merry merry christmas, and I want you to know

Who: YOU
What: KISSLETOES
When: December 14th - January 1st
Where: Everywhere
Warnings: Sloppy makeouts.

SUDDENLY, AND WITHOUT WARNING...

title or description

The entire school has become covered in mistletoe overnight. It grows out of the walls! The ceilings! Everywhere you least expect it? HOW CAN THIS BE??

It's probably best not to think about it. Attempts to uproot the plants or burn them away only makes the plants grow back faster. For the time being, it seems the school must live with it.

[OOC INSTRUCTIONS:
+ Post dudes, get kisses!
+ Some (NOT ALL) plants are cursed. If you manage to step under a cursed plant, you will exchange a memory when or if you exchange a kiss. The memories will be first-person and very vivid, and characters will feel like they are experiencing the memory in real time, though in reality the transfer is instantaneous. Memories can be as short, long, happy, sad, or traumatic as you like.
+ If you'd like to participate, we highly suggest making a list of a few memories (with accompanying links/descriptions) that are up for grabs, and linking or posting the list in your top-level comment. Memory exchange is COMPLETELY OPTIONAL. When in doubt, OOC communication!
+ PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE TAG YOUR CHARACTERS
+ That's it, we love you.

Normally, Vianca tended to enjoy the mistletoe season since the berries made for a delightful snack for her immune tummy. That wasn't the case anymore, however, so Vianca had little reason to spend any time more than necessary around the other plants.

She was strangely good at being where mistletoe was not, and quick to scatter when it was present, so you might have to be quick with this one.

... Or just find her stuck, though it was likely she would just stand there reading instead of being obvious about any plight.

Don't worry, not-being-obvious-about-being-stuck girl. This giant dog is going to kiss you anyway.

Ah. Yes. Thank you, terrifyingly huge creature. She was just going to remain frozen in place because YOU WERE TERRIFYING.

You get so many kisses, then. He's just going to keep kissing you.

NO bad very bad. Realizing she wasn't eaten quite yet, Vianca tried to squirm away from this loving (?) onslaught.

"Stop. Don't. Please, don't."

Adorable giant puppy looks down at you quizzically. Why don't you like kisses, tiny girl? He whines at you adorably.

Knuckles was pretty happy to be heading back to his dorm. It had been a long day. A very long day. So, he was striding through the halls at a brisk pace, hoping to get somewhere that he could find some sanctuary.

Though, wait a second... wasn't that...? No. This girl had pink hair. Vianca's hair was white. Couldn't be the same girl. Though, this girl was reading a book. Plus, didn't Humans often dye their hair? It couldn't hurt to check.

"Hey. Uh... are you...? You're not Vianca, are ya?"

Hard to tell with her face obscured by pages.

The tiny girl (had she gotten tinier??) paused as she flipped a page, glancing up over the book at Knuckles.

The freckles were new. The bright eyes that stared at him were blue, not red, but they still regarded him in that same piercing sort of way. She was quiet for a moment, almost as if she had not actually heard the question. That wasn't the case.

"I am."

He'd heard of hair dye. Sure. But where did the freckles come from? Hadn't Vianca been pretty monotone in color the last time they spoke? Were like... press on freckles some kind of Human fashion trend he hadn't seen yet? Humans. Wow.

"Well, then - Hi!" he said, smiling at her and walking closer. "How's your day goin'?"

Hopefully she hadn't had too many mistletoe related worries.

Well, Knuckles wasn't a very large tiger dog, so he had that going for him. She was suddenly nervous again, though she didn't show it, but not because of mistletoe worries. Had she known, she probably would have tried to flee.

It was a lie to say it was nothing personal, but at least it wasn't because of anything bad. He was just too nice. She didn't deserve his continued kindness.

"It is a day like any other," she replied quietly when she found there was no way to avoid it. "Hello... Thank you. For the fruit."

"Like any other, huh? I dunno about that. The mistletoe stuff isn't exactly normal, right?"

At least he hoped not.

"Oh! Hey, glad you liked it! I wasn't real sure what sort of stuff you'd enjoy. I was thinkin' a book because you work in the Library. But then it was kinda like, wait, duh, she's got plenty of books already because, Y'know. She works in the Library."

Brilliant deductive reasoning. The Echidna Mind at work.

"I'm just sorry I couldn't find that flower you wanted - I'm usually better at findin' stuff."

He had no idea whether she was caught up in things, or if she was simply looking around. And truth be told, the thought almost didn't occur to him. Soryk had thought a lot about the plants he had saved, the ones she was unable to use. It was still very odd to see the girl with once long white hair, suddenly with pink and shorter. He wondered if he'd ever get accustomed to it.

But on the other hand, it rendered Vianca somewhat... unforgettable. And Soryk decided that he preferred that. If it kept her in his mind, then that was its purpose and there was nothing poor about it.

"...Vianca," he managed to greet her as carefully as he could, still trying to develop a way to speak with her without being completely cold. For she hadn't deserved it and he had somehow grown with the notion that mayhap he didn't want to be cold to everyone.

Someone greeting her carefully, or in a friendly manner in some cases, was something that Vianca was not entirely accustomed to. It had come to be regarded as something to be cautious about to a degree. There was no telling what degree of hurt there would be later if she started to become comfortable.

The pikmin turned to look up at Soryk, her surprise at being spoken to neatly tucked away like everything else. "Yes." Not quite a question. A bit of confirmation? It was not abundantly clear, but it was a response nonetheless.

The year prior, he helped her get the berries. He hadn't quite known why, but he hadn't pried either, which was somewhat uncharacteristic of him. Seeing her again almost seemed a happy circumstance. If he could manage to let himself experience 'joy' of any magnitude.

"You know well enough what happens to those who remain stationary for too long," he began with a short little nod. "Would you like an escort?" Because he knew she didn't need one and he could be quite pleased with some time in her company.

Zero had been patrolling the library when a sudden mistletoe sprung out above him, trapping him in the literature section - right by ancient drama and poetry. He'd been doing so well, too... he could only curse himself for this carelessness.

But now he was stuck, and in some dreary aisle where few ventured (now that there wasn't any weekly required readings from the old Literature teacher). Not even he cared to pass the time by reading the stuff. Sure they were classics, but not of his world. Even at a glance, they just seemed dry and frivolous, with no offering of practical knowledge.

So he just had to stand there until someone rescued him, then. Welp.

[personal profile] vianca 2015-01-10 07:39 am (UTC)(link)
Luckily for Zero, there was at least one person that read this stuff for fun and profit. There were a few missing from the shelves, and they were swiftly making their way back to their dusty homes via the arms of the librarian.

.. Besides, it had been a while since Vianca saw the security robot disappear through the shelves, and she was sure she hadn't seen him leave. It was a good idea to make sure he hadn't gotten lost. A common enough occurrence when you didn't live there.

Her new pink hairdo was hard to miss as it appeared at the end of the aisle, steadily approaching closer.

"... Do you need assistance?"

Normally, Zero would've been a bit more aloof about needing help, but... it'd been over half an hour since he saw another person, and he was still trapped. The librarian was really his best bet of getting out of here and back to his own duties, there was no denying that.

That didn't mean he had to like it, though. Frowning, he crossed his arms and deadpanned, "Yes."
