Blind Dates C Tables

What: BLIND DATES!
Who: Anyone who was sent a note with C table numbers.
Where: Off-campus restaurant. AND BEYOND!
When: September 30th
Warnings: Who knows depending who is here.

[The third group's restaurant is a rotating fancy restaurant, the tallest in all of FDC! The place is high up in the air, and you can see all of the city from above! It slowly moves around itself so you can see the city from 360 degrees. The menu has all sorts of things. Still expensive, however, but you've been given a 100$ budget for eating each!

The lighting is dim, with flickering, oil candles on every table. The place is decorated in stylish black and browns, with reddish lanterns hanged on top. The overhead
music is half traditional Italian love songs, half that band you don't remember the name of and sometimes a little song sneaks in. Your servers are all dressed up for the occasion, and speak broken English and talk-like-a-dis despite the menu not being 100% Italian.

Beside each candle, there's a card. Each card has a different letter-number combination.

Find your table!

OH YEAH AND FEEL FREE TO LEAVE THE RESTAURANT AND GO ANYWHERE ELSE!.

..well once you've actually talked with your date anyway. If you try to leave before that, they will try to stop you.]

Oh. Rude, Lighter.

"Why, thank you." She began, trying to at least keep this even a tiny bit for the positives. "I suppose it was a bit sudden, yes? I was not sure how I was placed into this situation either, when I enrolled it was on top of my things. I decided to attend, thinking that it would at least be a nice way to possibly find a friend."

Yep, you just keep on lying to yourself, Dana. "I suppose we should both just make the best of this night, right?"

Taking her menu up, she began to lightly browse over it. "Indeed, there are many things that I have certainly never tried before... Hm... what shall we begin with?"

Oh god this girl was painfully formal. Lighter made a self-conscious effort not to slouch in his seat just so he wouldn't horribly offend her. That was about the extent of his "proper" behaviour though.

"I dunno what any of this stuff really is," he admitted, staring at the menu like it was in another language. He could recognize some of the ingredients that were listed, but what the hell was the dish itself supposed to look like, with all these fancy-schamncy terms all over the place? "I guess this salad looks okay..."

[identity profile] timederp.livejournal.com 2011-10-03 04:52 am (UTC)(link)
Well she has to be proper somewhere, right? However, she really didn't care if someone was slightly out of place... just... if they were being a complete slob.

"Hmm... And I believe I will start out with the slow braised short rib tortellini..." she mused to herself. She might have been a bidoof right now, but she was still a dragon at heart, and she freaking loved anything that had to do with meat.

Wait. The girl getting the meat and the guy getting the salad? Something seemed very off about this. Lighter was not one for the dating scene but even he could tell that was not how it was supposed to be done.

"Then I'll get the rabbit for the main course."

He was THAT CLOSE to ordering duck, but he could feel Zippo's disapproving stare from miles away.

"Uh... We just wait for the guy to come by, right?"

HOW DO LIGHTER RESTAURANT.

Dana's not exactly textbook proper when it comes to fancy dining. Herpa derpa derp.

"That does sound delicious, I am torn between either that or the lamb." She twiddled her fingers against the menu a for a moment.

Wow has this guy ever gone to a restaurant? Dana looks up from her menu and nods. "Yes, we should wait for our waiter to come about." With that settled, she closed it. They were probably going to be waiting a few moments, so she might as well try to speak. "So... I am going to come under the conclusion that you teach at the school, mister...?" Because someone was rude and never introduced themselves.

"I could get one, you get the other, and we split it?" Was that even the right thing to do at a place like this? WHATEVER. It totally would have flown in Tazmily, so that's what counted.

In Tazmily everyone also knew who he was. And while he knew the same didn't hold true for the big city he still couldn't get into the habit of introducing himself all over the place. Oops. "Oh, right. Name's Lighter. Don't gotta bother with the 'mister' or nothin'. Mostly I do repairs, but I got a woodshop class too, if that's the kinda thing you like to do."

[identity profile] timederp.livejournal.com 2011-10-03 10:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh right, there was totally a budget, wasn't there? Welp. "That sounds like a wonderful idea." With that settled, she closes her menu and sits it aside.

"Interesting," Dana realized that during the last few days that she's been a Bidoof, she's learned to deeply appreciate wood. "Well, it is a pleasure to meet you, Lighter."

Right after she replied she watched as two gentlemen (http://smash-logs.livejournal.com/643654.html?thread=41960774#t41960774) walked by, and she looked so sad hurt ... sad or something for a split second. Why are you leaving why were you even here come back...

Sob. Oh well, she'll just... catch him later or something. Back to smiling and being cheerful and faking everything.

Lighter was far from the most observant person, especially when things like a woman's emotions were involved, so he noticed absolutely nothing amiss with his date. He just flagged down the guy he'd seen walking around with food earlier and placed the order, along with some beer.

"You want anything to drink too?" Was she... old enough to drink?

[identity profile] timederp.livejournal.com 2011-10-04 04:22 am (UTC)(link)
Of course he wouldn't, but Dana was especially glad that he didn't catch her. That would have been so embarrassing to explain herself. "Oh uhm-- I will just have water."

Yep, she was completely sworn off alcohol, there was no way she'd ever get near it after that last run-in she had that ended terribly. The only time that she'd touch it would be if someone spiked their drinks. Who's to say that could never happen here... right?

[identity profile] 4x4-of-manly.livejournal.com 2011-10-04 11:13 pm (UTC)(link)
Water it was. And so the waiter went off!

Lighter, in the meantime, was not the kind of guy to spike a drink that wasn't his own. He was also not the kind of guy who was very good at smalltalk. But awkward silence didn't make for very good companionship. He stared out the window and--

"Wait a sec, that building wasn't there before."

REVOLVING RESTAURANTS, HOW DO THEY WORK?!
