Dorm Log!

Remembuh me? The roomie log turned out to be a success, and a lot of really awesome interactions took place. Because of this, I've decided it was about time to post round two. The name has been changed a little because I think it reflects the premise slightly better.

Basically, here's what this is: we all know our characters experience downtime after classes and their busy schedules, and this is a good portal for those kinds of miscellaneous dorm-shenanigans to take place. Not only does it give your characters the easy chance to meet new people in a laid-back environment but it's a good mechanism for strengthening CR and the like. Some examples can be seen in the link I provided if you fight through the buttload of comments in case I'm sort of unclear.

So how do we start? It's up to you, really. Don't have any plans with anyone else but want your character bugged? Start a thread. It helps to staple dates and times, but you can keep that completely ambiguous if you really don't care/it doesn't matter. So disembark and wreak havoc amongst yourselves! Set up karaoke and sing loudly to further improve relations with dorm neighbors! Jack cylindrical fluorescent light bulbs from the supply closet and fight like Jedi Masters! Build couch forts with other people's laundry! (...ew?) Hold a "study session" with that special someone of yours! Harass teachers and students alike with your inane questions! What bountiful possibilities await you.

Oh, what, she was just about to land on her hair. Fiiine. She fluttered back to where she was and did the magical song and dance of poofing back into a scrawny human girl, scratching at the side of her nose.

"Uh. I think about it. Used to use one of those rings you can get from the city, but dad set me straight so I just gotta think about it."

"Oh." She tapped her chin with her finger. So perhaps these Pokemon didn't need items to transform after all.

"I met a girl who used a bracelet."

Izzy shrugged.

"Not too surprising. There's probably a lotta folks that do. There's a TM for it too, but that's only for Pokemon. I know at one point they had some sort of meat stuff that you could eat but I think that got recalled for spoiling too quickly a few years back."

"And the school..distributes these things."

Hey it all made perfect sense to her, ok.

"Uhhhhh... The TM, I think, if people want it. Maybe some items..? Dunno, I got my stuff a long time ago. You can get 'em in town and stuff."

Ashley was going to find them. She was going to find them and perform experiments on Red, whether he liked it or not.

It was going to be so great.

"And they have products for other creatures. That aren't Pokemon."

"Ayup. That bracelet was probably just some generic thing for anybody. FDC has a lot of freaky people around."

Now she was going to wander around and poke your stuff with startling amounts of accuracy.

"No. I tried it on Red and it didn't work." It was said with a hint of a pout.

"Red?"

"Yes." Oh. Maybe she knew the other Red. Big Red. As if on cue, Ashley's little imp friend emerged from under the bed.

"This is Red."

Izzy turned at the sound. Huh. She wandered over and crouched next to the whatever-it-was, reaching out to pat it with her hands.

"What is it?"

Ashley, admittedly, wasn't entire sure what Red actually was, species-wise. She'd never seen another creature like him, so she answered Izzy in the only way she knew how.

"He's my friend. And he's not a pet."

That answer was entirely unsatisfactory. Izzy frowned deeply, tugging on Red's cheeks. She stopped after a moment though, because tugging on things you couldn't identify was generally a bad practice to get into. She'd have to live with that answer until she grew some eyeballs. Then again this was something she hoped never happened so she'd just have to live with it regardless.

"Oh. Does he talk?"

"I talk!" Red piped up, trying to swat Izzy's hands away. Ashley, however, looked on the scene with mild amusement.

"Oh, so you do." That was a thing. Izzy mildly started swatting back at Red's hands. "Do you know what you are?"

"He doesn't like talking to other people." Ashley stepped in and removed him from Izzy's swatting hands.
