[Open] Sunday Strolls
Who: A Mountain, Campus and You.
What: Watch your heads, cause someone's not watching their steps. There's destruction afoot.
When: October 4th.
Where: All across campus.
As far as Sundays went, this one was pretty typical, despite the lingering blood moon that persisted well into the morning. If you disregarded that, you could certainly call it lovely. The air held the crisp kiss of autumn's chill, the breeze rustling the fire hued foliage of campus. Eventually the sun's golden rays chased away the moon, bringing with it the deep blue of the sky.
It was entirely possible to forget anything bizarre was happening on such a nice day. Monsters, earthquakes, pssht. Those didn't exist today.
At least not until the first rumble echoed off the edge of campus. And then the next. And the next. And the next. Each one closer, stronger, rattling everything that wasn't fixed in place. The more astute in their panic might have noticed that it was far too rhythmic in its shocks. It was like a heartbeat, or a particularly strong footstep down rickety stairs.
Or perhaps they just noticed that a huge foot had come crashing through the roof of whatever building they happened to be in. Probably a striking detail, that.
The mountains, it seemed, were out for a stroll.

The colossal beast was ambling without a care in the world. The school buildings it was walking over (and through) posed no issue for it. Clearly it was just enjoying the fine Sunday like anyone else would. The mountains it had apparently wandered down from must have looked too boring, or maybe that little wolf thing had been making too much of a racket.
Either way, it was here and it was peacefully walking directly through Smash Academy.
[Open log! You may want to react to the happenings, or help people evacuate! Maybe there's something to be done about the creature? Watch your step! Questions and plotting can be found here! ]

[He loads another one into the launcher.]
We need to get closer!
[How close? Well, he takes off himself, the suit's speed boost taking hold after a moment, heading for the back of its foreleg. It may not cause much damage, but a blow to the back of the knee might cause it to stagger.]
no subject
You thinkin' back of the knee?
[Because that seemed like the best course of action to him, too.]
no subject
Nope - he had gone to get his bike. His blisteringly fast hoverbike.
He whizzed past the other two men - the both of them outclassed him in terms of pure damage dealt from their projectiles, but Zero could at least try to draw the mountain towards his direction so that they could get into position.
With one hand on the bike and another on the buster, he charged his shots and fired repeatedly at the colossus's leg. If explosions were going to barely faze it, then maybe spearing it with long, barbed Ice Javelins would get its attention.]
no subject
Precisely!
[About that time the hairbot zooms past him, and Gordon realizes what he's up to. He's trying to turn the thing to get a better shot.]
The left foreleg! OUR left, I mean! It'll takes less force to collapse it then it would to injure it!
[He stops once it looks like he'd get a decent shot of the back of the leg, and lets loose another rocket.]
no subject
In fact it felt more like rearing up out of the way, its whole body creaking and grinding loudly as it blanketed even more area in its shadow. The rocket missed any tender looking joints Gordon might have been hoping for, landing another shot on the foot that was now crashing down down doooown with its barely glimmering sole.]

[El Diablo was a mean sunnuva cuss and could drop a Bloater with a few shots and any man Joel had ever come across in one. Its bullet flew straight and true and hit the Colossus in its shimmering hoof.]
Damn it - if that does anythin' I'll be surprised. We gotta get closer and we gotta get more fire power. I'm mostly small arms and short range explosives, man...
no subject
But then it got SHOT. SHOT IN THE FOOT.
Now the whole creature was coming down with no control of where it went or how much of it hit the ground, an entire mountain falling to its knees and crushing the earth beneath it. The shockwave was palpable, and wasn't about to do anyone on foot any favors.]
no subject
[Zero hadn't expected a single shot from a handgun to affect the mountain so dramatically when being pelted with missiles and javelins only seemed to peeve it off. Had Joel managed to hit some kind of vulnerable spot?
Well, no time to ruminate on it right now - the titan was momentarily felled, but it likely wouldn't stay down for long. They had to take advantage of it while they could. Thankfully, being on a hoverbike meant that whatever shockwaves were going through the ground weren't touching Zero at all. Gordon and Joel probably weren't so lucky, though - well, their ride was coming.
With the speed of a racecar, he zoomed towards the two.]
You must have hit a weak point! It might have more, somewhere else on its body.
I can take one of you - unless either of you knows how to ride a bike. [It couldn't possibly be that different from a normal bike, right?]
no subject
[As Zero speeds up, he's halfway to his feet.]
I can ride. [With a frictionless car of his own he's gotten more used to blazing, idiotic speeds lately, but since it's a bike and not a car, the launcher stays on the ground as he heads for the bike.]
What about you, Joel?
no subject
Don't worry. I can ride.
[Couldn't be any harder than a cross country jaunt on a Harley with your dopey kid brother.]
Get me close enough and I got nail bombs and Molotovs I can use.
[Not to mention El Diablo. He was more than a little stoked that the gun had been so effective!]

[With that, Zero jumped off the bike and unsheathed his paralyzer whip. Aiming at the lowest part of the mountain above them, he dash jumped as high as he could and fired it like a hook shot, snagging onto the underside of its leg. He pulled himself up and grabbed onto the monster, traversing it with surprising speed. Jeez, look at him go.
When you had a robot's grip and infinite stamina, not to mention the ability to walljump sheer 90 degree surfaces, climbing a living mountain wasn't hard.
Anyway, he's leaving you two the hoverbike to get around and scout for weak points easier. Be careful with it.]
no subject
"--Alright, hold on!" He yells and hits the repulsor, and the bike launches from Zero to Oh My God in about six seconds.
"Keep your center of gravity low!" He yells back over his shoulder as the bike lurches onto one of the ridges on the beast's collapsed ankle. "I don't think the bike is built for this much weight, and this thing might get up at any time!"
By "this thing" he means "the very ground they happen to be speeding along." Just to make that clear.

It did not enjoy that tumble one bit. It did not enjoy that there was a fast thing climbing all over it. It did not enjoy the whatever it was cruising on its leg. All of these things were things it did not like.
Nothing a good shake down couldn't solve, it was sure. So back up to its feet it went, furiously shaking its entire body in an attempt to dislodge its pick ups. It's lowered head definitely sent its horns through part of the building it had approached in its walk. Sorry, building.

"Jesus this thing moves..." He muttered more to himself than anyone else. He wouldn't mind one of these for his own use. He could have had Ellie to Colorado and back in no time flat...
...it was weird, how often she popped unbidden into his memory. All he could think was how much swearing would she do if she could see him now?
"If the bike loses grip and we fall off and die." he said as close to Gordon's ear as he could "It was nice knowing you."

Zero had reached a rocky ridge on the giant's... shoulder blade, maybe? It resembled something like the structure of a building, maybe a balcony, only jutting out from the tough, hairy hide of a mountain. At any rate, a good place to hang onto while the monster was giving itself a good shake.
But he couldn't stay there forever. And despite the trouble the other two men were having, Zero couldn't let himself be distracted either. The school was already suffering more and more damage, the longer they took. It was time to be a little reckless.
Before the colossus could raise its head completely, Zero dash jumped from his spot onto the horn, then immediately leapt again to launch his whip at the upper ridge of the mountain's face. He dangled there for a second as the monster shook his head, but shot himself up to reach the top of its head at the earliest opportunity.

The little ant in its face was highly persistent, and there were more trickling up its leg. Having few options of its own, the beast began to stamp its feet in sluggish earnest. It threw its head back to try and rid itself of the one clinging to its moss.
It was not the easiest to see without a direct beam of light, but the sun that was shining down could catch the shimmering hints of something glowing faintly beneath the dark tendrils up there on its head.
no subject
"Get us close to the back of its head!" he said to Gordon. "I think I saw somethin' up there!"
He pulled a duct taped tin can out of a side pocket in his backpack. It was a nail bomb.
no subject
"Hm?!" He risks slowing to a crawl for a moment to follow Joel's indication, and something else catches his eye. A rocky shoulder process that, as the beast raises his hoof, angles down into a ramp...
"Hold on. I've got an idea!"
Oh hell. He revvs the repulsor and aligns with the ramp in the scant second that the beast is resting. Then he punches it just as the shoulder flexes again, making their planned launch procedure suddenly and terrifyingly obvious.

Charging his sword, he positioned himself above the mark (because changing direction mid-air was totally a robot feature) and thrust it downwards in a Sky Chaser stab. It was a strike strong enough to split stone on impact, surely it had to do some damage to this mountain.]
no subject
[Gordon. How did you get so good at being a daredevil hoverbike rider on the shoulders of a giant mountain beast? Was that a university level course offered at the school?
As they approached the back of the creature's head, he saw Zero aiming for the same glowy spot he'd seen. He brought El Diablo up, one handed, and loosed off a shot. The area was big enough that he and Zero could both attack it without any worry of him accidentally shooting Zero.]
