Shocky was serious about wanting to play bebe Jeff.

Who: Jeff, or a Jeff anyway. And whoever wants first dibs on meeting him... but there will be ample opportunity to meet him later on.
What: TIME PARADOX
When: Evening of January 4th.
Where: IN THE BITTER COLD OF THE GREAT OUTDOORS.
Warnings: Depends on who shows up now doesn't it.

Present Day:

The New Year was supposed to be a time for bidding good riddance to the ills of the old year and looking forward to what excitement the new year would bring. A time for determination to meet one's goals. A time for celebration! ...Although perhaps it was a little late for that one now.

Still, the year so far had Jeff feeling down. The attacks on the non-humans were still fresh in his mind (while he hadn't been there for the discovery of the victims, the image of the blood-stained bat and the fact someone planted it for the sake of some game still haunted him); Ness had lost King, and seeing the boy Jeff looked up to for his optimism and upbeat attitude be so upset was jarring; Ionia had left for another school - another planet - and Falcon seemed to be using food to fill the gaping hole left in the family.

Jeff himself was going to graduate in a few short months. What would happen then?

He tried to keep his mind off brooding introspection by distracting himself with the spare parts he received for Christmas. He spent hours at a time working in his otherwise-empty room, sometimes forgetting even to eat, but that wasn't terribly unusual. What was a little abnormal was that Jeff didn't even have any plan in mind; he was just sticking parts together as long as they fit, connecting wires here and there, seeing if anything would happen.

At last, something did.

There was a flash of light, and Jeff was gone.

199X

Jeff Andonuts, son of the great Dr. Andonuts, was flying for the first time. He never thought he'd ever have a reason to fly anywhere, but if he had to, he imagined it would have been in a plane or some other perfectly normal means of aerial transportation. Instead, after the briefest of reunions with his father, Jeff was given what the older scientist had called The Skyrunner... It looked kind of like a UFO on the outside, and the inside wasn't much better; full of blinking lights and unlabeled buttons Jeff had to sit on his hands to keep from pushing.

He watched small tufts of cloud brush by the window as the Skyrunner flew over a strange place covered in rocks and sand, with not a single snowflake to be seen. Would it be just as snow-free at his destination? He didn't even know where his destination was, just that a boy and a girl would be waiting for him there. Friends he'd never met. Ness and Paula. Waiting for him to save them so they could save the world together.

Now that he thought about it, it sounded pretty crazy, didn't it? What kind of kid just ran away from school in the middle of the night because they had a weird dream? What kind of kid just fled the country in his father's rickety old machine that probably hadn't had maintenance work done on it in years? It must have been a long time, judging by the way it was shaking and creaking all of the sudden. At least the warning siren was still loud and clear.

...Wait.

Oh, fiddlesticks.

Jeff leapt from his seat (hitting his head on the low ceiling in the process) and waved his hand over the control panel, wishing he'd at least taken the time to ask Dr. Andonuts what to do in case of emergency. Did this thing even have parachutes? A quick look around revealed that there were no hidden compartments to keep such a thing in.

He could feel himself falling. Probably too fast to put a parachute on even if there were any. He threw his arms up in helpless frustration, slammed his hand down on a group of buttons, and pulled a lever.

"Up, up, pull up...!" A light flashed from somewhere, but that was the only answer to his desperate pleas.

Jeff Andonuts, age twelve, was crashing for the first time in his life.

Present Day

An object that resembled a more primitive version of the Skyrunner kept in the school's hangar was careening out of control in the skies over Final Destination City. Citizens who saw it either whipped out their cell phones to put it on the internet or rolled their eyes and wondered what those crazy Smash Academy students were doing this time.

The more cynical observers were right to make a connection to the school, for that is precisely where the machine was headed. It crashed right into the courtyard, destroying the edge of the fountain but somehow leaving the statue in the center intact. The statue continued to urinate recycled water on the smoking Skyrunner.

So a pre-Poo Jeff. Falcon was not terribly sure where that put him on his epic adventure to stop Giygas. What he did know, however, was that in this timeline, Giygas was long gone, and he wasn't sure if he should divulge the information. Best to keep the future...this Jeff's future...intact.

Even though it was probably already royally screwed just by him being at the school instead of... wherever he was supposed to be.

Curse you time looooops.

Samus had gotten both (http://community.livejournal.com/sbg_logs/580019.html?thread=34955443#t34955443) messages (http://things-go-boom.livejournal.com/56519.html) at roughly the same time and was on her bike in a matter of seconds, her mind running wild with scenarios, hopes and doubts. Her bike was running wild with pure speed. Needless to say, it was not difficult to hear her coming with all the fury of a worried pseudo-mother and it did not take her long to arrive.

She cut a course through the school itself and landed right next to the fountain, Lash, Falcon, and still smoking Skyrunner. "Jeff?" One foot off the bike; clear to see was a more primitive version of Jeff's aircraft. The other foot off the bike; clear to see Jeff, much younger, smaller... safe, good, but... looking utterly confused.

"..." She couldn't even think of what to say and still didn't want to believe it.

Oh no. Oh no she saw where this was going. There was Samus. There was Falcon. The last two times...with that purple alien chick and then the robot, she had been shooed away like some sort of common house dog who didn't need things explained.

This time it was a bit different. Jeff was the second person in the school who had talked to her. Called her crazy...sure. Lots of people called her crazy. And those times she had taken a photo of him and Kumatora and him and posted it and then edited one of Falcon and Porky, and the time they all went for ice cream (in retrospect, a pretty terrible idea considering but she didn't know back then), the balls, the waking up in the same bed, the inventions together, the time he said...he said...

Was he really gone? All those memories that she couldn't really share? It came out in a confused mass and angry tone directed at two people who honestly didn't deserve it.

"I swear if you two just waltz off with him I'm gonna..." they could easily take her on, especially since she wasn't in her normal outfit and in a wielder's suit. Lash didn't care. Angry bulldog mode activated. "...just don't."

Samus regarded Lash with a cold glare and nothing more. The wunderkind was making threats? Waltz off with Jeff? Of course that was going to be the plan of action; it was cold outside and standing around a leaking statue in the middle of winter was a foolish idea. As Jeff's friend she should know that, lest her brash nature prevent her from thinking calmly.

"I want the situation explained to me fully." Samus exchanged a look with Falcon, and then Lash again. "Inside." She was a little late to the party, after all, despite the terse text messages.

The blonde woman stepped forward and tentatively put an arm around Jeff's upper back, ushering him away from the machine might possibly burst into flames at any moment. "...Let's get you somewhere warm. We'll figure out how to fix things."

At least they weren't leaving her out of the picture this time. Lash let out a sigh of frustration and followed them inside, the devastated look never leaving her face. She didn't care who THIS Jeff was.

All she knew is she wanted the other Jeff back. The older one. The real one. Petty and selfish thoughts, but that's who she was.

Crowding the confused boy probably wasn't going to be a good idea, but it was bound to happen. In the visible distance a familiar white lab coat came barreling out the front doors of the dormitories and stood around picking out where the distress call he had received was from It didn't take long for the group to come within the scientist's line of sight as they went through another pair of doors, and he was suddenly beelining after them.

He had a bar of soap in his hand.

"Jeff!"

Now was hardly the time, Maxwell.

Lash turn her gaze towards him and stopped walking, perhaps a little part of her wondering how this Jeff would react to seeing one face he could recognize. Just older. And with better looking sideburns.

Tony was not far behind, stumbling over as fast as his legs could carry him. Had be been trailing Maxwell? It was a mystery. Whatever the circumstances that led him here were, he got the text, and just the mere words "JEFF" and "ACCIDENT" alone sent sirens wailing in Tonyland. He was off in the bolt of a lightning strike.

Not sure what exactly to expect of this crash and abnormal situation, he stopped just a little ways behind and to the side of Maxwell, exhaling sharply because he had jogged himself out of breath. "Wh-what's the matter?" he sputtered. "Is Jeff all right? Maxwell? Jeff?" Something DID seem kind of off... but what? The hug was sort of obscuring things for a brief moment.

OK
