Dorm Log

Who: All of Smash.
What: Dorm log! Summertime special.
Where: Student and Teacher dorms, and quite possibly beyond campus.
When: Approximately the latter half of July to the earliest of Augusts (25th - 15th)
Warnings: YOU KNOW YOURSELVES

We all know our characters experience downtime after classes and their busy schedules, and this is a good venue for those kinds of miscellaneous dorm-shenanigans to take place. Not only does it give your characters the easy chance to meet new people in a laid-back environment, but it's a good mechanism for strengthening CR. It's easy!

Feel free to begin in any way you please! Plan with (a) fellow player(s) if you'd like! Or, set up a thread and wait for characters to bite! Just add a thread with the room number (and date/time, if it matters) and the characters that reside there (just for reference!). You do not have to use one character's thread as a dual-purpose for both characters if you do not want to. Doesn't have to be a dorm room, either, if you have something else in mind.

And don't forget: things are getting pretty freaky! Shadow bugs are still rife around the school and city, causing all kinds of trouble, but most significantly capable of cloning people and even objects. For the remainder of July, the dimensional lines are a little blurred and causing alternate universe versions of characters to show up. But something ever curiouser has started to show up on campus... Bubbles?

Subspace bubbles? They look kinda like the ones dotting the sky... Dare ye enter?

If you do, you'll find that it... just ends up being a portal to another part of the school. Sometimes they may lead you into some part of town. Weird! Hopefully it doesn't lead you anywhere embarrassing, like in the middle of a stage play or in the bathroom of the opposite sex. That's mortifying.

7/27: Shadow bugs go wild and clone a bunch of office supplies. Do shadow bugs get bored or something? Beware of that stapler you're about to pick up... It might be a shadow bug clone! They're animate office supplies all around the school. At least it's easy to tell the difference between the real things and the animate ones, because the clones are purple. Unless, of course, your supplies are all purple. Then you're in a bind...er.

Also, they cloned the Kraken fountain and now it's come to life. Hope you brought some slippers.

8/1: You know those hazy purple-black pockets of subspace that keep showing up across the sky? Today, a humongous one swallowed up the sun completely. For almost all of the daylight hours, there will be a full-on solar eclipse. Aww, were you working on that golden tan? Too bad, buddy. You're gonna have to wait until tomorrow.

8/5: A herd of Towtow show up at the school overnight and stop to rest. They'll be there, napping all day with that peaceful look adorned on their faces. How cute! But you wouldn't want to see them angry... Maybe that's why you should be careful not to wake them up.

Ian had quickly warmed up to his new buddy. In a lot of ways, this Samus was much more similar to the one he knew from home, age and gender differences obviously aside. Of course, he lacked the big thing that Ian had conveniently never mentioned, a steady long-term relationship with another person. It's not that Ian didn't like Falcon (he swears he does!), but that's still something that required a lot of processing. It was just easier to talk to a Samus who was fresh-out of space adventures, coming from a world Ian knew much better than this one. Even with their alternate universes and different points on the timeline, he was a connection to home and Ian could stand to have a few more of those.

One thing he definitely did not miss from "home" though was the FOOD. The freedom of on-planet eating has been wonderful to Ian. If he's not careful, he's going to get very soft around the edges. He assembles himself a sandwich, probably a peanut butter, marshmallow fluff, banana, chocolate monstrosity. And an apple as a snack. Gotta be healthy.

"Hey," spoken with (of course) a mouth full of food when Ian sees Samus skulking around the kitchen. "Hungry?"

"Yeah." Samus answered, not really caring to hide it. He was after all sticking his head in the refrigerator and milling around.

"there is a bird seed parfait in here who put this in here" he said

samus realized he needed to feed on the life force of others to be sated so he started sucking on ian's head

"What is that in your mouth?" That oddly appealing looking monstrosity he was eating.

"Thiff--?" He chews a few more bites, perhaps kind of obnoxiously considering the sticky nature of the monstrosity, before he swallows and continues. "Delicious is what it is."

He rips Samus a nice sized chunk of it and offers it to him. Look at that delicious artificially flavored white goop coming out the side. Mmm.

Samus holds his hands up as if to say Ian slow down. "Why don't you tell me what's inside, first."

If he was anything like Ianna it was probably some sugary sticky sweet monstrosity with delicious artificially flavored white goop.

"Uhh," he puts his sandwich down and counts the ingredients off on his fingers. "Peanut butter, banana, marshmallow fluff, and chocolate sauce. Delicious."

He stuffs another bite in his mouth.

He apparently has the appetite of a five year old.

Ian. That was so Ian of Ian. Ianna of Ian. Samus feels his stomach urge him on despite having second thoughts. He could maybe try that sweet monstrosity... or maybe he could find something with a slightly more varied nutritional value to it. More meaty, maybe.

Or he could do both.

Feeling quite so brazen (and hungry) he takes the chunk Ian offered and gives it a good bite. Deadpan is the most reaction he'll permit but for what it's worth he finishes the apparent appetizer off.

"It's acceptable." It's all over his fingers man he's gotta lick it off now. Look at him lick it off like it's just acceptable.

"Just acceptable." Ian laughs. This was all very... Samus of Samus. Ian grabs another bite of his before gesturing to the ingredients which he has of course not yet put away. "I could make you your own."

Or Ian might have seconds. Or both of those things.

"Tempting." Samus says. It was very tempting but the hunk of plastic-wrapped rib-eye tucked away in the back of the refrigerator grabs his eyes more. If there was a note on it, it might have been from one of the resident carnivores on campus, but unfortunately for them it seems to have fallen off. "But I might pass."

Samus pulls it out and waggles his eyebrows at Ian like, LOOK WHAT I FOUND.

Now that looks tasty, and Ian's eyebrows raise in obvious interest when presented with something much more filling than what he's got. He comments, "Can't get that food like that on the station."

And how. Even if Mrs. Malkovich occasionally would have mailed Ian a nicely sized jar of artificial marshmallow goop, fresh food, let alone fresh meat (and the real kind-- not the kind grown from a culture in a lab) was a real luxury.

"So you gonna share?" Come on, he gave you some of his monstrosity, Samus.

He rolls his eyes around in apparent deep consideration. Then he casually shrugs and yes of course he's going to share his spoils with his closest current ally and helpful competent mechanic.

"Since you asked so nicely." He drops it to the counter top with a very satisfying, heavy smack. The challenge, now, was going to be in the preparation of it. Samus puts his hands on his hips and kind of. Stares at it.

"..."

His suit was still plot device fubar so there'd be no convenient plasma-cannoning it this evening.

"...how good are you at cooking..."

He mimics Samus, walking over to the counter and putting his hands on his hips. Ian looks between Samus and the ribeye several times. Samus. Ribeye. Samus. Ribeye.

Finally.

"Well it can't be that hard..."
