HAPPY NEW YEAR
Who: Anyone of legal drinking age or with a good fake ID
What: A BAR LOG: NEW YEAR'S EDITION
When: New Year's Eve
Where: The Birdcage
Warnings: I think there may be alcohol references in this bar log. Also probably sloppy makeouts come midnight.
The Birdcage may have taken a hit during the destructive riots in the city over the summer, but like a majestic phoenix, it had risen from the ashes and looked better than ever with its renovations - just in time for one of the biggest nights of the year. The lights shone brighter and more colourful than ever, the bar was stocked with fresh new liquors from around the globe (and beyond), the music rang loud and clear through new speakers, the stage was more elaborate and featured all kinds of drag and burlesque troupes...
It was simply fabulous.
And on this New Year's Eve, it was packed from wall to wall with those reveling in the joy of having their favourite bar back and eager to see what the next year has in store. The patrons were brought together from all walks of life, all timelines and universes and races and lifestyles, to celebrate together and bask in the warm buzz of a good drink.
Some of them were here from Smash Academy. Why? Maybe they planned in advance. Maybe it was spur of the moment in an attempt to not spend New Year's miserable and alone while sober. Maybe it had to do with that brochure for the grand reopening that kept appearing on the bulletin board outside the cafeteria no matter how many times a certain hall monitor and other concerned folk took it down.
THE POINT IS. It's a drinking log. Go nuts.

The stage for this night may not have been set at a school cafeteria made over into a dance floor with party lights, but it had a strikingly similar ambiance to the setting of Pit's last New Year's Eve. It was the same time of year that a moment of significance transpired, and he had, for the first time, someone he called mom. From then on he shared a special, much closer relationship with Nabooru that he cherished. It lasted until the summer, where she was taken from him in the most brutal way. He was used to people he cared about leaving, but not like that. It left him with a lot of questions, only some of them he was able to answer, and agony, that healed from a constant sorrow to a scab that could be could picked at.
Pit has been pretty good at moving past the ripping tragedy that plagued him for a chunk of time until it faded into a dull echo that could easily be plunged into again if confronted with the reality just right, but a part of his heart still hurts, mostly hidden from view. He was capable of hiding it with lightheartedness and smiles, and it didn't always bother him anymore, but the memory still crept into the shadows of his heart, pouncing when he least expected it. This was one of those times of vulnerability.
It's weird how events of previous years, or at least the distant feeling of them, can sometimes creep in when the time coincides. Last year's New Year's Eve felt like a ghost dancing in the mesmerizing nightlife atmosphere, playful and vivacious but masking its true mournfulness. Like him, sometimes. Tonight, he wouldn't let it stop him from celebrating the new year, but when he had nothing to occupy him, he might fall into a reflective melancholy. His emotions might get more extreme if he has been drinking more.
