I Don't Wanna Work

Jolt wanted to get serious about studying. He was close to graduating, and he wanted to be extra sure he had things well in hand to spend a summer with friends and family. Of course, he had a hard time focusing on things that bored him. And so often, this course work bored the life out of him. He hoped Riwane's presence would help give him the focus he needed, but at the same time he just wanted to see more of her again. Was it greedy of him? He hoped not. She had a big heart, and wanted to spend a lot of her time with Jon. He thought for sure she'd shoot him down when he confessed to her because of Jon, but knowing her as he did, he shouldn't have been surprised. But he was okay with things being the way they were.

He tried to make sure things were perfect for when she arrived. A lot of the mess on his side of the room was cleaned up, and Pit was elsewhere. He just had to focus...

"Least you won't be alone in taking those harder classes," Jolt reminded her. "Mutual support for the win."

He sighed, slumping over with his chin in his palm. "First up... physics," he grumbled in disgust. "Formulas and equations coming out my ears."

She smiled and nodded, "Always good ta have friendly faces encouraging you!"

When he disclosed where they'd start, Riwane actually smiled. "Aww, physics was one a the few that I actually loved! So many fun thing y'git ta do in that class! An' the stuff was easy to learn once you put erryday things to them." she winked.

"We'll be fine, let's start."

"Don't get me wrong, doing cool experiments is fun," Jolt began. "But at some point you gotta learn the how and why instead of just the what. I'm not the best at rattling off facts like this."

He flipped open to the first chapter, leaning over on his bed and biting his lip. "Okay... The lift of a fulcrum is based on the length of the sides... Mmmmrrrr..."

"That's how you git to tha hows an' why's silly." Riwane mused as she sat down reverse-side on a chair and pulled up next to him.

"Startin' off uninterested ain' gunna help none hon. Think of it... hmmm, think of it as one tiny step twards hella fun in tha sun durin' summer!" Can't get more motivated than that!

"I guess, but you have to admit it's a lot more fun to watch stuff fall than it is to try and calculate its velocity."

"Ah... Summer fun," Jolt said wistfully, looking up at the ceiling and sighing. "Sun, sand, and surf. Parties, barbecues, beach trips... Now THAT'S something to look forward to."

"Eyup! So wif that prize in plain sights, let's git ya focused an' rollin'!"

She opened up a drink and handed it to him while grabbing one for herself as she started pulling out extra materials. After shuffling through them, she plaed a few of them by him and lay the rest to the side.

"Found those on the webs, they should help a little." she noted as she pointed as some charts that had easy(er) formulas at hand.

"The internet's always coming to the rescue," Jolt said, shifting positions to lie across the bed, book open in front of him, sipping at the drink Riwane offered him.

He tried his hardest to focus, balancing a pen on his nose as he read just to give him something physical to do. "So add this and this... Divide by this... Carry that..." He held the paper up to her. "This right?"

Riwane had been listening to some music while going through some of his papers to see what Jolt should focus on. When addressed, she looked over and took a moment to check what was up before smiling.

"Yer on the right track, jus' a bit more an' youll have that in a jiffy!"

"Hope my brain doesn't pop trying to keep all this in," Jolt added, chuckling a bit before going back to his work, blowing the pen off his nose and catching it.

"What are you looking forward to this summer?" he asked, trying to keep from going stir crazy staring at facts and figures.

Riwane laughed and shook her head. "You'll be fine, yer head's bigg enuff!" she teased, sticking her tongue out and chuckling.

At the question, she hummed before smiling. "Food and the beach for sure! Love em both! Barbeques and the surf~"

"Mmmm... Now you're speaking my language," he said. With another smirk, he added with a laugh, "I'm so looking forward to it. Can't wait to see you in a bikini!"

"Are you now?" she chuckled and shook her head. "Ain't like you've ne'er seen me in one before silly." she smiled.

"But if that mental image's a good one fer you, then use that as a bit of extra incentive fur passin'!"

He grinned. "Well yeah, sure I've seen you in one before. Doesn't mean I don't wanna see it again!" he pointed out. "You're gorgeous and I love ya, so of course I'm gonna wanna see that."

He scribbled a few more notes on the page, enjoying the mental image of them at the beach.

Riwane grinned a little, a bright disposition on her face as she nodded.

"Yer real sweet hon, thanks. I'm sure yer gunna pass an' yer gunna have plenty 'a time ta do all those things ya wana do!" Cause she was sure to do her best to help him out.

"Hey, I'm just saying the truth." He hopped up a bit from his position to lean over and place a kiss right on her cheek before going back to lying down, grinning confidently. "There's no way I'd miss it for the world!"

"Well, make sure ya keep up that spirit an' pass!" she chuckled.

"Would be a darn shame if ya missed out on all the fun!"

"Just think of this as a battle," he told himself. "And my opponent is Math type. Not sure what's strong against a Math type, but I'll figure it out."

"I'd say spirt, focus and determination attack types might work." she grinned. "You got any a those sparkbutt?"

"You've known me how long now?" Jolt asked with a smirk. "I've got all of that in spades, plus the energy to keep going!"

Riwane sits back, crossing her legs and smiling as she browses through her tablet-pc. "You could have fooled me with how worried you were earlier. This side of you is what I'm used to." she mused.

"I guess sometimes you need someone to remind you how awesome you are," he reasoned. "Luckily for me I've got you around if I'm ever in doubt."

He went back to his book, poring over the material again. It was boring, yes, but now he had a mission. He definitely wanted to try and impress Riwane.

"Eyup, an' it ain't like I'll let ya furget it!" she chuckled and kicked her feet up on his bed as she relaxed back and continued to browse.

Don't worry Jolt, every now and then she checks up on you to see if you didn't fall asleep on your textbook!

After just over an hour of work, Thunderbutt finally had to relent. He flopped backwards on his bed, groaning. "Ugh... Hey, toss me some of those snacks?" he asked. "Anything'll do. I'm starving over here."

Riwane smiled and tossed over some snacks, "Here's a few, take yer pick! Or, well if yer real hungry ya can have em all. I can order in sum pizza if ya'd like?"

Too late for that. Jolt had already dug into a bag of chips, and had to swallow before he could answer. "We can order dinner later," he said. "Just need a quick recharge. All this studying is hungry business! My brain needs nourishment."
