Wheatley was quick to train his flashlight on the body, giving it a closer look. Wouldn't that be great, to plug himself into a chassis with arms and legs and independence. He could go down to the bunkers all on his own! He wouldn't need to ask students to carry him from building to building!

Ah, freedom.

But it still looked like someone had just ripped the head off the body, so he couldn't be sure, yet.

"Well, yes, of course it--of course it would, but--maybe there's a plug on it? Can you check, for me?"

"Sure thing!" He balanced Wheatley into the crook of his arm, keeping the light focused on the discarded robot body ashe worked and began to look around for a plug. He wasn't entirely sure what Wheatley was aiming for, but he did as he was told anyway, with only an idea of what his goal might be. He checked the head first. "Are you thinking about plugging yourself in or something?"

"If I can, yes. That's the, ah. Plan. That I just came up with. Just now."

A great plan, obviously. "It's Aperture technology, so there's a good chance I'm compatible, with, uh. Whatever this is."

Luckly, there did seem to be a plug sticking out of the neck of the robo-body.

"Just, uh, go on and slide that into my port. Stick me right on it."

"Your... port." Pit ran his hands around the underside of Wheatley before he figured out where it was. "All right! Here goes nothing."

He plugged Wheatley into the robot body and held his breath for what was to come next.

[testgasm]

Nothing happened at first, beyond Wheatley's pupil contracting to a dot as the connection was made, and his inner component spun in the outer, suddenly looking much more like a component of a machine rather than a means to simulate human expression.

AND THEN

"Haha, yes! There it is--all sorts of--sorts of protocols, now, I wonder if I can--"

The robot body's leg gave a mighty JERK.

"Whoa!" In a flighty spurt, Pit leaped back, carrying himself a very small ways with his wings. He maintained his attention on the new and improved Wheatley that was slowly being reborn into a new life- one with access to extra mobility. He was on his way to becoming an independent young(?) robot.

"It... It worked!" cried the angel in happy awe. "Try an arm, too!"

[testgasm]

"Okay, okay, hang on--"

This was all very exciting indeed, but it would probably be even more exciting if he could make heads or tails of the protocols. The result was a series of spastic movements that were all at once ridiculous and completely uncoordinated. Wheatley grunted.

"This is--s'harder than it looks, mate."

[pitticus]

"That's okay. You're walking with new legs now, right?" Pit reminded. "It'll take some getting used to. Arms and hands are complicated. Maybe try sitting up instead for starters?"

[testgasm]

"Right, uh."

And he tries. Oh my god does he try. After some awkward twitching and moving of the wrong body parts, he jerks into a seated position.

"Woah-ho, that was--think I did that a bit too fast."

Pit lifted a hand as if to help in some way, though he knew not how. "Are... you okay?"

[testgasm]

"Uh--"

Wheatley had to think about that for a second, apparently. "Yes. Yes, I believe I am. I think I'm going to--going to try standing, now, so, uh. Get ready to catch me. If I fall over. Which I might."

[pitticus]

His voice rang out like an alarm and he hastened to move into position, readying himself for the collapse. "Okay! I've got some pretty mean reflexes, so you should be fine!" Hopefully that robotic body wasn't TOO heavy...

[testgasm]

"Okay, on three. One, two--"

With a great effort, Wheatley input the necessary protocols to MOVE THE LEGS. They bent and straightened with a tremendous squeaaaak.

There he went. He was. Standing. Up. He was wobbly. But he was--

"Doing it! Theeere we go."

After the grating noise that made Pit shelter his poor ears with his palms, he recovered and broke into happiness. "You did it!" cheered the angel, jumping into the air. "And I didn't even have to catch you!"

"Yeah, well, not out of the woods yet. Still a little--still a bit wobbly, here."
