Unlike most teachers here, Gordon had handled a physics classroom before--Grad students go to extremes for money. He figured a multiple-tier structure would work, two difficulty levels covering the same subject.

In this case, their first set of homework could either be a tame block of algebraic expressions or a sultry set of differentials depending the student's level. Either way, the the lecture and lab would essentially be the same.

When Marisa was wailing on a sandbag, he thought it was just a case of delinquency, yet here is Mr. Freeman, telling him that it's okay. N tilts his head, eyeing the hunks of sand with sympathy.

"Are you sure? They are alive, too, and I am sure they can feel the hits-..."

Did one just roll up to him and bump at his feet? Yes it did! Yes it did.

[Dammit... he could and probably should tell him to just shut up and hit the bag, but he... he just can't. He's incited violence from the pacifistic far too much for one lifetime already.]

...Yes, but at the same time you don't wanna deny them their purpose, either, do you? Alright alright, look, if you'd rather not you can use my data or one of the others. You already know perfectly well how this stuff applies to the mechanics of brawl, so that's not a problem.

Aha! That is a good idea. In fact, he thinks it could be extended to make it even better.

"Or, to make up for not attacking the Sandbag myself," N begins, cupping his hand around his chin, "I could use everyone else's data for extra work." That ought to do, right? That, and it would keep him busy for a good 10-15 minutes.

This is like the Twilight Zone. His last class way back in antiquity hated the idea of doing any sort of work, and yet this group of kids are volunteering extra effort left and right. It's surreal.

He does so, with a small smile as the disbelief finally ebbs. "Due in a few days, like the rest. Think you can do that?"

"Oh, I could even finish it beforehand," he babbles, almost entirely bouncing on his heels. That is a lot of leeway! N is going to do this for sure. "I can absolutely do this."
