[Open] A Visit to a City on the Sea

What: Blaze allows visitors to see her dimension, and her world's version of Soleanna

This wasn't the first time she tried to bring people with her to her home dimension, but last time it happened, things were... not so pleasant. They had arrived in the middle of an attack by Dr. Eggman Nega's forces, and thankfully were able to repel him. This time, however, things were different. All was peaceful and calm. She had talked with Jon some time ago about letting people visit, and now seemed as good a time as any. The shadow bugs were hardly a problem now, and the opportunity was there.

And so with a stable portal in place thanks to the Sol Emeralds, Blaze was allowing people to visit her home dimension, and its capitol city of Soleanna.



Visitors were free to explore to their heart's content, so long as they didin't interfere with the regular goings-on around town. And any trouble would be dealt with personally by Blaze. She had her eye on everyone, although not at all times, and certainly more focused on the known troublemakers who happened to visit...

((Feel free to start your own threads! Soleanna in Blaze's dimension is very much like a Venetian town, with all the shops and amenities you'd expect. Most of the population are koalas. Have fun!))

Wandering About

Now this felt more like home, the wandering koalas aside. There was a pause to wonder if they were simply just furry little people, but given the state of the Academy he just left from and the means by which he arrived here, well... needless to say the culture shock had long been over. After all, when he arrived, he discovered his roommate was on fire. Naturally.

This place was certainly cleaner than Stansbury, his hometown, and he ran his palm against a building to admire the architecture. Or he just looked like a creep getting too fresh with a wall. Whatever.

In any case, Randall is wandering around, hanging out with koalas - er, from a distance, anyway - or just taking notes as he goes along. Nerd.

He certainly seemed curious. Blaze could at least go offer her insight...

"Are there any questions you'd like answered?" she asked.

Randall hadn't expected a voice to address him so suddenly, though it didn't startle him beyond an extra heartbeat. He turned, eyes forward, then realized he had to bring them down a tad.

"C - " He paused. No need to point out the obvious. "Yes, if you don't mind. Where are we?" He took a look around, hand in presentation. "How did we get here? By what means?" He looked back to the buildings. "Does your architecture vary? What about the history? Are the... residents here the natives?"

Holy shit.

"You don't know?" she asked. "I thought if you came through, you'd know where the portal led... This is Soleanna, my home. We got here through the power of the Sol Emeralds. You're quite curious..."

Very nerd. Such questions. Wow.

"Of course! Wouldn't you be as well?" Randall took another look around, meanwhile asking, "Sol Emeralds...?" And his eyes fell back to her. "And they have power?"

"I suppose so, if I had come to a place I didn't understand," she agreed. "You're in Soleanna, the capitol city of my kingdom. I am Blaze, the ruler here," she began to explain. "My family has ruled for generations. The architecture of this dimension is varied, as is its history. The residents here are the natives. And the Sol Emeralds are the gems that support this world, and act as the doorway between this world and Final Destination City."

As much as Eirika was often caught up in thinking Renais was the only world she was meant to go visit, something about taking the time to visit someplace less straining on the nerves was appetising. Truth be told, Blaze was someone Eirika had respected from the get-go and learning more about her could prove to be advantageous. And for that reason alone, she'd hoped that she could find the princess cat and make some idle conversation. Or at least practise making idle conversation, because for one reason or another, Eirika felt like her grasp on that was slipping.

There were plenty of things to look at, plenty of things to get lost in, and truth be told, there was a surprising ease that came with the experience. She'd have to ask Blaze how it was even possible, for if Blaze could share a part of her world with the academy, Eirika wanted to do the very same.

If it was possible.

She would get the opportunity soon enough, when she finally found Blaze, just enjoying the sights and sounds of home. "How are you enjoying my world so far?" Blaze asked, looking much more at peace than usual here of all places.

Wearing a smile was the easy part. Not feeling slightly envious was the difficult in retrospect. Eirika tipped her head to the side as she eyed Blaze with some consideration and finally nodded as she gave yet another investigative glance around.

"It is very beautiful," she admitted easily. "Calming. Nothing at all like the world I am from." And as she turned to get a better look at Blaze, she continued. "How is this possible? How did you manage this? It would take a great effort for such a thing to even exist, much less to be shared with us, no?"

"By recovering the Sol Emeralds," Blaze explained. "They are what sent me to Final Destination City in the first place, and with their power I could return. And now that the passage is established, I can bring other people with me."

"They have tremendous power, power that not even I understand fully. But as their guardian, they obey me."

"I see..."

Except she both did and did not. It was just one more thing that she didn't particularly understand fully. She knew of the stones and knew that Blaze had been searching for them. Understanding the true 'how' of the situation was lost to the teal-haired princess, however.

"What a miraculous power, indeed," Eirika found herself continuing. "I can think of a few who I think would misuse it. I think your hands are perfect for wielding it. It must be wonderful to see your home whenever it pleases you to."

And Jon didn't even much care for Tom Jones.

He'd been looking forward to this trip. Seeing Blaze's world for himself. Finding out a little bit more about the Cat by seeing where she'd come from.

There were lots of Koalas here, which she may have mentioned to him at one point. But he still found it a touch surprising. What was this? The Australia dimension? It looked more like classical Europe from his world. He would have expected... uh... whatever animals generally inhabited classical Europe. (Boars? Bears? Wolves?)

Considering this was Blaze's world and she was probably busy catching up on affairs of state, however, he didn't want to be burdensome by absorbing her time. Instead, he decided to wander the city a little and let her find him when-and-if she was ready.

He grabbed a few stares for being a tall Human wandering a city of short Koalas. But he figured that might be preferable to receiving screams of terror for being a tall wolf.

Yes, Blaze had affairs of state to deal with, but that hardly took up all of her time. Especially when so many of her friends had come to see her world.

When she finally found Jon, she approached, calm now that she was home. "You seem lost," she said.

"Do I?" he asked, turning his head to offer her a rare smile. "I suppose I must. I've never been here before, after all."

He leaned on a railing overlooking the canals.

"You've a beautiful city, here. I mean that. It's the kind of place folk where I'm from pay hundreds of pounds to go on holidays."

"It is," Blaze said, leaning against the railing next to him. "I've lived here my whole life... The rest of my world is lovely as well, but I feel like I don't get to enjoy it as much as I should. Protecting it from harm tends to be all-encompassing."

"Aye, I can see how that particular duty would have a hold on your time."

He looked up from the water, regarding her again. "Well, at least this time, you've some time to follow your own interests. I had, ah.. I had thought to invite you to lunch if you weren't busy. Then I realized that I've no idea where to go that's any good. And that's even assuming my dollars from Final Destination city are valid tender here. Which I doubt."

Floating city. Fancy shops everywhere. The portal's being held open by emeralds. This place was a treasure trove. There were more lights than he would have preferred, and he looked out of place among the more common fuzzy residents, but that wasn't about to stop Garrett from taking full advantage of Blaze's hospitality. First, he was just going to stake out some of the shops- figure out which ones had the most expensive wares, and then he would strike, and get back through the portal before anyone noticed anything was amiss.

The hooded figure seemed to glide up and down the streets, koalas stepping aside for him absentmindedly as if they didn't even realize he was there.

Speaking of the more unsavoury types, Blaze made preparations in the event of anyone looking to cause trouble on this visit. The royal guard was instructed to be vigilant, and Blaze herself kept herself busy watching the city, just in case Eggman or Bowser planned something. That didn't stop her from taking note of a shifty figure, ducking in and out of crowds. The princess herself would be keeping an eye on him.

Even in the land of fuzzy talking animals, it wasn't hard to pick the purple talking cat out of the crowd. He made sure to keep track of her as well as he meandered through the crowds, stopping to case window shop anything that caught his fancy. He was going to enjoy this challenge, he smirked to himself as he quietly picked the pocket of the passerby that brushed past him,

If Sonic had said that the city was unfamiliar to him, then he would be lying. Of course, that's because he'd been there. Multiple times. A city just like this one rested in his own world, and he'd found himself sneaking away to visit it every once in a while.

Why?

He couldn't say, but there was something, this feeling of missing something there, some important thing he'd had to do, and he couldn't figure out what it was. Only that it was big, important and personal. It might have been his imagination, but the feeling just refused to go away, even after years. He thought about asking around if anyone's seen a misplaced destiny, but they'd probably just look at him funny...

Sonic never could have guessed that there'd be another version of it in Blaze's world! He almost didn't believe her when she said so! It was almost the exact same city too, save for some small renovations to the old city that was probably overseen by Blaze herself.

...Speaking of Blaze, that was Sonic's first order of business. To find her and say hello. Maybe it's time to make some memories to go with the mysteries.

It had been entirely too long since Blaze had spent any kind of quality time with Sonic. And now that he was back, it was something she was more than happy to change. So when he eventually caught up with her, she smiled, a rare thing indeed.

"Sonic. It's a pleasure seeing you here when the world's not about to end," she commented.

The world about to end...? Well, you know me! Never a dull moment.

[But no srsly what did she mean by that? He'd ask, but her smile is so damn rare that he'd rather it stick around instead of become sacrificed for the sake of an explanation.]

Your city's amazing, by the way! I mean, I knew you were a princess, but man...

[He fidgets.]

For some reason I never put together that you'd rule over a whole kingdom, let alone one like this!

[Blaze was definitely embarrassed by that, and blushed a bit. She coughed to recompose herself.]

I... Thank you, Sonic. I suppose I may not be the most... traditional ruler out there.

I know there's a similar city in your world... I read about it in the library. I suppose it's fitting that such a place might exist in two dimensions. I rarely get to just... admire it.
