L I B R A R Y - New School Year Style

Who: YOU.
What: ARE IN THE LIBRARY.
When: A log for the months of September and October.
Warnings: SHHHHHHHHH IT'S A LIBRARY.

You approach a building. It is covered in ivy, and does not seem all that impressive on the outside.

YOU ENTER.

The scent of books hits you palpably in the face.

By choice or not, you have crossed the threshold into the library. It is time to be quiet, or that ghostly pale, little red-eyed girl that stared at you as you entered will set you on fire. At least, that's what you believe she could probably do. Seems like it.

You quickly realize that this building has three and a half stories. All of them are full of books and strange little corners and cubbies and arm chairs that mysteriously seem to move every so often when the weird pale girl is not at the front desk.

You quickly realize that you are SO LOST.

Should you desire to learn of this strange buildings interior in GREAT DETAIL, you may do so here. However this probably won't help you become UNLOST. Neither will this CONVENIENT LIST OF BOOK CATEGORIES.

But don't panic!!! THE PALE GIRL WILL HELP YOU. OR PERHAPS THE STRANGE METAL BALL. But they are the librarian and library assistant, respectively, and they will do what they can to either help you or get you EVEN MORE LOST. It depends on who you get. God rest your soul.

OTHER THINGS OF NOTE:
❀ Vianca, the librarian, sits upon a great many books stacked on her roller chair while she is at the front desk. You should ask her to do something just so you can see the spectacle that is climbing down. When she is not climbing up and down the books or taking care of things in the shelves, you can usually find her here reading. This month she has returned to her magic studies, since she's still been practicing.

✿ Wheatley, the assistant, often zooms through the library on his management rails and would be happy to chatter your ear off fuck up your request chatter your ear off and help you. He is usually that one thing you can hear in the Library. When you can't hear him, he is probably... not there. Somehow. Because otherwise you know he is there. Don't worry about finding him, he'll find you.

❀ The Library is for everyone. Everyone except Rick, who is still banned.

✿ The Library's hours vary nowadays, but you can reliably find it open between 8-6 daily. Sometimes you can find it open as early as 6 am, and as late as 11.

---

[Hello this is an OPEN LOG. It is here for whatever business you might have in the library in the months of September and October. You may leave open threads, or have closed threads that you have plans for. It is all good here~ Come back and use it as often as you'd like!

- Please mark your threads OPEN or CLOSED. If OPEN, one or both library employees might drop in. If you'd like someone specific, just leave a note! If CLOSED, you may still request a library person should you need one. Just let us know!

- Prose style and action bracket threads are both readily accepted and encouraged ♥]

Well and then what would that all prove? Connor still didn't feel like he should have killed him, and had been telling himself to try to stop having any sort of feelings about feeling like he was truly the enemy if they were trying to not cause an issue on campus. That was their truce afterall, or a part of it. With the issues in town resolved, what did it mean for the Assassin and the Templar? Connor wondered that actually. Would things go to the bitter and awful again?

Seriously...Connor persisted on not wanting to have to kill him again.

But that trust...was still too thin to call anything. He wouldn't put it passed Haytham to try to kill him with his guard down. So he decided to simply keep it up. One way or another, at least reassure Haytham he wasn't something to betray again. He hoped his father wouldn't turn back on his apologies or such...then again, he still told Ziio sensitive information that should've came from Connor himself. And whatever happened now, he had to keep it together for her sake more than Connor himself. He never brought himself to talk about it, let alone actually talking with him. Well, they were talking now. I guess. He gave Haytham a wary look as he looked at him as intently as he was.

It was up to Haytham where he wanted this to go. One move, and war would happen. Simple as that.

I do not think I have to say what you want me to.

But he had a feeling this conversation was going to go south. He had to see it through though.

"I started reading up to about a century after our time. Another war they called 'The Civil War'."

"Good, continue reading through these. Maybe you will actually learn something for a change," Haytham supplied in his familiar condescending tone. It was always a hope, though there was little of it left after that battle to the death to protect Charles as a result of Connor's stubborn and inaccurate beliefs.

At least Charles was, presumably, safely away from this threat now. That, if anything, kept him from unsheathing his blade again for the time being. Connor could not seriously harm the cause here; Haytham was the ideas, but Charles was the one carrying them out, and he already had his assignments. There would always be other Grandmasters.

Of course, when met with such gestures it did nothing more than make Connor give him a scowl. Wow Haytham. Wow. You never cease to amaze him. Ever. Odd world aside, nothing what either of them did mattered here at all. Men and women coming back from the dead confirmed that. He thought it everything would be normal should he then return. Haytham and Ziio...still dead. Charles Lee...still dead. Colonies freed from the hand of Templars. But with the Templar and Assassin being here.

"What do you expect for me to learn from books of what is considered to be the past?"

He said. Annoyed.
tacohat: (History is so dumb.)

Haytham sighed and selected a book from the top of the stack. His son may be bigger and well into his 20s, but with all the argumentative questions he asked he often seemed to Haytham like a child.

"You have been fighting for your ideals all this time without having a real clue as to their effect, but now you have centuries of examples right here."

And in his mind, it only proved the Templars' case. He hoped Connor might see it the same way.

That was because Connor held a youthful arrogance at times, especially in front of certain figures. Figures like his father right now, who did nothing more than merely irritate him further.

Was he really trying to tell Connor, without evidence, that this was all Assassin doing? Was he really going down there?

It was cheeky, too cheeky to not note it for being so.

He also had to remember that they were in public, so he had to be vague with what people would hear.

"You are so quick to assume these wars all happen on the ideals I follow and those alone?"

Because after what happened as Haytham might remember, it didn't work out so well when he tried so hard to sway him one way.

"I had not known you to stoop down to petty lows."
tacohat: (If you kill him things might happen.)

Haytham exhaled audibly, annoyed.

"One significant effect sets in motion the course of the entire future. Or, stops a motion already planned. Think for a moment, Son. Do you really believe history cannot teach us nothing?"

He scowled, consumed by his own frustrations. The Assassins in centuries before his own were respectable compared to the ones in his own time and future. Of course, the books did not make notes of when or where secret hands manipulated the events, but he could easily guess, knowing full-well the consistent agendas of both sides, what they would support and what they would fight.

And he knows there is a gaping hole in the Templar map of influence right on the east coast of America towards the end of the 18th century. Charles Lee's death... was not so long after his own.

It wasn't as if Connor disagreed. Well, no, maybe he agreed with that. History can teach none or a lot of things. He went through some of the pages in one of the books he had on his person, but not necessarily reading them.

"True, history is made to be written to learn so that the mistakes we have made do not repeat themselves," he started, sounding like he agreed at first. But he opened his mouth again.

"But what I have learned as well from these books is that our history differs here. We both have written our own chapters in history. We have seen things that people write different in these books. Our own influences are blanketed by historians, possibly for generations to come."

Though from Desmond, he knew the Creed and the Templar Order...still existed. Were they still bound to still be enemies then? How much had either Order actually accomplished?

"What would you have wanted to change when these books tell us nothing our ancestors or their comrades have done? What caused one event and the next? Or whom?"

In a nutshell, basically Haytham had no footing. But Connor conceded that neither did he.
