I'll be there for you
Who: EV ERY ONE
What: Graduation. Prom.
When: The evening of May 31st.
Where: The Stadium.
Warnings: WHO KNOWS
One might find the stadium a little hot and humid for those used to a spring graduation ceremony. This fine evening the Academy is experiencing its first hints of summer, a warm breeze providing relief to those who would sit on the stadium floor, which had been rearranged into a platform overlooking neat rows of chairs meant to seat the gathered crowd of faculty and students. Towards the other end of the complex was the arrangement for the prom that was to follow. Food and drink, chairs and tables, each with a floral centerpiece, and, of course, a dance floor.

Before everyone could get their party on, however, there was the main event of the evening. From his place at the podium, Master Hand watched students and staff alike find their way into the stadium. With the recent robot shenanigans, there seemed to be tensions in need of dispelling. If the Headmaster knew one thing, however, it was that some silly city antics were not going to ruin this esteemed event. Not tonight. Not if he could help it.

HEY DUDES! Here's how stuff is going to work. We kick off the log with GRADUATION. This part of the log will be divided into separate threads. I'll post them all at once, so feel free to hop around, mingle, post whenever, wherever.
HOWEVER, once the PROM starts, it will be up to you guys to post your own threads. Please check out last year's log if you'd like an idea of how this works. Everything after the thread titled "DISMISSAL" (I will post that in a bit, so don't post prom threads until I have that up!) will be considered prom, though don't let that stop you from continuing to post in the graduation section.
Please label all your threads appropriately! (Examples: "SHENANIGANS AT THE FOOD TABLE", "DANCE-OFF", "THE PUNCH IS SPIKED", "BOTHER X" In general, a location + what is going on in the thread is the way to go. Obviously, more than one thread can take place at the same location. Linking back and forth when and if you thread hop is very much appreciated. If things start to look a bit laggy, we'll bump to the next page. Most importantly, HAVE FUN, and let a mod know about any problems or concerns you might have!

Eirika was...endearing.
"'Connor' is just fine," he said. "The man from my land who gave me that name did not even try to pronounce it. He had passed not too long before I arrived...but in peace. I fully accept 'Connor'."
He owed Achilles that much to keep that name alive in him. To think he gave him that name, knowing the implications now...No, Connor could not go into any regrets.
no subject
There was a mixing of feelings then. Unsure if she was disappointing. A little sad to hear that Connor seemed... to be rather familiar with loss. "I don't... I don't even know to begin saying your given name."
Her hand sat at the bottom of her bodice again as she contemplated. I have to try. "Rah... tahn..." Nibbling upon her lower lip, she found herself pausing before she addressed him. "Could you say it again? Slower for me?"
Because she had to try.
no subject
Heh.
You are trying too hard, Eirika.
Maybe just this once.
Again, he trusted Eirika to it. Let us see it to the end.
Slowly. And softly. He began.
"Ra," Pause. "Tonhn. Haké:ton."
Extra emphasis on accents.
no subject
It was the tone of voice he took with her that made heat find her cheeks once more. Trying to ignore it, she eyed him so intently that she imagined from an objective perspective, she might have looked slightly intimidating. Ambition did that sometimes.
"Ra-tonhn-" she started, as if trying to commit it to memory before she considered the second half. "Haké:ton. Ratonhn. Haké:ton." And then, "Ratonhnhakê:ton."
Which to her sounded immensely strange with her archaic accent. As if she put too much of a tonal inflection on various parts. Except that was simply how she spoke when she sounded. Too regal, perhaps. Whatever the case, she certainly was a princess trying to say an Iroquoian name.
no subject
Oh.
"You did not have to try so hard. 'Connor' is really just fine for me."
no subject
I owed it to you to make the attempt. If you give me something so precious, I should hold it as if it's glass. Please don't make me feel as if...
"I understand," she replied to him as she tried to put her composure back together. "Connor." It was a lot easier to say, honestly.
no subject
"...If it gives you some peace, you had said it correctly. That is a first outside of my village."
no subject
Fiddling with her necklace, she continued to clarify, "I suppose if I had masked myself as a mercenary for longer that perhaps I would have adapted to that name permanently, though my given name isn't difficult to say in the least. I'm unsure of how I feel about the matter."
But you know yourself better than I do. I just feel a little sad.
"Connor it was, however. That is the man I met when I trailed you some time ago. He is still the same man who stands before me now. And that is how I shall call him."
no subject
"Both of us were plunged into conflict. Worlds had to be seen outside of our own. We both had to take risks to keep ourselves and those whom we wanted to protect safe."
Another nod.
The more Eirika spoke, the less he regretted sharing.
I do not know why, but somehow I knew you would understand. I need not say anything else here.
"I am not opposed to that reasoning. The very reason why I will call you 'Eirika'."
no subject
And suddenly, she found herself stuck with one more thing to think about.
Consequently, she used Connor as a temporary distraction. "You say it so comfortably now," Eirika observed as she eyed him. "You used to hesitate every time you said it, and now you say it so simply. I... like that."
no subject
"I believe it is another form of...trust," Connor replied. To be seen as an equal...To be given a privilege to call one another.
Kind of like what he just did, right? "Connor" was just easier.
"Such contrast to my first day upon this land indeed."
So funny.
no subject
"A contrast, yes." Eirika thought on that for a moment and she looked from him onto the remainder of the stadium with some consideration. "You're... different from how you were when we met. Because of that trust."
I think you've changed more than I have. Do I distrust you? I may be fond of you, Connor, and yet I still hold you at length from me. Am I protecting you, or am I protecting myself?
"I look forward to seeing how much more of you changes with time."
no subject
Different? He was different? Why? How so? Because of trust? This place was...changing him? Sure this place would force change because it was so different. But really?
Had this place really changed me? I am uncertain of that. I had to adapt but...I suppose I do feel...different. Though I do not understand why. Or if this will lay down good fortune for my own future.
"Perhaps. In the meantime," Connor looked behind him now. "Shall we...return?"
no subject
Words seemed best. Perhaps. For the time being.
"If you are ready to," she replied to him easily with a nod.
no subject
...Connor merely just nodded in return, offering his arm again.
no subject
"I'm unsure of what your plans are, Connor, however, I do have someone I'd like to see, so if you don't mind, I'll be leaving you to your own devices after we return."
no subject
He'd already made a complete fool of himself.
Connor stood seemingly taller, and his expression he tried keeping blank.
"Very well, alright," he simply said. "I will be remaining, should you ever need me."
no subject
I'm worried about you.
"If you look so serious, someone will think we've been fighting," she spoke gently, for him alone. But she supposed she was no better, looking the way she did. So she softened and looked over to him as she tipped her head.
"I'm sure if anything happens, I'll be able to handle it. However, in the event that I need help, I'll..." And it was hard for her to concede to it as she reddened. "I will rely on you."
