POOL PARTY BABY IT WAS A COOL PARTY
Who: YOU
What: IT WAS A POOL PARTY FOR THE COOL KIDS AT MY SCHOOL
When: ALL DAY SATURDAY, AUGUST 10th
Where: THE POOL
Warnings: HOLY GUACAMOLE, WE'VE GOT CHIPS
The posters have been up all week, and today
is the day.

The outdoor pool has been filled with all manner of pool-related recreational materials, including but not limited to pool noodles and as many floaties as one could possibly want. Everything is perfect for an afternoon of food, music, and water-based recreation.
Just don't run on the concrete, or the lifeguard might revoke your pool privileges.

When he got the chance, he slipped away from the party to approach her. Once close enough, he bent down and tried talking with her.
"Hey. You okay over there?" he asked in a hushed voice. "You look kinda... lonely over here."

It was such an embarrassment for Mondo to see her like this. If it had been any other human that approached her just now, she might've been tempted to just walk away but she couldn't do that to Mondo. Because like Red, Mondo held a very special place inside Chiyo's heart.
In spite of that, there wasn't any answer she could give him. Obviously, she didn't feel well and she surely felt deeply lonely, but like a pouting, spoiled child, she stubbornly didn't want to do anything about it. Instead of solving problems herself, she just wanted someone else to take notice and fix her problems for her; to get her out of the rut she placed herself in. In essence, she had already given up on making things better for herself.
So... Instead of giving a proper response, she simply whined. Whined like a baby would cry when something was wrong but couldn't tell you exactly what.

"What's the matter? Somethin' scarin' you over there?" He turned his head to survey the area, trying to pinpoint something 'scary'. "It's not the crowd, is it? Or is it the loud music? If it is, I'll make 'em turn it down!"

She didn't change her demeanor, but at the very least, she lightly shook her head 'no.'

I suck. Mondo tempts me to do a lot of things that may seem out of place. |D;;
But still, she worried. Despite how Red treated her, she didn't want to rat him out just so Mondo could pound on him. She'd actually feel terrible about that if she caused a fight, especially between people she cared for. She had no idea what to do, though. Changing into her human form would make communicating easier, but she really didn't want to rely on that form if she could help it right now. Also... Recalling how Mondo tended to react around her when she was human.... Well, things could just get awkward for the both of them.
But then again.... The way he reacts when she's in human form.... Chiyo didn't think it would be possible again, but she nearly found herself smiling. He really was adorable with his shyness towards girls. It was that shyness of his that made her feel normal with her shyness towards people in general, like she wasn't alone in being a such a shy person and that it was okay to be so.
Now she was just torn wondering which form to be in, which was very strange considering how she was determined to avoid using her human form for a while, but wow. Surprisingly, this human named Mondo seemed to have some unknown effects on her. And, well.... Screw it. Let's just change because there were questions swimming in her mind that were just dying to submerge.
"Why... would you go so far for me?" she asked quietly, sticking close to the legs of the chairs and table. She was clad in her school uniform and the only new feature about her was her now very short hair.
I'M SORRY I COULDN'T GET AROUND MONDO'S IMPULSE TO GET AGGRO
"I... Well, why else? It's unforgivable... I just can't stand back and allow them to get away with this kind of crap. It just ain't right."
DON'T BE SORRY. YOU AND MONDO ARE JUST MAGIC. ILU BOTH.
"Thank you for being angry for me...." she said softly as she looked him in the eyes. Perhaps somewhere down the line, Chiyo wanted someone to get angry for her because with her personality, she couldn't find it in herself to get angry at the people she loves and cares for.

"My friend..." Wait, were they still even friends? No. Friends didn't hurt each other like that, and the revelation of that just made her cry. Her voice cracked terribly underneath her stress and hurt. "Uh, I mean. S-Someone." She took a deep shaky breath. She could do this. It was just a few words. "H-Hurt me. Some... someone dear."
no subject
"Ahh, that's the worst," he said. "Having someone you're supposed to trust cause you pain... How'd you get hurt?"
no subject
"P-Pushing and pulling... and just... h-horrible truths...." Hooray for ambiguity, but she couldn't bring herself to go into great detail about it. Thinking back to what Red said to her, Chiyo grew quiet before hesitantly asking, "Am I... really someone no one would want?"

"I don't know what to think, Mondo. He... I-If I had never met him, I... I don't think I could've trusted humans again and now... h-he says not to trust anyone or I'll get hurt like he hurt me. But I... I want to trust. And I want to trust in you, too."
She hiccuped and quietly added, "...Can't I?"
no subject
"I gotta admit... I've let a lotta people down before. I've done stupid things, reckless things, selfish things that put others in danger. I can't be the one to decide whether you do or don't put your trust in me, but... here's what I can guarantee. I'd never, ever want to hurt you. You can trust me on that much."
no subject
"Will you promise me?" she asked with a wavering voice. "I would never hurt you either, so... so please promise me."
no subject
"I promise."
The moment those austere words left his lips, he felt an inner resolve to do whatever it took to make sure his promise stood strong, even against all his failures. Kind of like it always did when he made a serious vow, but this type of resolve was different in the sense that it rose out of the rubble of all the shattered covenants he'd been leaving behind- a final chance to prove himself to himself. It was a very big deal to him, and if he couldn't withhold something so important between them, then he truly deserved to die. Even if it hadn't been a spoken promise to begin with, hurting her would still be unforgivable either way.
"By the way... who's the guy that pushed you around? Point him out to me. I wanna set that bastard straight."
no subject
"Red...?" She paused. Oops. Maybe she shouldn't have said that. She didn't know how exactly Mondo was going to "set him straight" but she hoped it wouldn't involve violence. Then she gasped. Was Red actually there are the pool party? She felt incredibly silly for not having thought of that sooner and cowered slightly as she tried to see if he was anywhere nearby. "I don't... I don't know where he is."
She wondered if she should tell Mondo about him, but after Mondo's spoken promise, she felt like she could trust and confide in him more.
"He... usually wears a red cap and has black hair. Um. He might have other Pokemon around him? Since he's a Pokemon trainer."

But THEN. Out of the corner of his eye, Mondo spotted a dude with a red hat and black hair, minding his own business, strolling over to the isolated spot where ice cream was peddled. Just looking at him pissed him off. It had to be him. The delinquent stood abruptly and began to stalk over there with malicious purpose. The dark look on his face didn't suggest he had any nice intentions to spare.
"Be right back! I'm gonna teach him a lesson in how to treat people..."
And then he beat up the wrong guy, the endAnd then, he was gone.
