DORM LOGS: Now with EVENTS!

Who: All of Smash.
What: Dorm log! January edition.
Where: Student and Teacher dorms, and quite possibly beyond campus.
When: Approximately the latter half of January to the earliest of Februaries (15th - 5th)
Warnings: YOU KNOW YOURSELVES

We all know our characters experience downtime after classes and their busy schedules, and this is a good venue for those kinds of miscellaneous dorm-shenanigans to take place. Not only does it give your characters the easy chance to meet new people in a laid-back environment, but it's a good mechanism for strengthening CR. It's easy!

Feel free to begin in any way you please! Plan with (a) fellow player(s) if you'd like! Or, set up a thread and wait for characters to bite! Just add a thread with the room number (and date/time, if it matters) and the characters that reside there (just for reference!). You do not have to use one character's thread as a dual-purpose for both characters if you do not want to. Doesn't have to be a dorm room, either, if you have something else in mind. It could be the common room or the student science lab or wherever.

BUT WAIT!!!!!!

This time, we're shaking things up. On certain days, there will be an event going on that might help if you can't think of a good scenario to kick off a thread with. Here is the list!*

1/18: Hypno's Naptime. Much like the anime episode of the same name, there are mysterious sleep waves pulsing through town. No one is sure where they're coming from- it could be a rowdy Hypno that took over a broadcasting station one day, or maybe it's the local Disco Drowzee club that opened up just recently and their collective moves are enough to make you snooze. Well, these sleep waves might make you catch onto some unexpected z's, but more likely they can give you strange effects. Don't limit it to thinking you're a Pokemon, either. They can trick you into believing you're something else entirely, or just give you the urge to slip on a chicken costume and table dance in front of a crowd without finding it socially inappropriate. Just. WEIRD STUFF, MAN. Anything is possible.
1/19 - 1/25: Nancy's going on vacation. That's right, you sorry saps aren't gonna know what to do with yourselves now that no one's cooking for you. There was gonna be a substitute lunch bear/lady/alien space creature, but for whatever reason, they never showed up. So now, everyone must FEND FOR THEMSELVES. How will you fare if you don't even know how to flip a spatula?
1/25 - 1/27: Ice Cream Blizzard. Oh, you poor, starving Smashers. Not only are you bereft of nutrition, but it's cold and snowing and you can barely get out of the building without freezing solid! You might just perish, but wait- if you step outside and try to catch snowflakes with your tongue, you might just realize that it's... snowing ICE CREAM?!
1/29-1/31: Goomba Infestation. Everything is Goombas for 2 days in the boys dorms. Bowser is dicking around with "Itchymarbles" again, and it just spills out across the entire dorms. This prank has the unfortunate side effect of, well, affecting everyone on campus, and not just Scratchy McMarbles, so you might wanna be careful opening that fridge, since the wrong kinds of mushrooms might start pouring out. Jumping on them might work, but it's gonna take a lot of hopscotch to decimate an entire roomful!

This is a bit of an experiment, so... we'll see what comes of this.

*Note: These were determined by rng. Any other suggestions will be recycled for next time if the event aspect is successful.

"Nope. Don't seem to be. My fiancée is a Goomba and I figured I'd ask her." he replied, seemingly not bothered by this unfamiliar Human listening in on his phone call.

"They botherin' you?" he asked. The guy (Girl? Humans could be so confusing. Huh. They looked a little like Alter Ego.) looked like they were probably pretty frail. Maybe they needed help?

He didn't seemed bothered that Chihiro had accidentally overheard the conversation, thank goodness. But, he mentally note to apologize regardless later on.

Chihiro nodded meekly and murmured, "my dorm room..."

Which by now has become nothing but infested with Goomba, the perks of living right next door to a certain 'Itchymarbles', really.

Oh Ickymaboo, why you gotta be causing so much trouble for everyone? (Nah man just kidding. We're bros.)

"Alright. Well, bein' as they ain't my fiancée's friends or family, that pretty much means I can punch 'em if I gotta." he said with a chuckle. "Show me to your room, kid. I'll get 'em cleaned out for you."

"RIght, um, thanks...!" But then, he quietly added; "though, don't hurt them badly..."

With that, he guided the echidna to BE-12. And boy, was it greatly infested with Goombas.

"Eh. Don't worry. I'm not about to hurt 'em real bad." Knuckles assured Chihiro.

Once at the dorm, he opened the door and walked in.

"HEY! Listen up, guys. You gotta get outta here. I'm gonna give you to the count of ten, alright? Ten.... Nine..."

But would his words have any effect?

Nope, not a single Goomba listened to him and just went on merry way of... crowding the room.

Chihiro on the other hand, could only gulp and brace for what's to come. Oh, he wish it wouldn't have to come to hurting other creatures.

"...Two. One and a haaaaalf.... one and a quarterrrrrr.... Guys, you ain't doin' yourselves any favors here. ONE. One half..... A quarter. Still no-one's gonna leave? Really? OK, fine, Zero."

Knuckles rolled into a ball and bounced on the heads of a few to get to the window so he could open it and start chucking them out of it.

"You asked for it, fellas! Let's go!"

And so he started grabbing whichever ones were closest and shoving them out the open window to land in the snow outside.

Chihiro watched in amazement as the Goombas were thrown in such speed. Not long after, he was able to see a better look of his dorm room, in fact, he saw glimpse of the floor just now!

Then all was done and his room was now Goomba free, Chihiro stammered; "t-thank you for your help..."

"Eh. No worries." Knuckles replied with a shrug. "Didn't take much time and it ain't like they're too tough."

He paused for a second. Well, it couldn't hurt to ask.

"You any relation to Alter Ego?"

"I'm the one who programmed him," he nodded. He was half surprise of himself how he had gotten used to that question, then again, Alter Ego was around while he was away.

"My name is Chihiro Fujisaki." Chihiro said with his lips curled into an awkward smile.

"Daaaaang - No kiddin'?" Knuckles asked, a little awed. "Geeze. You must be some kinda genius or something. Alter Ego is a pretty great person. Chatted with 'em a couple times. Gotta say, I have a lot of respect for anyone who can create a whole new person. Digital or not."

Because Knuckles had come to know that there was really very little difference between an A.I. and.... well. Just an I.

"Thank you, although I don't really consider myself as a genius or anything," his face started flush when he heard the compliment.

"He's a good kid- Alter Ego, I mean." Chihiro stammered as he started to play with his fingers. "I'm glad that he's been learning well and getting to know a lot of people..."

"I was pretty bummed when I heard what happened to his laptop. That was the first time we spoke - I was tryin' to find out who had trashed my buddy R.O.B. and a couple of the other mechanical or otherwise digital students and he told me what happened to him. I.... regret not being able to deliver him the justice he deserved."

But X had skipped town and Knuckles had no idea how to track him down.

"And hey, guy, you might not think you're a genius. But that's just bein' humble. I got a pet Spiderbird and it took me MONTHS just to house train him. If you can make a whole person, with their own personality and life? You're doin' pretty well, in my book."

Chihiro 'hmm'd', a disagreement was at the tip of his tongue, but simply decided to nod in silence. He briefly thought about asking Knuckles on who the perpetrator was- he had knew about the incident, at least from what Alter Ego had informed him just as he returned. He went against it however, he hadn't heard any more of this person, so he could only hope they're no longer in the school grounds. Although, he might consider the idea of doing some snooping, since it involved more parties than he had initially thought...

"... I'm relieved at least," he finally said as a small smile started to form. "I'm happy that he's growing and that he's doing all right now."

It might have come off as strange, really. AE was really an 'it' in the end, but he couldn't bear to refer him as such. He was... more like his own child in a way, he figured.

"I know it's a little harder for students who were originally mechanical or digital. I hope for good things in his future." Knuckles replied with a wide smile. He'd had his own problems with robots in the past of course (Looking at all the crap you made, Eggman!) but he'd come around. If he could? Anyone could.

"Thank you," the smile on his face looked more relaxed, relieved in knowing thaylt there were still many more people understanding and kind to Alter Ego.

"Um," Chihiro tucked a lock behind his ear awkwardly. "I don't think I have gotten your name," how could have that slipped from his mind, Chihiro could only mentally scold himself for being so impolite.

"Oh! Sorry, guy!" Knuckles replied, also feeling a little rude. "Knuckles the Echidna!"

He extended a hand for Chihiro to shake.

"It's nice to meet you," a hand hesitantly was hesitantly extended. Oh, he wanted to shake Knuckles' hand, but he wanted to be mindful of those rather peculiar set of spikes on his… knuckles…

Knuckles, not knowing about Chihiro's reservations, grabbed his hand and gave it a firm shake. "Good to meet you too! Glad I could help you with your Goomba problem."

He flashed him an awkward smile yet again, at least, he manage to avoid the spikes. Still regardless, physical contact with someone new tends to be rather strange for him.

"N-no, thank you for helping me out," said Chihiro. "I wouldn't have been able to get in at all without your help."

"Hey, it's not a problem. What are we here for if we can't help each other out sometimes, right?" he replied with a shrug and a smile. "Enjoy bein' able to get into your room, guy. I gotta go do some shopping. But you knew that."

Being as how Chihiro had heard his phonecall, and all!

He nodded and was about to bid Knuckles farewell until he recalled that, indeed, he had overheard his conversation on the phone earlier.

"Oh! Um, sorry about that..." Chihiro apologized as scratched the back of his neck awkwardly.

"Eh. I'm not too worried." he replied with a shrug. "It wasn't anything real personal. Unless shopping lists are considered sensitive information nowadays."

He gave the Human a wave. "Catch you later, guy!"
