Dorm Log
Who: All of Smash.
What: Dorm log! Summertime special.
Where: Student and Teacher dorms, and quite possibly beyond campus.
When: Approximately the latter half of July to the earliest of Augusts (25th - 15th)
Warnings: YOU KNOW YOURSELVES
We all know our characters experience downtime after classes and their busy schedules, and this is a good venue for those kinds of miscellaneous dorm-shenanigans to take place. Not only does it give your characters the easy chance to meet new people in a laid-back environment, but it's a good mechanism for strengthening CR. It's easy!
Feel free to begin in any way you please! Plan with (a) fellow player(s) if you'd like! Or, set up a thread and wait for characters to bite! Just add a thread with the room number (and date/time, if it matters) and the characters that reside there (just for reference!). You do not have to use one character's thread as a dual-purpose for both characters if you do not want to. Doesn't have to be a dorm room, either, if you have something else in mind.
And don't forget: things are getting pretty freaky! Shadow bugs are still rife around the school and city, causing all kinds of trouble, but most significantly capable of cloning people and even objects. For the remainder of July, the dimensional lines are a little blurred and causing alternate universe versions of characters to show up. But something ever curiouser has started to show up on campus... Bubbles?
Subspace bubbles? They look kinda like the ones dotting the sky... Dare ye enter?
If you do, you'll find that it... just ends up being a portal to another part of the school. Sometimes they may lead you into some part of town. Weird! Hopefully it doesn't lead you anywhere embarrassing, like in the middle of a stage play or in the bathroom of the opposite sex. That's mortifying.
-------
7/27: Shadow bugs go wild and clone a bunch of office supplies. Do shadow bugs get bored or something? Beware of that stapler you're about to pick up... It might be a shadow bug clone! They're animate office supplies all around the school. At least it's easy to tell the difference between the real things and the animate ones, because the clones are purple. Unless, of course, your supplies are all purple. Then you're in a bind...er.
Also, they cloned the Kraken fountain and now it's come to life. Hope you brought some slippers.
8/1: You know those hazy purple-black pockets of subspace that keep showing up across the sky? Today, a humongous one swallowed up the sun completely. For almost all of the daylight hours, there will be a full-on solar eclipse. Aww, were you working on that golden tan? Too bad, buddy. You're gonna have to wait until tomorrow.
8/5: A herd of Towtow show up at the school overnight and stop to rest. They'll be there, napping all day with that peaceful look adorned on their faces. How cute! But you wouldn't want to see them angry... Maybe that's why you should be careful not to wake them up.
For reference, here are the rooming arrangements.

"I-I'm fine. Sorry--thank you, I mean."
He was still shaking, wound tight and breathing tense, but at least he pulled his expression to something like composure.
"You're... you're right, it's not safe here, we shouldn't... have we met?"
Now that he'd pulled himself together just enough to actually look at the strange girl, she had a strange familiarity about her that he couldn't quite put his finger on.
no subject
"It's sort of my job to check through most of the school records sometime," she shrugged, at least when in concern of certain delinquents. "Sorry, my name is Hisa Uesugi."
no subject
"Ah! You're a relative of Hidehiko?" Yes, had to be it--the resemblance was all too apparent, now that he looked properly. Brown had never mentioned family, let alone someone coming to the school, but Hajime had missed more than a few other important events in his time away. "I'm Hajime Tanaka. It's good tooOORAH--"
The scissors reared up again, recovered and raring to go, before Hajime lashed out and smacked it across the table with his arm. "Sorry--we should move."
no subject
"I think it might be best if we find somewhere secluded but first," switching back to Jack Frost, the ice sprite let out a jolly 'hee ho' as it freezes some items within close range. Because yes Hisa, summon your Persona near a guy who probably had a heart attack with the slightest surprise. She turned to Hajime with a sheepish expression, "I-I'm really sorry, that was um... it's rather hard to explain..."
You dolt.
no subject
"A piece of the soul, given a solid form... separate, yet inseparable..."
He'd long ago noticed Hidehiko's peculiar spiritual hangers-on, but never had the right chance to see them in action, and it seemed a bit rude to ask. For just a moment, his previous nerves were forgotten as his eyes shone with fascination.
"I-I mean--that's fine, let's, let's go." He stood, holding out a hand to her as if he wasn't the one who'd fallen on his ass and she the one who'd try to help. And as if his arm wasn't bleeding from a scissor wound.
no subject
"This school has dormitories, right? We could try finding an empty room."
She doesn't really know if Hajime could keep up, it was probably best she kept a hold of his hand. It was rather nice to hold his hand...
no subject
"There are plenty of extra rooms. They should be safe, I'll show you."
Less safe was the stretch of open-air campus on the way from the library, infested with insects and violent gardening tool clones. Funny how that could make what was usually a simple walk a lot more stressful. He was shaking, but if nothing else, he had to keep it together. Just in case she needed help. From someone like him. Hah.
"Right over there--there's guest dorms, they're usually empty. We just have to move quickly and carefully."
The boy's dorms were closer, to the relief of some tiny, neurotic part of his brain--because he knew the way, obviously, not because of like. Being nervous about girls. Or anything immature like that.
no subject
A thumb traces over Hajime's hand, Hisa was tempted to speak up and asked if he wanted to talk about it or anything but the words felt like they were stuck in her throat.
Well, at least, it looked like the walk to the dorms were relatively safe.
no subject
Still, he dared not speak a word until they slipped back indoors, hopefully safe from the chaos of ripping reality. He heaved out a long, shaky sigh of breath, after what felt like an eternity of holding it in. "Th...thank you for your help."
At this point, he finally realized that he was still clutching her hand. With the apparent danger behind them, it felt presumptuous, and he quickly pulled back, glancing away from her in embarrassment. He must have looked absolutely pathetic.
"I... wish we could have met under better circumstances. It seems all I can do today is impose on people. You're very kind to have expended such effort on me."
no subject
"No, it's completely fine, I'm just doing my job that's all," she said as her eyes darted back and forth. "A disciplinary committee member, at it's core, has concern for members of the student body, of course." And that certainly didn't made her any more dorky than she already was. Falling back on hold habits, she tries to muster up her best annoyed look and folded her arms to her chest, "and there wouldn't be the need to put great concern if they would just stick to the guidelines."
no subject
He took off his glasses to rub at his eyes. He had no idea what was going on anymore, life seemed to have absolutely collapsed in the time while he was gone, and he was too small and pathetic to do a damned thing about it. To think, he'd come here to try and help. Foolish, tiny little Hajime.
Hugging his arms close to himself, Hajime realized he was shaking again. "F-forgive me... it's been a... a very rough day. For you to dedicate yourself to looking after your peers, it's..." He thought of Kiyotaka, and for some reason his heart sunk further, a desperate loneliness taking hold.
"If--if I can, can ask you, please... please stay with me, a little longer, I... don't want to be alone, right now, I just..." He trailed off again, staring at her, before looking away. "Ah, no, you've got a lot on your plate already. Forget I said anything. Thank you, for all your hard work."
no subject
She played with the hem of her skirt as she carefully worded what she wanted to say next, "you look like you've had more than a rough, I made it worst by acting like a stuck up, stick in the mud." She wasn't all that pretty or sociable, Hisa had decided long ago that she can just easily hid her shyness by playing the part of being a pain the ass. At least then people had a better reason to hate her.
"'s what I can only do, I'm really sorry."
no subject
He sniffed, scrubbing a sleeve over his eyes. After all the damage he'd done today, he couldn't bring down another person with him. His duty, poor as he was at it, was to uplift people.
"However guarded and restrained you are, I can see how kind you are underneath. You've protected me as you protect yourself."
He took a hold of her hand once more, as hopeful to reassure her with the contact as himself. He was being forward, even needy, but some desperate longing for familiarity and stability told him he'd known her for much longer than the few minutes since they'd met. He needed someone to trust.
no subject
Hesitantly, she pulled away, just to lightly touch the wound Hajime was sporting- no longer than a second, she summoned Vidofnir to cast a healing spell. "'could do much more really," she shrugged, "don't argue with me, I still need t'help you with this."
no subject
Protests died in his throat, pale and weak. With all the aches and throbbing pains he'd had since waking up, the actual wound had hardly even registered. What a mess he'd become...
So instead of arguing, he looked up at the golden bird she'd called out, from within her very spirit. He'd rather look at something so radiant and pure than anything from his own soul.
"You can do... such amazing things. Carrying something so beautiful in your heart..." He was babbling. Exhaustion and pain had made him into an idiot, he needed to stop, but the words spilled out without a thought. "...you carry so many wonderful things with you... your heart... must be quite large."
no subject
"'m sure you're a lot more than you think yourself." He must be, he was a polite and sweet if a bit odd kind of a guy.
no subject
He ran a thumb over his healed arm, then rubbed it, then clutched it tight. "It would be nice... if we could see our own souls. Seeing what others see in us..."
He forced himself to take a deep breath. "Though... if that were the case, why would anyone bother interacting at all...?" Friendship was all about finding people with traits one thought lacking in themselves, wasn't it?
Still clutching his arm, he looked to Hisa. "I... can't speak for anyone else, but... I take kindness far more seriously than a harsh front." He smiled around the lump in his throat. "You seem adept at both, though, so it's up to you."
i died from choking my own sap
Instinctively, she gently pulled his hand away from the healed arm before holding each hand tightly with her own. If she were much more bolder, she'd close the space between them and give him a kiss already, but instead stayed within her spot with her awkward smile still intact with the dumb blush on her cheeks.
preserves you in amber
Somehow none of it felt quite real, like he was caught up in some sort of nightmare-turned dream. His fingers closed around hers as his cheeks began to burn.
"It... means a lot... that I could mean a lot, to you."
--Wait. That came out funny. His cheeks went redder. Uhh.
preserve me with glitter and ribbons also
She decided to ignore her own thoughts and press her lips with his. Eyelids closed shut, she stood still, afraid of pulling back as well as anticipating for Hajime to push her away.
no subject
His shock prevented him from reacting for a few long, intimate seconds. He'd only known her for... how long? Less than an hour. How could this have possibly happened? The instant his mind wandered back to what led him here, he shut down, and retreated to something warm, and he kissed her back.
He didn't want to think about any of that anymore. He wanted something soft and kind and wonderful, even if it made him a completely terrible person.
no subject
Nothing about this could possibly end well, but she was frustrated with the Snow Queen business, frustrated with finding herself in some school she didn't even knew existed. Terrible as it was, this was the closest thing she had to stability now.

"I--I, I, I'm sorry, I just--I--"
He pressed his hand over his mouth, disbelief overtaking everything else.
"I just--it's so fast, I mean, I, I didn't, I haven't, I..."
She was so nice, and she kissed him, and he had stopped it, but, but what was even happening, he was making a mess of it, and...
He looked down, still stammering into his hand.
"I, I've never... before..."
Outside of the influence of festive plants, which all were quick pecks of necessity, but this was... a lot different.
