HALLOWEEN '10

Who: Whoever!
What: HALLOWEEMS
When: October 31st, all day and all night.
Where: Everywhere!
Warnings: Spooky stuff.

Except it's not really all that dark and stormy. It's a cool, clear night in Final Destination, ready and waiting for shenanigans of all sorts. The streets are full of trick-or-treaters, the front porches are full of pumpkins, the sky is full of stars. All-in-all...a perfect evening.

Of course, nothing is always as it seems. As the night drags on, it becomes clear that something is not quite right. But what is Halloween without a few scares? As someone once said, it's close to midnight, and something evil's lurking in the dark...

[Greetings, Smash Academy, and welcome to your mutli-purpose Halloween log! Go crazy with threads for tricks, treats, meetups, and all your random or planned interaction needs. This log is anything goes! Label your threads with location and time, and remember to link if and when you thread hop! But be warned, Smashers--if you signed up for the mod NPC, your characters might find themselves dealing with an uninvited guest...]

Oh no TEAM ROCKET KID WAIT UP. Lyra skittered after him, making sure to stay ~nice and close~. You know. Just in case if it was something scary. Because she was clearly the kind of girl who scared easily. Boys liked that, right...?

And lo and behold! Just as the intrepid duo rounded the corner, they may be lucky enough to catch a glimpse of a leering orange head, before the mysterious... thing... ducked away into a DARK SCARY ALLEY OH NO. "Whoa!" Lyra blurted. "I definitely saw that! What was that thing?"

Lyra you're getting kind of close, there. Careful, if he jumped she was gonna have a whole lotta Team Rocket Kid falling on her. But in the meantime he was staring at that TINY THING WITH AN ORANGE HEAD...? Why did it have to go into the spooky alleyway? No fair.

There was only one possible thing it could be in a city full of strange creatures from other universes, "...Is it a Pokemon?" If it was a Pokemon RED HAD TO FOLLOW IT. GOTTA CATCH IT. did I say 'catch' I meant 'get some sweet Pokedex information from it.'

Whole lotta Team Rocket Kid on her? Sounded like the perfect Saturday night awwww yeah.

"A Pokemon?" Okay, that had Lyra's attention. If Johto had different Pokemon from Hoenn had different Pokemon from Kanto, then it must have made sense for FDC to have its own set of Pokemon she'd never seen before, right? "Hey, maybe it's a legendary!" They certainly seemed to enjoy spending a lot of time running away from people, anyway. More than she'd seen any other Pokemon do, at least. Which meant OH MAN THERE WAS NO OTHER OPTION BUT TO GIVE CHASE.

"C'mon, we can't let it get away!" Lyra started to reach for Red's hand, but then awkwardly changed her mind halfway and just started running instead. He was the Team Rocket Kid, he didn't need any help keeping up. He was probably ready to backflip right over her head and dragon kick the Mystery 'Mon with blinding speed at any given moment.

"A legendary...?" WHOA. WHOA. Okay, it had Red's attention. TIME TO CHASE IT DOWN.

And then he backflipped right over Lyra's head and dragon kicked the Mystery 'Mon with blinding speed. Actually he just bolted on after Lyra (did she just try to grab his hand that's so awkward... what, did it smell funny?). GONNA CATCH THAT MYSTERY POKEMON

It's not awkward. It's ~twu wuv~. Haven't you ever read any shoujo manga Red jeez.

And lo and behold, there it was! Fleeing and cackling like some kind of pumpkin-headed spooky guy. Lyra snatched a pokeball out of her pocket, preparing to take a wild potshot at Spooky Pumpkin Ghost's back.

Except it suddenly wasn't very pokeball-y anymore. IT WAS..... A PUMPKIN. What that's not scary at all. And since pumpkins are generally a lot heavier than enchanted monster-catching tennis balls, Operation: Throw a Thing didn't... quite go as expected.

"Splat," went the pumpkin. ALL OVER THEIR SHOES GODDAMN...

Spooky Pumpkin Ghost just laughed even harder.

Aw geez these were his good pants. Now they were covered in pumpkin juice. He looked at Lyra, then at Spooky Pumpkin Ghost, then at the splattered pumpkin, then back at Lyra.

He slowly took out his Pokedex. SCANNING... ... ... NO DATA.

It was even accompanied by a nice little BZZZT noise.

So he did the logical thing and tried chucking a Poke Ball at it, too. When it turned into a pumpkin he was able to chuck it a foot before it splattered on the ground. ...Oh.
