Biology - Pikmin

As I had promised last class I have brought in the potted Pikmin to class. They're way easier to carry around when you're not almost only three feet.

*There are three pots on his desk, one contains a red Pikmin, the other a yellow and the last one a blue*

I couldn't bring in the purple or white types, sorry. They're an awful pain to grow in numbers if you ask me. Well anyways, they may look like plants but they're so much more than that!

(OOC: OLOLOL NO EFFORT IN SKETCH BELOW)

Note the ominous glow around the tip of the stem, this Pikmin has reach the flower stage. should get it out before it reverts back to leaf form again... Now WHY they glow in the ground or when dismissed from duty I still have yet to look into.

So...I guess before I go on any further everyone in here can observe them if they'd like. Just be careful and don't hurt them.

I need a break anyways so take as long as you'd like. How convenient for myself. I hope I don't look too exhausted. I was up all night again...

I must say, Professor... These Pikmin are very intriguing as I, myself, have a flower grown on my back. However, I do not revert to my past form.

*observes some more*

If I may ask, do each of the colors display different traits? I wonder how they can live and grow within the soil as well. Do they not breathe?

(I wonder if I'd be able to dissect one... but I don't think the Professor would like that too much.)

*Gently touches the back of his finger to one of the petals.*

Hrm... About the leaves and the flowers... Depending on what it has, does the Pikmin's behaviour change at all?

*fascinated by the glow of the red one* ... do you mind if I pluck one of them? I would like to see how these critters look?

That glow is... really kind of pretty. Imagine what a field of them would look like at night!

I... I also wouldn't mind seeing one out of the ground!

More than plants, you say? I'm intrigued. I third the notion of plucking one out! *also observing the red one* The glow is rather enchanting...

Oh, cute! And it's a plant! Right up my alley!

*pokes the red one's flower* Oh, it's so pretty... I wanna see it come out. Hmm... I wonder... plants like music...

*starts humming cheerfully to the plant*

*the tiny custodian dragged itself into the classroom by crawling underneath the door. It momentarily had its plug stuck there, but managed to pull it out after a little effort*

...

*very quickly the robot zig-zagged past the students' feet, and made it to the feet of the professor, and pulled on his pant leg to get his attention, before it opened its head compartment and pulled out squirter full of a nectar-like substance*

Ah.. thank you for the permission...

*gently grasps the stem of the Red pikmin and tugs* .. tricky little things to get out of the ground.. *tugs again, this time pulling the Pikmin free*

*as soon as the robot is set down, it quickly moves between the two pots, and waits for the instructor to continue the lecture, figuring he would like to explain what the nectar does to the creature before it squirts them*

.... *tilts his head curiously, blinking at the little critter and speaking quietly* I did not know they could speak..

*leans in slowly, hoping not to scare the little guy*

*pulls one out hesitantly* *pikmin jumps off free and resides on his head*

...mana? :O

[identity profile] robot-rob.livejournal.com 2008-06-28 12:41 am (UTC)(link)
Ah.. some sort of language of their own...

*picks up the red pikmin softly in his clamps, letting it climb onto the flat part of his "hands"*

[identity profile] too-dimented.livejournal.com 2008-06-28 12:44 am (UTC)(link)
*grinning at the newly unearthed Pikmin* Hmm... I'd think, judging by what you said, the glow signifies inactivity?

Can we pluck the other ones out?

[identity profile] blondprodigy.livejournal.com 2008-06-28 12:44 am (UTC)(link)
*Carefully loosens the dirt around the blue sprout before tugging it out of the ground.*

There we go! It's... so cute. Hey, little guy~

[identity profile] pkloveomega.livejournal.com 2008-06-28 12:53 am (UTC)(link)
*peeks at the blue Pikmin over Jeff's shoulder*

Ah...! It's adorable!

I... I want one. How are they as pets?
...Wait, Rope Snake would probably eat them.

*peers at the blue Pikmin beside Jeff, grinning* Hey, it's got a little mouth! ...I think!
