This is the time to remember, though they will not last forever...
Who: Everybody! Yeeaaah!
What: Graduation and Prom!
When: The evening of June 8th.
Where: The Stadium.
Warnings: Everything. Everyone. You know who you are. You Know Who You Are.
Whether you've been here every year for what seems like eternity, or this is your first time, nothing quite compares to the feeling of Graduation Day.

The Stadium was decked out in school colors and the lights were bright. The stage was simple, classy and bereft of decoration barring the happy, smiling faces of your Headmasters and Teachers. (Those of them who do smile, at any rate.) Congratulations on your impending steps forward, those of you who made it through the school year! Hope your gowns are clean and your hats are appropriately be-tassled!
Of course, such pomp and circumstance can't go on forever. Once all the formalities and diplomas and congratulatory Hand shakes are out of the way, we have Prom! There's tables and chairs set up at the other end of the Stadium, and a huge table covered in all manner of finger foods guaranteed not to dribble or splatter on your rental tux or beautiful dress - so long as you're careful, anyway. And don't forget the dance floor and the plethora of music picked just for all of you to dance to! Tonight should be a night to remember!
-------
[[OOC: Hey there, Smashies! You know the drill, right? It's Graduation! Here's last year's if you need a refresher on how this works. The basics go like this - Graduatiuon itself is broken into several parts. Once the last part, Dismissal, is posted up, that's your cue to make your own top-level threads for Prom! But please don't hesitate to continue tagging Graduation stuff.
If you have any problems, don't hesitate to ping a Mod!]]

Re: A little bit before the Prom kicks off.
With a jab of her thumb towards herself and a tilt of her head she winked a reply. "No sweat! Back home I go clubbing with my co-workers form time to time. I can show you a fancy footstep or two that I learned from the greatest dance master in all of Diamond City!"
Many a Saturday night did her company head out to Club Sugar to dance the night away after a successful launch of their newest games. With her many jobs and balancing school in between, it was hard for Mona to keep up with her dancing co-worker Jimmy and keep the rhythm going all night long. This prom night however, she could do just that. No classes to attend to the next morning meant sleeping in late, and the film with the precious memories within could wait a day longer than necessary.
"Besides, slow dancing is easy as making a pizza pie. All you have to do is..uh...hm, this might essentially get all kinds of awkward" her voice cut off. Between her and Knuckles, there was but one small detail she'd overlooked in her excitement. The height difference.
This was an unforeseen predicament.
Re: A little bit before the Prom kicks off.
Yeah. Mona wasn't the tallest person Knuckles had ever seen. That honor went to Max. But she was still considerably taller than him. If they stood 'cheek to cheek' that would leave his cheek quite a bit lower than hers. It was hard being four feet tall in world of Homo Sapiens Sapiens.
"Sorry. Ain't much I can do about that." he replied a little sheepishly.
Re: A little bit before the Prom kicks off.
"Um, no. You can't. B-but I can work with it, no problem! We'll have fun either way, and I can always just, like..." she attempted to match his height by crouching ever so slightly till she was nearly eye level with him.
"Now we can dance," she smiled. But oh man, could feel the burn of her muscles in her lower calves starting to scream their agony. "Solves that problem doesn't iii-"
Maybe not such a bright idea after all. And before she could finish, her balances wobbled, faded, and failed. Trying to regain composure proved futile, a heel caught in the underskirts of the dress as she tried to right herself up back to normal height. Instead, the mishap threw her falling forward instead of throwing her backwards, a hand shooting out to grab for Knuckles to stop her falling.
Re: A little bit before the Prom kicks off.
Knuckles didn't want her to spend the whole evening feeling like she had to crouch! But they had bigger problems at the moment as she started to fall over! He dived in for the catch, grabbing her hand and placing another hand on her shoulder roughly four feet before her face would have met pavement.
"Easy, there!" he said, face obviously concerned. "Just stand normally and I promise we can figure somethin' out!"
Re: A little bit before the Prom kicks off.
Slowly she eased herself out of Knuckles grasp, straightening up and smoothing out her dress, feeling quite sheepish at the whole incident. She dared not look around for fear her classmates and fellow students had seen the ordeal go down. What a fool! This was prom, a place where making a total fool of yourself had dire consequences. People would talk and tease about it for weeks on end!
"Thanks for catching me anyway, before I became floor pizza or something." Her hands fumbled with the tiara on her head, making sure certain it had not fallen out of place.
Re: A little bit before the Prom kicks off.
He smiled up at her. "If we gotta dance slow, we'll just stand a little apart so we're not bein' too mismatched. We'll figure it out."
Re: A little bit before the Prom kicks off.
"Of which, how about our first dance together be such? A slow one, I mean. That way we can get the bugs ironed out earlier on and see what works best" she suggested.
Re: A little bit before the Prom kicks off.
It was kind of weird, really - he'd been feeling out of sorts around girls since he'd arrived. He'd met so few of them and there was a lot about them he still didn't quite understand. But between the shambles that had been Valentines day and their spar in Martial Arts class, he actually felt a lot more comfortable with Mona than he did in general. It was nice.
Re: A little bit before the Prom kicks off.
Unlike Pokemon who were weird, wonderful, and cute monster creatures, Knuckle's type of being brought forth a homey feel. It made her time at the academy less stressful knowing similar folk she'd grown up around attended the same school, and even quailed a bit of longing homesickness for Diamond City.
Despite their mishaps, Mona considered Knuckles at that moment as a friend she could truly count on. A little naive and out of touch with the current world true, but he seemed to mean no ill will. Clueless one might call him, yet Mona didn't think as such. He was just...brought up differently.
And if an innocent, clueless Echidna could be friends with a scatterbrain such as herself, Mona fully would welcome his company. No matter if she didn't think of herself as a bit out of touch with her surroundings.
"I think we're going to have fun tonight, you and I" she smirked, fingering the rose in her hands carefully. "Well, at least I hope you enjoy yourself tonight, otherwise what kind of a date am I!" she laughed.
Re: A little bit before the Prom kicks off.
They were playing something with a hip-hop beat to it. It was a solid rhythm - something he felt he could fight to. So. He could probably dance to it, right?
"Let's head in, huh? I mean, if you're ready?"
Re: A little bit before the Prom kicks off.
Why Knuckles, you could melt a girl's heart with such sweet talk! Certainly you've hit an interesting chord with Mona. Why, take a look at her, you've gone and made the red head flush.
"R-ready? Y-yeah! I was born ready. Let's hit the dance floor buddy!" Without even thinking, she grabbed his hand and began eagerly dragging him out onto the floor of dancers.
Re: A little bit before the Prom kicks off.
Re: A little bit before the Prom kicks off.
"Come!" Facing back top Knuckles, Mona's fingers motioned him to follow suit to the occupied area.
Re: A little bit before the Prom kicks off.
OK. Beat. Find the rhythm. Move to it. Use your feet.
He looked around at some of the other boys, trying to see what they were doing. They were.... not much help. Too many styles, no way to tell which ones were good.
Well. Better to just try and fail than not try at all. He started moving side to side, switching his feet and stepping like a boxer.
Re: A little bit before the Prom kicks off.
When in Rome, do as the Romans do! Mona switched up her dancing to match whatever moves and dance style Knuckles was trying to invent.
Re: A little bit before the Prom kicks off.
He grinned at her and threw himself into the 'moves' with an even greater momentum, using some training techniques he employed in his solitary days on the Island: Battling imaginary foes, moving quickly, sidestepping imagined strikes. He definitely had RYTHM... it was just... not really dancing.
Re: A little bit before the Prom kicks off.
Nearing his as close as she could, she gently tapped him on the shoulder, keeping on her toes and ready to sidestep in case he made a sudden move.
"How about you...follow my lead for a bit, okay?" she replied, huffing to catch her breath. Man, the Echidna wasn't the best dancer by no means, but he was sure quick like lightening! If she had kept up his step the entire night, why, she'd have felt like she'd just run a marathon!
Not that she wouldn't run a marathon mind you. She'd take that challenge like taking the horns of a bull. Just at this moment in an expensive dress it simply wasn't doable.
