was still a different question and Rhys was the one to bring it up again. "Mostly fatigue, but I'm also coming down with a cold. You know how that goes, I bet... I probably shouldn't have gone out like this, but I managed just fine in the end, didn't I?"

[identity profile] will-be-god.livejournal.com 2011-02-18 06:19 am (UTC)(link)
Cyrus wasn't used to being ill. The fever he had soon after arriving had nearly sent him back to Sinnoh, and his scattered colds around the year were a rarity. For all his overwork, he had been healthy most of his life.

"I suppose we both did. I had my doubts about the motivation behind this endeavor...no, I still do. Yet it was a...pleasant evening."

[identity profile] sicklypriest.livejournal.com 2011-03-01 02:51 am (UTC)(link)
"I can definitely say the same to you," Rhys replied warmly and with much sincerity. "I'm glad I had the chance to speak with you."

Sure there had been a moment of uncertainty regarding Cyrus's alleged character, but in the end Rhys really couldn't see what Vashta was talking about. They never got around to actually eating the food, and sure Rhys was coming down sick, but he was still able to say with confidence that he didn't regret it one bit.

[identity profile] will-be-god.livejournal.com 2011-03-03 06:25 am (UTC)(link)
"I anticipate future conversations." Cyrus bowed slightly, simply a matter of formality. Although he did respect Rhys, something he could say about very few.

He would have a place in that new world. Cyrus would make sure of it.

"For now, I must depart. Until then, farewell."
