Shantae was being put as on edge by the recent goings on as anyone at Smash. She was restless, and when she learned she couldn't even leave town to go back home, she was frustrated as well. Having run out of Primids to beat upon, she needed to channel her aggression at something else. And what better thing to get the blood pumping than some dance?

"Hey, everyone," she said, welcoming the arrivals to the studio. "I thought it'd be fun this time to kick it up a notch! A few dances on the more energetic side of things. So if anyone's up to it, I can start showing you the basics of belly dancing! We've got music and equipment for other high energy dancing, like tango, swing, or even break dancing if you think you want to try. So let's all have fun!"

"Belly dancing, huh?" Sonny said, slapping his stomach. "Does that mean I have an unfair advantage?"

"Only if you've got grace and agility to go along with that," Shantae teased him.

"Nope! But I have mobility and enthusiasm to make up for it!"

Was that a blurr that suddenly showed up? Might as well have been cause the person slid in to a halt in her rollerblades like a speed demon and the smile she was sporting on her face was clear as to her intentions today.

"Ah wus wonderin' when we'd have a class! Ah'm ready an' waitin'!"

She, of course took off her skates and set her things aside before she made her way towards the class.

"Well, it's not really a class," Shantae corrected her. "I mean, I'm not grading you, and we're just dancing for fun, so..."

"Whut? Fur real?!" She sounded more excited than confused. "Whoo! Now that's whut Ah'm talkin' 'bout!" Not that she didn't feel she could ace the heck out of a dance class! But if it was straight up for fun? That's a tune she could dance to forever!

[for_truth]

"Belly dancing...?" Hilda repeated with a weird look on her face. "Is that, like, when you lift up your shirt to show everyone your stomach and it goes," She held both her hands out to try and imitate a person's body from the side, and moved one in a waving motion. "'Cuz I always wondered how people did that."

"Not... exactly," Shantae replied. What was she even...

"I'll give a demonstration!"

Second day on campus and Hayato had caught wind of the Dance Club and their scheduled session. How could he resist a chance to pop in and see what that was about? After all, having a strong personal rhythm was one of life's most important things, so he needed to check out just how many students were in tune with theirs.

And so he knocked on the door frame. "Do you mind an audience?" Yeeeeah. Don't mind the stranger totally creeping on all these high schoolers.

"It's all right, come on in," Shantae invited. "I'm Shantae, I'm organizing the club. And you are...?"

"Hayato Saionji. I'm the new phys ed instructor." Maybe if he introduced himself to enough people someone would finally respond with I've heard of you, you're that cool, dreamy cheer captain from Asahi. Keep dreaming, guy.

He took Shantae's invitation to step in, glancing to the club members.

Demonstration!

"Since enough people are interested in it, let me give a quick demonstration of how belly dancing works. So just watch me for now," Shantae instructed, going to turn on some music for her to dance to.

She went out to the dance floor, and as the rhythm moved her, she started to dance.

Sonny liked watching her dance. She was really good at it! But...

"...That looks more like 'flexible spine dancing' than belly dancing." he mused, wondering if his stomach and vertebrae could work together in that kind of harmony.

Wow. WOW! Hilda clapped for her when she finished, "That's way cooler than I thought! How long'd it take for you to get so good at it?"

"Thanks!" Shantae replied as she came to a stop.

"Belly dancing is a lot more than just your belly. Yeah, there's a lot of hip and torso action, but you also need flexibility and rhythm to get every part of your body in on the dance," she explained. "I've been practicing since I was a kid!"

Riwane watched for the first few minutes before quickly joining in!

Shantae was eager to see people getting involved as well. That's what she really wanted from this club, after all. She was encouraging, commenting on Riwane's movements as she tried.

"Since you were a kid, huh? I guess I have some catching up to do, then!"

And. Here he went, ladies and gents. Uh.

Hmm.

Look, it's fair to say he has an OK sense of rhythm. Just not the flexibility required to turn this dance into the kind of work of art of which Shantae was capable.

He's got spirit, though!

Yeah, that didn't go so well...

"It takes years to get the kind of flexibility to pull off more advanced moves," Shantae tried to reassure him. "So you just need to keep at it if you really want to succeed!"

Dancing was one of the few things Mark was decently good at, especially break dancing. So when he saw that the school had a dance club, he made sure to show up to the club meeting.

When he showed up, he poked his head in from the doorway, giving a wave.

"Yo! I heard about dance club and was curious if you guys are open for new people."

"Sure thing! Everyone's welcome!" Shantae told him. "Come on in! What's your name?"

"Name's Masao Inaba." Mark introduced himself as he walked in. "I mostly go with Mark. Nice to meet ya!"

You are one shy dancer richer.

[stopstaring]

Olivia had heard about the dancing club, which immediately sounded like a boon and likely filled with the same plethora of pupils that would be adorning her classroom once the 'school year' began. But watching was completely different from rudely interrupting and she meant to avoid the latter.

While not outright joining the others who'd come for the meeting, Olivia kept her attentive gaze on Shantae, who appeared to be the leader figure. Listening and observing seemed best for the time being. She'd at least learn what she would need to work with.

And maybe she'd gain some courage to be an instructor.

When there was a moment, Shantae went to greet her. "Olivia, right? Nice to see you here!" Shantae said, remembering her from their network chat some time ago.

If she hadn't seen her coming, Olivia probably would have gone into hiding. Instead, she stiffened, tried not to remain too stiff, and eventually choked out some words without completely tripping over her tongue.

"H-hello! I'm sorry for interrupting. I heard about this... gathering, and I'd wanted to see it with my own eyes. I hope it's all right that I watch for a bit."
