HALLOWEEN '10

Who: Whoever!
What: HALLOWEEMS
When: October 31st, all day and all night.
Where: Everywhere!
Warnings: Spooky stuff.

Except it's not really all that dark and stormy. It's a cool, clear night in Final Destination, ready and waiting for shenanigans of all sorts. The streets are full of trick-or-treaters, the front porches are full of pumpkins, the sky is full of stars. All-in-all...a perfect evening.

Of course, nothing is always as it seems. As the night drags on, it becomes clear that something is not quite right. But what is Halloween without a few scares? As someone once said, it's close to midnight, and something evil's lurking in the dark...

[Greetings, Smash Academy, and welcome to your mutli-purpose Halloween log! Go crazy with threads for tricks, treats, meetups, and all your random or planned interaction needs. This log is anything goes! Label your threads with location and time, and remember to link if and when you thread hop! But be warned, Smashers--if you signed up for the mod NPC, your characters might find themselves dealing with an uninvited guest...]

Behind the school -- late night.

Isaac coughed a couple times, holding his arms and rubbing them fervently. It was cold and he had just recently caught an illness. Truly, it upset him because today was supposed to be the day of a magical celebration, one he had never heard of back in Vale. This year would have been his first year celebrating 'Halloween', but it had to be ruined because he was sick.

So, rather than spread his infection to other festival goers, he ran to the back of the school and stood a little off campus, staring into the star-studded sky fearlessly.

He really had missed the point of Halloween, not knowing that this festival was one to rile chills through his body and so he stepped courageously, with little thought as to what paranormal anomaly might have been following him.

The Adept sighed and he pouted, thinking about whether or not he should be a little selfish and head back to the hub of holiday activity.

Isaac was not the only one sitting out of the Halloween festivities, but Hawke was abstaining for different reasons, reasons that mostly involved him being a gigantic wet blanket.

Tonight, however, he at least had a reason to be out and about, albeit not in costume. After last year's zombie episode, Hawke was not too keen on having something like that happen again, and had left his dorm with the intent to patrol. Partly because it was a nice night...but partly because he wanted to hedge his bets and make sure there weren't rampaging zombies again.

He saw Isaac's shadow from around the corner and instantly tensed, wondering why the figure was so still. Hawke knew it was probably just a student, but better safe than sorry, and put his back against the wall, taking a deep breath before springing around the corner.

It was just a student, after all. "Oh."

There was a soft shuffling behind him and the Adept, unaware of 'stranger danger', turned around to face his company. Isaac found himself confronting one who looked older than him...and way stronger at that.

The seventeen year old grinned. "Hello. Are you here to watch the sky too?"

He stepped aside, opening up a space next to him, indicating that he was more than happy having Hawke by his side.

Of all things, Hawke did not expect an invitation, even a non-verbal one. He wasn't quite sure what to think beyond why does everyone at this school have to be so friendly?. It was something he was altogether unaccustomed to.

But the kid wasn't a zombie, at least, so he allowed himself to relax. "I was just...patrolling." He said finally.

[identity profile] silentpsynergy.livejournal.com 2010-10-31 06:32 am (UTC)(link)
Certainly, Hawke was correct in thinking that Isaac was quite strange. Inviting a complete and physically intimidating stranger right up by his side, yes, that is pretty unusual. But Isaac was generally trusting except when things dealt with Felix and welcomed the man.

"Oh, patrol?" the Adept's lips curved into a frown as he adjusted the scarf around his neck. Oh, Stars. It was really cold. "Are people in danger?"

Hawke took that opportunity to gaze around and scout for any impending zombie hordes that could hypothetically descend upon them at any moment. "...No." He said finally, after some consideration.

It seemed rather silly of him to be worried about things like glitch-zombie hordes, anyway, and he resigned himself to taking a seat and gazing upward. "At least, not that I've found."

Feel free to completely ignore this if it's too backdated. ;A; I fail so hard, I know....

Isaac's lips drew into a line. Zombies. He remembered fighting re-dead back in Weyard. It was not pleasant nor did it smell nice.

"Well," his voice was soft as he usually was when he spoke to strangers, "I'm sure nothing is going to happen today."

Although he really wished he could watch the festivities.

"So...if you're on patrol..." the seventeen year old began, "why are you just staying here?" He laughed.

no way man i'll tag foreverrr

"One can never be too sure." He folded his arms. "This school has a habit of being completely unpredictable."

It dawned on the commanding officer that he didn't know this student, at least not personally. "I haven't found any zombies yet." A shrug, and then he extended his hand. "My name is Hawke."

Lol yayyyyy~~

A smile made the boy's face glow with childish excitement. "This school is an amazing place, then. So much happens..." he coughed twice, "...happens on a daily basis."

Then there fell a brief silence in which Isaac stared dreamily into the planar star field overhead. The night was gorgeous. But a strong hand had invited his own for a shake and Isaac accepted.

"Mine's Isaac." He gave his welcoming grin to Hawke and shook although his grip couldn't have been as strong as the other's. "Are you a student here?"

[identity profile] black-hawke.livejournal.com 2010-11-12 11:16 pm (UTC)(link)
"Yes." Though Hawke wasn't quite excited about that as the student. "It's certainly unlike any place I've ever been." And, as he came from a place like Black Hole, that was saying something.

He eyed his unexpected companion carefully. It was difficult for Hawke to understand such optimism, but then again, a great many of the students faced the academy's oddities without flinching.

They shook hands. "I teach, actually. Tactics and strategy."

[identity profile] silentpsynergy.livejournal.com 2010-11-24 05:02 am (UTC)(link)
"It is!" Isaac smiled, voice picking up more and more joy. "My world," he started, "is quite boring compared to this."

But then his eyes widened and he looked at the man who stood beside him with a little incredulity. "You're a teacher!?" And he had been talking so casually! Of course, he hadn't known that Hawke was anything of the sort "Sorry...I didn't know." Well, what else could he have said?

[identity profile] black-hawke.livejournal.com 2010-11-24 05:12 am (UTC)(link)
"That's all right." It was often difficult to tell who was a student and who was not, especially with twenty-something buffoons like Max running around failing classes. In any case, Hawke was not offended in the slightest.

Still, he thought it best to steer the conversation in a different direction. "Where do you come from?"
