I Don't Wanna Work

Who: Jolt and Riwane
What: Time to ~~not~~ study!

Jolt wanted to get serious about studying. He was close to graduating, and he wanted to be extra sure he had things well in hand to spend a summer with friends and family. Of course, he had a hard time focusing on things that bored him. And so often, this course work bored the life out of him. He hoped Riwane's presence would help give him the focus he needed, but at the same time he just wanted to see more of her again. Was it greedy of him? He hoped not. She had a big heart, and wanted to spend a lot of her time with Jon. He thought for sure she'd shoot him down when he confessed to her because of Jon, but knowing her as he did, he shouldn't have been surprised. But he was okay with things being the way they were.

He tried to make sure things were perfect for when she arrived. A lot of the mess on his side of the room was cleaned up, and Pit was elsewhere. He just had to focus...

"Eyup, an' it ain't like I'll let ya furget it!" she chuckled and kicked her feet up on his bed as she relaxed back and continued to browse.

Don't worry Jolt, every now and then she checks up on you to see if you didn't fall asleep on your textbook!

After just over an hour of work, Thunderbutt finally had to relent. He flopped backwards on his bed, groaning. "Ugh... Hey, toss me some of those snacks?" he asked. "Anything'll do. I'm starving over here."

Riwane smiled and tossed over some snacks, "Here's a few, take yer pick! Or, well if yer real hungry ya can have em all. I can order in sum pizza if ya'd like?"

Too late for that. Jolt had already dug into a bag of chips, and had to swallow before he could answer. "We can order dinner later," he said. "Just need a quick recharge. All this studying is hungry business! My brain needs nourishment."

"Fair' nuff." She replied with a smile, tossing a drink at him.

"Keep up the good work hon, yer doin' real good so far."

Honestly she couldn't tell, but that didn't mean she couldn't be reassuring.

Jolt took a swig of water before popping a few more chips in his mouth. "Glad you think so," he said. "Feels like my head's on fire! I am so gonna sleep well tonight, believe me."

He looked over at her from his position laying down. "Hey, you comfy? Okay? Don't wanna bore you, having you come all this way just to help me out here."

"Not a bore dumbbutt," she chuckled. "I'm fine, I've got sum things ta do m'self so it helped me focus on those when not helpin' ya out." she stated as she tapped her tablet-pc and smiled at him.

"So in all, yer helpin' me keep focused too."

"Yeah?" he asked, looking up. "What are you workin' on?" he asked curiously.

"Jus' checkin' out the things I'll be havin' ta study on my first quarter an' all." she replied with a smile.

"Wanted ta at least git a heads up on the subjects, even if I don't study em during the summer." Cause c'mon! She was gonna have loads of fun!

"Yeah, we've got so many more important things to do this summer," Jolt laughed. "But I guess it's a good idea to figure this stuff out ahead of time! Just so long as you're not taking up fun time to do it!"

"Naw, I knew we'd be working on studies so I figured it'd be the rite time ta git this done an' outta the way too." She replied with a mild grin.

After all, he needed to focus, so there'd be less time for fun than usual, but it was better that way.

"Guess that makes sense," Jolt answered with a sage nod. "It's funny to think, you know? The two of us so hard-up on school work? Before, we'd have started slacking off with games by now instead of working so hard. Can't decide if I feel proud of maturing or disappointed!"

Riwane laughed, "I'd say you should be proud. It ain't like we can't make time for fun at a latah time or even if we git things done early." She paused, "But yanno, fur real done. Not 'lemme put this aside fur later' done." she chuckled.

"Sounds like a plan to me," he said. "A reward for a job well done."

He shook his head. "All right, that being said, break's over. Gotta get the business done before the pleasure!"

Riwane smiled and nodded. "Eyup! And plenty a time fur hat later too!"

Because really, sometimes two months seemed like a lot to some people. Others... Well not enough!

"Hey, incidentally," Jolt said, opening up his book again to get back to business, "you know prom's coming up. And I dunno if your plan is to go with Jon or anything, but if you didn't have a date yet, I figured maybe you'd like to go out with me?" he suggested. It was much easier for him to ask this time than last time when he tried to confess to her... That initial tension being past helped a great deal.

"I know, wus thinkin' of skippin' this one." she teased to gauge his reaction. After a bit though, she smiled.

"Dunno really. I think Jon's chaperonin' this one, since he's a teacher an' all. Was hopin' fur some dancin' but he'll be occupied erry now an' then." She absentmindedly brushed one of her bangs from her face and leaned back a little on her chair.

"So sure, it'd be fun to go with ya."

Jolt wasn't fooled for a minute. He knew her a lot better than that.

"Great!" he replied with a big smile. "I mean, I'm sorry you won't get to spend as much time with Jon, but I'll definitely make sure you have a good time!" he promised.

"Don't make promises if ya can't keep em!" she teased but knew better. Jolt knew how to have fun, one of the many reasons she liked him.

"I'll be lookin' forward ta it."

"Are you questioning my ability to show you a good time?" Jolt asked, sitting up, shifting closer to her on the bed and clapping his book closed. The grin on his face said he knew she was teasing him, but he'd be damned if he wasn't gonna throw some of that teasing back her way.

"Ya ain't gunna be showin' nobody a good time if ya don't make it past graduation there mister. So git yer sparky butt back on those books." she scolded him playfully, wagging a finger at him.

He grinned impishly at her for a moment, silent. "We'll continue this later," he promised, sitting back and opening the book again.

"Shhyeah, if you git things done an' done rite. No halfassin' it sparkbutt!" she replied with a small smirk.

She was here on a mission, and that was to see Jolt through graduation!

"Hey, I put my full ass into everything I do," he told her. "As you'll find out when we're finished!" he added teasingly as he started to read.

Riwane laughed and shook her head before relaxing back in her chair. She was feeling kind of tired herself.
