Touring! Misty sure likes it!

Who: Misty, Falkner
What: TOURING. Around the school. Because... Falkner needs it.
Where: The school, of course.
When: July 24

This was only to remind Misty that she'd really needed to keep in better contact with the other leaders.

She kept in some decent contact, namely with the Kanto leaders, but since she had hung out with Jasmine while she was still around, she hadn't really been with the other leaders. This was something she had to fix. In fact, how was she with the school in general? She wasn't around as much as usual. That, as well, was something that had to be remedied.

Falkner was a Johto gym leader anyway, right? She never really kept in contact with any of the Johto leaders at all unless it was for important business, if at all. Maybe she should broaden those horizons. Morty was already at the school, and now Falkner had just arrived. This just gave her a bit more initiative.

That was enough of that train of thought, though. It was time to focus on why she was meeting with Falkner today. She headed for his place and gave his door a knock.

Remembering their arrangement, Falkner tried not to tie his hands up with any kind of commitments that would render him unable to meet with Misty on time, so he answered promptly.

He smiled a little upon seeing her for the first time. "Hi, Misty! You're right on time." He pressed the door open even further. "I must say it's a lot nicer meeting you when you're not a one-eyed bug."

Falkner couldn't help but notice how jittery Misty was acting. Was she nervous? Why would she need to be nervous? Oh, it was probably the bugs. He had only been trying to make light of it. She was about to make his head swim in circles with how fast her mouth moved, so he focused on one question at a time as he closed the door behind him and followed her.

"Anything of interest that we pass by would be a good start while we head to the stadium," he decided. "I heard it could do all kinds of gymnastics, like fold into whatever layout or terrain you desire. My class will take place there."

[identity profile] airmajesty.livejournal.com 2010-07-30 10:15 pm (UTC)(link)
"That would be excellent," he said with a smile, imagining what kinds of possibilities were open to him. "Maybe I can play with the controls a little just to see what it can come up with.

"Of course, that also means stages that present a disadvantage to your specialty type," Falkner added, smile plunging as he imagined some kind of horrible electric field that probably starred in a nightmare or two. No, he really didn't like electric types or anything that had to deal with them if that wasn't made obvious by now. Go figure.

Falkner pushed the door open for the both of them and acknowledged their similar battle weaknesses. So she was thinking the same! "Then we shall hope there's little of that. I can easily picture all our opponents taking advantage of it."

[identity profile] airmajesty.livejournal.com 2010-08-03 12:07 am (UTC)(link)
Ahh, it was big, spacious, and provided a healthy amount of room. Falkner's attention was robbed by the sprawl of field available for use and the climbing rows of spectator's seats. Peeking above the canopy was the comforting color of the sky. He assumed the roof could close in on itself, but he preferred open stadiums.

...Actually, this didn't look quite as spectacular as he had been expecting. It looked just like an especially large stadium for staged Pokemon battle events. There must be more than meets the eye, he thought. Everything in Final Destination City proved to be that way.

"Hmm... Up there," he pointed. "It looks like there's a control panel locked in behind glass. I bet that's where it changes. That door must lead up to it." His finger descended and without any of Misty's input, he began to head towards it.

[identity profile] airmajesty.livejournal.com 2010-08-05 03:56 pm (UTC)(link)
Just by staring at all the knobs and dials and meters littering the control station, Falkner's mind boggled. Technology like this was no specialty of his, and he was kind of tempted to play it safe and go with voice input. It sounded a lot less complicated. "Voice sounds easier if you ask me..." He gestured towards the mess of controls. "What do we tell it to do? 'Change stage to... an aquatic terrain'," he attempted.

It didn't listen because Falkner only has the Zephyr Badge

...At first, there was nothing. Falkner folded his arms and stared out at the field. "It's never that simple, is it? Don't they have some kind of manual lying around here--"

Oh, nevermind. The stage was morphing from bleak astroturf for miles to accommodate a water bed. Craggy boulders rose up from beneath the filling current, as well as platforms and stretches of turf for land dwellers. Falkner grinned at the transformation and quit looking for a newbie's guide on how to tell your stage what to do. "Ah, I take it back! Nice." He looked to Misty for her reaction.

Just what he had been waiting to see. What kinds of settings would be advantageous to his birds? Wind thermals? Anything spacious enough to execute as many aerial maneuvers as possible would do. "That should be interesting. I wonder what it can come up with...

"Okay. Change stage to an aerial type of plane." The stadium was flushed of all water in a way that defied physics and was replaced with a staggeringly dimension-breaking expanse of clouds. Essentially, the stage became this:

Durr. Falkner was a little lost for words here.

[identity profile] airmajesty.livejournal.com 2010-08-11 02:36 am (UTC)(link)
akfhakjhsfahf was exactly how Falkner felt about this whole scenery change too. How were they even in the stadium anymore? Where were the bleachers? What happened to the floors? It felt like they were high up in the air with the giant floating Pokemon! His hands gripped the edge of the control panel in uncontainable suspense as he tried to decipher whether the Pokemon were alive or not.

"...They're moving, Misty..." That Snorlax was definitely breathing over there. Talk About Creepy...

[identity profile] airmajesty.livejournal.com 2010-08-11 07:08 pm (UTC)(link)
Falkner attempted to straighten out a little, but it was a little hard not to be absorbed by the ever-changing scenery filled with living, breathing, floating Pokemon. "Change... it. Um, all right. How do I... Ch-change the stage to a... desert. Please." He named off the first kind of terrain that popped into his head, just so Misty would stop wigging out next to him. What a sensitive person.

And then, the entire stage was consumed by this image:

Too bad. You put too much emphasis on the s, Falkner. Now say it one more time, only with feeling.

One of Falkner's eyebrows twitched. "That's... not what I had asked for. At all."

[identity profile] airmajesty.livejournal.com 2010-08-12 12:16 am (UTC)(link)
Falkner let go of a calm sigh as the stage morphed yet again. At least it performed what he was expecting. Maybe it liked Misty better? Tch. The stadium didn't have opinions anyway.

"Still, this is all pretty amazing." He gave the control board another look-over. "I'll have to practice with it some other time. It makes me wonder how far it can actually go." Falkner was so tempted to ask the stage to transform into something completely ridiculously foolish like somebody's nose or the end of the universe just to see what it would do. "And how to they come up with all those props... I still don't know if they're real or not."

[identity profile] airmajesty.livejournal.com 2010-08-12 04:01 am (UTC)(link)
His sight peeled off the aquarium in front of them and focused on Misty. A smile sketched onto his face as he replied spiritedly, "If that's a challenge, then I'm looking forward to it. I can tell it will be a good match."

[identity profile] airmajesty.livejournal.com 2010-08-13 12:30 am (UTC)(link)
"Maybe that's for the best," Falkner acceded, glancing back beyond the screen. "I don't want to be held responsible in case of the worst. It was fun while it lasted." His hands scooted up his sides and landed on his hips. "Okay, Stadium, please return to normal." Likewise, the building obeyed and soaked up all the water from the stage impossibly fast and folded back into a normal blank slate generic platform.

"You were really looking forward to show me the pool, I think," he reminded with a knowing grin. "Remember?"

[identity profile] airmajesty.livejournal.com 2010-08-13 12:51 am (UTC)(link)
Falkner had to give it some thought. He wasn't very fond of the activity, but it was more like he never lent it much attention. "I suppose. I don't do it often."

Puns: you're full of them aren't you

[identity profile] airmajesty.livejournal.com 2010-08-13 02:50 am (UTC)(link)
Oh wow, you got him smiling again. If Misty was passionate about all things aquatic, then Falkner was all about the skies. "Yes! I do. There is nothing like soaring along the wind on your partner's beautiful wings. Not only is it refreshing, but liberating. I love that feeling... Have you ever flown on the back of a Pokemon before?"

i'm gay and completely late. :'(

[identity profile] airmajesty.livejournal.com 2010-09-15 04:22 am (UTC)(link)
Incidentally, Pelipper was flying through Falkner's mind as well. Misty used water types, so adding Pelipper to her roster didn't sound like such a bad idea, in his opinion. "Have you considered Pelipper?" he asked.

Oops your loss |D

"You're not alone in that, for I too haven't been as far as Hoenn... but I think you'll be pleasantly surprised to find that Wingull can be spotted down by the waves of Vermillion's coast. That's just a hop and a skip from Cerulean!"

It was just about as big as he expected, considering the size of campus. "Impressive," he mused. "It looks well tended to. You must come here every day."
