Who: Char, Voile
What: A post one-night-stand encounter.
Where: Outside the library
When: March 3/14, afternoon
Warnings: uhhh probably some talk about hanky-panky??
Mistletoe season had long since come and gone, leaving a few festive indiscretions in its wake. Blame it on the eggnog, maybe; Char didn't really know Voile much beyond "I guess Bulba's friend" and "maybe went out with Red's Pokemon," but he wouldn't have considered the fragile, ethereal-looking kind of woman his type. Women who were dancing a step ahead of him, however, were, and Voile proved to be remarkably good at being hard for him to read. The month had felt a lot more empty with Nyx no longer part of the picture, and... well, who could blame a Lonely nature for wanting to feel a little less lonely? A kiss that didn't have anything to do with the mistletoe had slid its way into something more than that.
And (and least Char hoped) they both understood exactly what that had been. Some steam had been let off, and nothing more was said. He hadn't spoken to her since. This school being what it was, however, it was bound to be a matter of time until their paths crossed again. And so it was that fate went and intervened when Char was on his way out of the library, a folder full of photocopied articles from various Pokeprofs under his arm. No sooner had he stepped out the door than he spotted Voile, his step faltering for just a second.
"Oh," he offered, smoothly, "hey."

She wished she could have said what had possessed her to act in such a manner. Had she been more confident than usual? In many ways, she wished she could have looked on as a third person, just to figure out how she'd managed to get herself into such a situation. Eying Char, she cycled through options of what she could say. Acting nonchalant would make it seem as if nothing had changed. What if he didn't want that?
Except she could just as easily take a peek into him and find out. He was the sort of person who didn't seem to create any particular heartfelt connections. Maybe with his team. Not with anyone who wasn't on it. And truth be told, she'd worried more about the idea that she was still in a position where she must have been not particularly enjoyable as company. Lack of experience, anyway.
"Hello, Char," she replied as she stopped by him. Lifting a hand, she readjusted how her braid fell over her shoulder and brushed herself off. It was a means of fidgeting without actually showing that she was. An eye peered out from underneath her green hair. "How are you?" And when she was truthful, of course she cared how he was doing and that had nothing to do with how they'd been with one another.
Not... that they had been anything special.
wheezes SORRY I AM SO LATE
Directness was not his usual forte, especially not in matters of the heart... but matters of the body were something a little different, weren't they? He didn't dislike Voile, and her apparent closeness with Bulba was enough to make him not want to be cruel to her, but at the same time, his was a heart that didn't have room for many -- his concern for her did not exactly reach the insecure and cautious peaks that would normally send him into anxious spirals of indirectly tiptoeing around subjects. Whatever her feelings on the matter, then, better to just lay it out flat and get it over with.
"You, uh... look, you busy? Was thinkin' maybe we should talk."
I'M LATER. THE LATE MEDAL GOES TO ME.
Beneath all of that, however, hadn't she felt some kind of weight lift? So didn't that imply that perhaps it wasn't the worst thing to happen? Technicalities, she supposed.
Looking left and then right, as if it was one more investigative glance just to make sure no one else was listening in, she returned her gaze onto Char. Well, one half of a gaze, considering the other half was hidden beneath her hair, making her likely more difficult to read than she already was.
"I'm not busy," she replied with a subdued smile, polite, and yet earnest at the same time. "Did you want to talk here or somewhere else?"
I REQUEST A LATENESS REMATCH
Would blatant even be a good thing? He honestly couldn't tell; as scowly and indirect as he could be, he hardly even knew what to make of a sweet, earnest smile like that. This was maybe going to be a bit more flustering than he thought.
AGREED. I'VE GOT US ON A GOOD START, RIGHT.
It likely wasn't the time to even think of such things.
Voile nodded and held her books to her a little more protectively. "That's fine. If you lead, I will follow. I'm not in a particular hurry, and nothing else is really engaging me."
ME TOO ME TOO ME TOO
Once they were there, he nudged the door shut, leaning against it in a somewhat unsure display of nonchalance. "So, uh, first of all... it was okay for you, right?" And not just in the soothing-his-ego sense. He still hadn't entirely ruled out the whole bursting into tears possibility, here.

She was puzzled and she knew very well that was transparent in her very expression. As she stared at him, considering she had no idea what she'd even been expecting, he successfully halted most of her conscious senses. Of course she was still operating, but it was purely by instinct rather than any form of method of deliberate nature to it. What kind of question was that, anyway? Did people normally ask such things? Marie certainly hadn't. He'd asked her if he was terrible to her, since he didn't remember, but that didn't seem to be the same thing as Char's inquiry.
"...Ah..." she finally began, unsure of how to really address it. "I have nothing to compare it to, you see." Looking aside, her head tilted with some consideration. "I was actually more concerned the other way around." Inexperience being taken into account and all. Because she was still pretty sure she wasn't cut out for that sort of thing, regardless of how something it seemed like she'd stop breathing with the right kind of companion.

"You sayin' I was your first?" He ventured, looking just about as puzzled as Voile herself. He didn't really entertain any flowery notions that virginity was some sacred thing to be given only to your true love, no matter how slow things had gone with Nyx, but he'd also never have pegged himself for the kind of guy that girls like Voile would look at and go "hmm yeah this looks like a romantic way to cash in my V-card."

It seemed like a straight forward way to answer him. And it was, really. There was no beating around the bush and it wasn't like anyone else was around to hear her. Truth be told, Voile never actually even discussed intimacy. Not because she was against it, but mostly because no one had ever asked. It was amazing what kind of information she could be free with if people simply pursued the knowledge. It wasn't a guarantee of information, but it was close enough, she supposed.
"Was... I not supposed to tell you that?" she asked somewhat curiously. "I've never really had a conversation like this before. I'm not sure what is and is not acceptable for me to say."

"I'm just... surprised, that's all." I mean, yeah, some degree of inexperience was easy to pick up on, but he hadn't accounted for any deflowering, per se. "If it ain't a big deal to you, it ain't a big deal to me, just... so long as we're on the same page about what it was, is all." It not being a big deal would be the absolute ideal, here. She didn't seem to be terribly bothered about it, which was promising, and they were all adults here capable of making their own decisions, so... it didn't have to be a thing, right?

She set her back to the door to his office and gave a slow nod. What was it, anyway? A mistake? No, probably not that. A disappointment? Quite possibly. Well, a disappointment for him. Except it was too embarrassing to ask what it was. But in the back of her mind, she imagined, she probably shouldn't have been very open about the whole situation. It seemed highly unlikely that Warren had any likeness for coming in second for anything, and considering what she had with him.
If she had anything. Did she have anything? She thought she did. They acted as if they did and there really was no hiding it either. That was pretty on the forefront, even if they didn't exactly advertise it.
"No, I understand," she managed to reply. "I mean, I think I do. Again, not really sure how to talk about things like this. Another first for me."

He still wasn't entirely sure where they both stood on it. It felt like it ought to have Changed Things, losing your virginity supposedly being a big-time Thing Changer or whatever, but... well, this was okay, wasn't it? He couldn't even begin to say if Voile was genuinely that indifferent about it or if there was unease and regret cooking underneath the surface; try as he might, hers really wasn't the kind of face he could read.
"I mean, whatever you might think about fuckin' as a whole, there ain't any harm in lettin' a little steam off, right?"
That was the way he saw it, anyway. "As long as we both had our fun, that's all there has to be to it. I ain't gonna complicate anything for you or get in your way," With... Marie? Nah, he was gone. Was she even dating anyone? Didn't know, not his problem. "but I wasn't lookin' for anything more than stress relief. Neither of us were, right?"
no subject
"Complicate anything for me," she echoed with some thought. "It'll sound kind of strange for me to say it, but sometimes a complication would be nice. Mind you, that couldn't be possible, even if you were trying to." If only because there was no clear statement anywhere or from anyone saying that she was tied to anyone. Because in actuality, she wasn't. No promises had been made. No agreements. No exclusivity. Nothing like that.
"I suppose what I'm saying is that you're welcome to try if you're interested in a challenge." Voile lifted her shoulders in a surprisingly casual and nonchalant shrug. "I hear you, though. It was what it was, right? I should probably apologise for my behaviour, anyway. I can't imagine there was much 'okay' with me doing any of that. A waste of a night, right?"

"Never said it was bad," Char pointed out, looking away. It was very true that Char definitely had a type, and he usually wouldn't have considered Voile to be it: she was polite, modest, self-deprecating, and delicate to the eye. He might have called her pretty and found some allure in the untouchable mystery lurking behind her demure expressions, but purity was never something he considered compatible with himself.
But... well, Voile was turning out to be awfully interesting, wasn't she? "Why shouldn't it be okay? If it's just 'cause you ain't used to doin' that..." He glanced over to her, expression curious and tail still swaying as he studied her, not even fully certain what he was trying to find. Whether he found his whatever-it-was or not, he arched his eyebrows, mind made up. "Well, it ain't like inexperience ain't easy to fix, right?"

Standing there with Char, the way he eyed her, and the way his words echoed between her ears, it wasn't difficult to see how beneficial the implications could have been. He had a point. Inexperience was simple to repair with the right person. Provided that there was a right person suited for the task. She didn't know what kind of person that was, however, and the academy hosted a rainbow of people.
"I... suppose it isn't, no. It's not something that's been offered to me." She smiled as she continued, "I must be intimidating. Or maybe no one thought I was interested." As she moved from his office door, she took her time in looking around. Setting her books down stop his desk, she set her curious gaze back onto him.
"You could... help me, then? Teach me, that is," Voile corrected herself, trying to make it sound more respectful than it actually was.
