As a quiet Friday dawned on the school's campus, one could perhaps...feel it in the air. A creeping chill, a silent, barely-detectable indication that yes. Tonight would be the night.

By Saturday morning, the entire academy would be covered in snow.

That wasn't all--a large pine tree had made an appearance on the main quad, in desperate need of decoration.

He went to peek around the same corner, causing their foreheads to bump - Not too hard, luckily!

"I scented you on the wind so decided to come over and say How Do. You look like you're having fun, Candlebottom." he said, clambering into the fort and extending his hands towards the flame on her tail.

"Blimey, I'd forgotten what a boon you are to have around during chill weather."

There was a guy. He was creeping around trying to avoid being seen.

And he was making snowballs.

Unaware of the spy that had made it through the non-existent defenses, Riwane raised an eyebrow at Jon and laughed. "Ain't Ah jus' tha best? Like a nice warm an' cozy campfire. Too bad we ain't got no marshmallows or this'd be too perfect." she giggled as she swayed her tail back and forth.

"I've always thought you were the best." he said, leaning in to plant a little smooch on her cheek. (Hey, they were inside a snow fort and what grownups do in the privacy of their own snow forts was their own business. ...right?)

"Next time, I'll be sure to bring some along. I'll even make you some of that Cocoa you like so well. And a steak for myself - I'm sure your built in campfire could do a nice T-Bone justice."

Oh Jon. You thought you had some privacy?

Nope. You didn't. Jolt was secretly privy to that sneaked little smooch. Fortunately the Jolteon had enough honor that he waited until after he was done to sneakily lob a snowball at the back of his head and dart away.

Riwane grinned at the smooch and laughed. "Y'know... Ah dun think Ah'veever tried cooking food wit mah tail. Ah'm gunna have ta try that out!"

She was in the middle of saying something else when the she heard the thud of the snowball and then the following puff of snow from the impact. Riwane blinked a few times and tilted her head curiously as she looked around.

"Whut was that?"

"I can't believe we've never thought to try it while camping." he mused just as the snowball hit him square in the back of the head.

Oh.

Oh dear.

"....that was someone with a death wish." he muttered under his breath, turning around and flaring his nostrils to scent out who it was.

"Oi! Front and center, Sunshine!" he barked.

Jolt wasn't about to give himself up so quickly. Not when a brand new target presented itself so readily...

He snuck around carefully, and lobbed a snowball for Riwane's back this time before searching for a new vantage point, trying not to laugh.

Riwane was about to speak before she got hit, "Oof!"

"Hey! No fair!" she said with a laugh. "Don't make me melt mah fort jus' ta git cha! Ah'll be forced ta maybe hurt ya!"

Jon leaned down and grabbed up a handful of snow, packing it hard inbetween sinewy, calloused hands.

"It seems someone wants to challenge our team, Riwane. Shall we show them how we deal with folk who lay down a challenge to our sovereignty?"

Jolt thought very carefully about the challenge. Then he carefully considered a response.

He grabbed himself two snowballs and lobbed them one for each.

Maybe by luck, or skill, Riwane had ducked out of the way of the throw just as she had begun to pack a snowball of her own.

"Seems like it! Let's git this party started!"

Jon, however, WAS pelted. Because he didn't fear your snowballs, Jolt. He didn't fear being hit by your little snowballs.

Everyone knew it was quality that counted. Not quantity.

"I'd not call it a party. However, it may well turn into a gathering of family and friends commonly known as a funeral." he said with a predatory grin. His ears were perked and his nose flared again just before he leapt the wall in the direction of their assailant, firing his well packed snowball with considerable force.

Jolt was finally spotted. He jumped back, just dodging the snowballs Jon flung at him and chucking his own right back. "You've gotta catch me first!" the sparkledog taunted with a big grin.

Riwane laughed and excitedly joined the fray. Of course, she didn't have the speed of the sparkbutt or the werewolf, but what she did have was an aerial view!

Taking to the skies with an assortment of snowballs, Riwane took aim and made this a free for all! What? She wants to be the sole winner!

Jon was quick about dashing after the Jolteon, his own feet nothing if not quick. He balled up another handful of snow and hurled it at the other canine... before getting a good old fashioned lumping from Riwane.

"Et tu, Riwane?" he replied, the chuckle in his voice unmistakeable as he started working up a good sized clump of the white stuff to peg her with too.

Jolt took the hit to the back, laughing all the while. "Looks like you've got a mutiny on your hands there, shaggy!" he teased, preparing another snowball.

Riwane laughed happily, chucking a few more snowballs wide in a strafing motion as she dipped low to scoop up some more snow in mid-flight.

"All's fair in love an' war~!"

"It's no bother - I can take you both." he replied, intending to do just that.

...though he might have gone just a little easier on Riwane than he did on Jolt with his next volley of hurriedly scooped and packed projectiles. Just a little.

Jolt tried to find cover quickly, and managed to an extent. A couple of snowballs to the back were no big deal. He scooped up some more snow and lobbed a snowball up at the dargon. "Then take THAT!" he laughed.

Due to her recent dip, the ones they threw first didn't come close to hitting. But as she started going up, she was slower as she gained altitude again and got hit by a couple.

Of course, she laughed happily. "Hey hey! Didn't yer mommas teach ya not ta hit a gal!" she joked, tossing more snowballs their way.

"No, sorry Luv!" Jon replied. He would have had a terrible time in the Darkstalkers tourney if he'd not been allowed to punch a couple of lasses.

He ducked for cover as well and immediately started working on a hastily compiled but hard packed arsenal.

A few years ago, he never would have dreamed of engaging Riwane in a snowball fight, let alone someone else he hardly knew. He took a moment to think on how times had changed before flinging another snowball at his Dargon who was the only combatant he could see at the moment.

"You're going to have to land to restock your supply, Luv!" he taunted.

Jolt took advantage of Jon's distraction to dive out and lob a snowball at his back. He was used to doing things like this with his family back home. Although that was mostly before learning to humanize, so it was pretty different. Jolt relished the new experience though. "Never turn your back on your foe!" he taunted like the annoying little shit he was.

"Tsk tsk, rude!" she joked as she spun to try and avoid more snowballs.

"Whut was it they've been sayin' on sum a them new music videos? Make it rain?"

Well, hope you two don't mind getting wet! Riwane tossed the mass of snowballs she had gathered into the air before shooting a burst of flame at them and making it 'rain' on the lot.

Greeeeeat. Now everything was going to smell like wet dog.

Jon was quick about springing away as soon as he heard Jolt readying his attack. He did, however, get a good dousing from Riwane. There really wasn't much of a chance to avoid such a wide spread attack.

"I'll remember this next time we face a rock type Gym, Luv!" He called, dashing around behind the snow fort to restock his supplies. "Didn't know Charizard could learn Water Sport!"
