Biology - Pikmin

As I had promised last class I have brought in the potted Pikmin to class. They're way easier to carry around when you're not almost only three feet.

*There are three pots on his desk, one contains a red Pikmin, the other a yellow and the last one a blue*

I couldn't bring in the purple or white types, sorry. They're an awful pain to grow in numbers if you ask me. Well anyways, they may look like plants but they're so much more than that!

Note the ominous glow around the tip of the stem, this Pikmin has reach the flower stage. should get it out before it reverts back to leaf form again... Now WHY they glow in the ground or when dismissed from duty I still have yet to look into.

So...I guess before I go on any further everyone in here can observe them if they'd like. Just be careful and don't hurt them.

I need a break anyways so take as long as you'd like. How convenient for myself. I hope I don't look too exhausted. I was up all night again...

I must say, Professor... These Pikmin are very intriguing as I, myself, have a flower grown on my back. However, I do not revert to my past form.

If I may ask, do each of the colors display different traits? I wonder how they can live and grow within the soil as well. Do they not breathe?

If you checked over the notes from last time I explained each type. It's okay I always have copies! :) *hands out one to Ivysaur* They breathe oxygen, that's why non-blue Pikmin die when underwater as they cannot breathe that way.

Hrm... About the leaves and the flowers... Depending on what it has, does the Pikmin's behaviour change at all?

Behavior wise? Not really. They ARE however psychical differences. Flowers for example run much faster than Pikmin of leaf or bud stages. They're also stronger in battle, and sometimes if they die they leave pollen that sprouts a new Pikmin the next day.

It may look like a mouth but those are actually gills! Blue Pikmin use them to breathe underwater, like what I said last class. It's so interesting how this Pikmin is amphibious yet the others aren't.

Hey Mr. Big-Nose, sorry I'm late to class. I was having a bit of difficulty getting these guys to stop running off and attacking flowers, or pulling up grass, or just trying to beat up rocks.
*motions to the five red Pikmin behind him*
They're nuts.
Also, you wouldn't believe just how crazy it was for me. I mean, I planted the one seed, then that one became two, and then that two was four. There'd be more, if there was room. I guess I always did have a way with plants, hahaha! I guess I should be thankful I bought this watering can.
*holds it up*

...I wonder if I could cross breed them with a rose...
