Reach for the stars! A dysfunctional family vacation!

Who: Falcon, Samus, Jeff.
What: title or description
When: Weekend of February 7th.
Where: SPACE. Alieths III. POSSIBLY Big Blue.
Rating: PG-13.
Recommended music: Get!

It was about four in the morning, and Falcon...hadn't actually slept. Much.

These kinds of things happen when you're pumped on adrenaline from watching your team win the biggest game of the season against their biggest rival and then they dump a cooler of gatorade on your head.

Good times.

At any rate, Falcon was up before the sun mostly to ensure that no one witnessed their departure. As soon as he was up, dressed and packed, he'd made his way to the school to call in the Flyer, load the Skyrunner, and get his passengers out of bed. They had quite a trip ahead of them, so the earlier they got going, the better.

So there he was, standing outside of Jeff's door, duffel bag in one hand, the other knocking rather incessantly. When the student didn't answer right away, he figured he'd use the time to get Samus up and ready.

"Saaaaaamuuus." He chimed on his codec. "Heeeey Samus. Good moooooorniiiiiiiing~."

To say he was excited was an understatement. Hopefully they wouldn't kill him for the wake-up call.

Falcon wasn't the only one who had lost out on sleep due to the previous night's excitement (was that really how American Football was supposed to go?!). However, he was the only one feeling peppy and rearing to go at such an insane hour in the morning.

It seemed like Jeff had just gotten to sleep when he found himself dreaming about an incessant knocking... wait, that wasn't just a dream, was it? When he blearily opened his eyes, he could still hear it. He fumbled around the nightstand for his glasses, slipped them on, and squinted at the digital clock.

Just about 4 AM. Who the hell...

...Oh, wait! This was the weekend Falcon told him to pack for! He was certain he heard the man's voice on the other side of the door too, but couldn't really make out what he was saying. Right, that meant they were leaving for ... wherever they were going! Jeff wasn't sure yet. It was probably someplace AWESOME though.

He hopped out of bed, still wearing his uniform since it's canon he sleeps in them. Good thing he'd actually packed instead of waiting until the last minute. He grabbed the duffel bag and stumbled to the door and threw it open, looking for all the world like a kid who hadn't been able to sleep before Christmas morning: tired, but too excited to be cranky about it.

It was about four in the morning, and Samus had passed out like a log after the big game was over. She didn't drink a lot at the game but it was enough to put her under as soon as she got back to her dorm that night, excitement for it all aside.

At the sound of Falcon's voice, the blonde bounty hunter rolled around in her bed in a tangle of blankets until she could see the digital numbers on her bedstand clock. He didn't sound like he was in danger, nor did he sound like he was gender swaped like when Otacon was so Samus didn't spring to life at the sound of his voice echoing in her ear. It didn't register in her just yet that the weekend trip was starting NOW.

"Falcon..." She mumbled and buried her face in her pillow, "It's four in the morning."

"Good morning, Mr. Falc...oooon...!" The last part came out as a yawn, despite his efforts to supress it. He grinned a little sheepishly. Well, it wasn't like he'd yawned in class or anything - he had every right to yawn after being woken up so early! On a weekend, no less!

"Mis-- er, Samus is coming too?" That was unexpected, but definitely not a bad thing. Oh boy, a weekend trip with his two favourite teachers! It really would be awesome!

[identity profile] blondprodigy.livejournal.com 2009-02-08 03:09 am (UTC)(link)
...Wait, would they be taking the Blue Falcon? That barely had enough room for just two people. He and Samus would have to both be in back, probably. It was a tight fit.

"F...fff..."

[identity profile] blondprodigy.livejournal.com 2009-02-08 04:19 am (UTC)(link)
Jeff yawned again and trudged after Falcon (after a 10-second break to hurriedly type up a "BRB" post so nobody thought he got abducted in the middle of the night or anything).

"I don't mind," he said as cheerfully as he could manage. Well, he did mind a little, but he'd be able to catch up on sleep at some point during the trip. As they approached the teacher's dorms, Jeff couldn't help but feel like something was a little... off. But he was too tired to work out just what it was right yet. One of these things was not like the others, one of these things was HUGE.

Finally it registered dimly in the back of his mind. He watched the parking lot as they passed by it. "Oh... It's the..." He trailed off, remembering the partyvan Flyer from the time they all went to watch the F-Zero races.

..And that was all he had to say about it right now. Maybe once he woke up a little more he'd realize it was actually significant.

Of all the...

God damn she wasn't just dreaming. Someone was obnoxiously knocking at her door at four in the morning and Samus was pretty sure she knew who it was. She groaned and rolled out of bed after the knocking would not cease.

"Hold on, I'm coming." Came from behind the door, groggily. She didn't bother to put on a robe or pants and opened the door in her skivvies.

...and stared.

Jeff craned his neck in an effort to peer around Falcon's hand. "Do all of your knickers have kittens on them?"

He hadn't meant to say it out loud, but he had to know. For science!

Sunshine?! Accompanied with less-than-subtle stifled giggles from the Captain, oh no, that was not the way to greet Samus Aran at four in the morning. Especially not while a cold windy draft was creeping in through the open door she was holding and over her bra-less tank-top. "What... right now?" She furrowed her brows because the answer to her question was obviously standing right in front of her, packed and ready to go.

And the way Falcon was barking orders made her verrrryyyy inclined to be be a grump about it. She put one hand on her hip and used the other to stubbornly point at the taller man while growling, "Not until I have some coffee in me."

...and then Jeff asked a seemingly innocent question. Seemingly because Samus remembered her first encounter with the student involved said knickers. The motherly pointed finger slid right on over to the smaller blonde, "And for your information, no."

Samus lowered her hand and narrowed her eyes at Falcon, taking a second or two to calm down, "Five minutes." And with that, she disappeared behind her door, surprisingly, not slamming it.

As promised, five minutes she came back out, yes, clad in pants a shirt and that nice custom biker jacket that she got for Christmas. Unseen underneath all that was the Zero Suit, only because she may or may not of been expecting to have to slip into the PowerSuit if she could convince Falcon to make a pit stop on the less-than-atmospherically-friendly planet Elysia. Slung on her back a simple backpack that looked moderately stuffed. In her hand a mug of coffee, and she was looking far less grumpy than before. Almost... excited even.

...maybe after she finished that coffee it would be more noticeable.

No. She didn't have super freaky alien superpower hearing but Samus was still loitering around close to the door when Falcon made that comment. I heard that!

A brief codec call was made in response,

"Good morning Miss Aran, Jeff Andonuts."

The Flyer's onboard computer was, obviously, not as groggy as the trio that had just stepped on board.

It (or he, perhaps, judging by the mechanical voice) may or may not have been just a touch more cheerful-sounding because of that. Bothering the Captain was one of his favorite pastimes, after all.

If Jeff were to look to the back of the ship, he would see the Skyrunner which Falcon had hotwired and loaded in some time before.

Much like the Blue Falcon, the Flyer had been given a recent additions to better accommodate passengers. In addition to the Captain's own chair in front of blue glowing screens and computer panels were several passenger chairs as well as a rather roomy area towards the front never mind the UFO and mechanical clutter in the back storage area.

Falcon knew they had both been in the ship before but there was something exciting and new about the three of them taking a trip together. "I can get that." He said, taking Jeff's bag.

[identity profile] icequeen-aran.livejournal.com 2009-02-08 06:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Samus sauntered right up into the ship, casually sipping her coffee, and muttering an equally casual, "'Morning Computer." This wasn't her first time in the Flyer, nor conversing with [one of] Falcon's computer AI's so she treated the Flyer as such; one of her own.

On her way in she noticed the Skyrunner already loaded and couldn't help but wonder if Falcon slept at all, considering the time it must of taken him to hotwire and load Jeff's spaceship inside the Flyer. "Hn. Someone's been busy." The smirk was barely there.

She debated on calling shotgun but a yawn came out instead.

[identity profile] blondprodigy.livejournal.com 2009-02-08 06:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Jeff had only a passing disappointment that he wouldn't be squished against Samus in the back of the Blue Falcon, but he forgot all about it the moment he stepped on board the Flyer. "Oh, er, good morning... Computer!" So it had AI programming too? One day he'd have all this cool technology to spruce up his own spaceship! That day was a lot closer than he thought.

Speaking of...

"Wait..." His gaze settled on something familiar in the back. "Hey, isn't that the Skyrunner? Why is it...?" He turned to Falcon anxiously. "Where are we going, anyway?"

Samus lingered with her cup of coffee while Falcon shot her a look that, coupled with Jeff's questioning, made it obvious Falcon didn't tell him anything yet.

That was okay.

"Aliehs III." She stated simply, . Samus moved to a free chair to buckle in and motioned for Jeff to do the same. "So the sooner you get buckled in, the sooner we can get going."

Her attention went back to their chauffeur, "I'll give you the coordinates once we're up in the air."

[identity profile] blondprodigy.livejournal.com 2009-02-08 10:22 pm (UTC)(link)
"Aliehs III?" Jeff remembered Samus mentioning it to him before. That explained the Skyrunner's presence on the trip. Oh boy oh boy oh boy! For REAL space technology to add to--

WAIT. SPACE. They'd obviously have to go there to reach Aliehs III, right?

Jeff seemed to go from standing near the entrance to being buckled securely in a seat in the blink of an eye. "Let'sgolet'sgolet'sgo!"

[identity profile] icequeen-aran.livejournal.com 2009-02-09 01:51 am (UTC)(link)
Once the ship was safely out of the SHAKEY RUMBLY takeoff part and calmly drifting in outer space, Samus knew it was okay to take off her seat belt and wander up to the front of the ship, resting her arm on the back of the Captain's chair. She looked momentarily behind her and gave a nod for Jeff to get out of his seat and come look at the fantastic view.

It was a view she had a hard time appreciating after seeing it for practically her whole life, but there was something very special about being able to watch someone else's eyes light up seeing it for the first time.

That she knew very well.

[identity profile] blondprodigy.livejournal.com 2009-02-09 02:31 am (UTC)(link)
Shaky take-offs weren't too different from crash-landings (except, you know, minus the crashing part), but it still made Jeff a little dizzy for a little while. Nonetheless, the moment Samus gave the signal that he could get up and appreciate the view, he was out of that seat even faster than he'd buckled himself in to begin with. That's right, Jeff was so excited he was defying the laws of time and space. He scooted around Falcon's chair and leaned over the control panel, pressing his hands and face against the window, taking in the view.

"...!"

He'd seen images of earth taken from a satellites before, but to see it with his own eyes...! Pictures just didn't do it justice. This was amazing! He was almost worried he was still dreaming.

"We're... in space!" Even though Falcon and Samus were clearly aware of this, Jeff had to say it out loud to cement the fact in his mind. This was definitely real.
