DORM LOGS: Now with EVENTS!

Who: All of Smash.
What: Dorm log! January edition.
Where: Student and Teacher dorms, and quite possibly beyond campus.
When: Approximately the latter half of January to the earliest of Februaries (15th - 5th)
Warnings: YOU KNOW YOURSELVES

We all know our characters experience downtime after classes and their busy schedules, and this is a good venue for those kinds of miscellaneous dorm-shenanigans to take place. Not only does it give your characters the easy chance to meet new people in a laid-back environment, but it's a good mechanism for strengthening CR. It's easy!

Feel free to begin in any way you please! Plan with (a) fellow player(s) if you'd like! Or, set up a thread and wait for characters to bite! Just add a thread with the room number (and date/time, if it matters) and the characters that reside there (just for reference!). You do not have to use one character's thread as a dual-purpose for both characters if you do not want to. Doesn't have to be a dorm room, either, if you have something else in mind. It could be the common room or the student science lab or wherever.

BUT WAIT!!!!!!

This time, we're shaking things up. On certain days, there will be an event going on that might help if you can't think of a good scenario to kick off a thread with. Here is the list!*

1/18: Hypno's Naptime. Much like the anime episode of the same name, there are mysterious sleep waves pulsing through town. No one is sure where they're coming from- it could be a rowdy Hypno that took over a broadcasting station one day, or maybe it's the local Disco Drowzee club that opened up just recently and their collective moves are enough to make you snooze. Well, these sleep waves might make you catch onto some unexpected z's, but more likely they can give you strange effects. Don't limit it to thinking you're a Pokemon, either. They can trick you into believing you're something else entirely, or just give you the urge to slip on a chicken costume and table dance in front of a crowd without finding it socially inappropriate. Just. WEIRD STUFF, MAN. Anything is possible.
1/19 - 1/25: Nancy's going on vacation. That's right, you sorry saps aren't gonna know what to do with yourselves now that no one's cooking for you. There was gonna be a substitute lunch bear/lady/alien space creature, but for whatever reason, they never showed up. So now, everyone must FEND FOR THEMSELVES. How will you fare if you don't even know how to flip a spatula?
1/25 - 1/27: Ice Cream Blizzard. Oh, you poor, starving Smashers. Not only are you bereft of nutrition, but it's cold and snowing and you can barely get out of the building without freezing solid! You might just perish, but wait- if you step outside and try to catch snowflakes with your tongue, you might just realize that it's... snowing ICE CREAM?!
1/29-1/31: Goomba Infestation. Everything is Goombas for 2 days in the boys dorms. Bowser is dicking around with "Itchymarbles" again, and it just spills out across the entire dorms. This prank has the unfortunate side effect of, well, affecting everyone on campus, and not just Scratchy McMarbles, so you might wanna be careful opening that fridge, since the wrong kinds of mushrooms might start pouring out. Jumping on them might work, but it's gonna take a lot of hopscotch to decimate an entire roomful!

This is a bit of an experiment, so... we'll see what comes of this.

*Note: These were determined by rng. Any other suggestions will be recycled for next time if the event aspect is successful.

[1/18] Hagakure thinks that he's a member of some sort of teenage crime-solving mystery group or something who likes to eat sandwiches and always needs to shave. He is going to be wandering around campus, probably with several other Hope's Peak children in tow, looking for both Clues and also Sandwiches.

[1/19-1/25] This is what the convenience store is for. With any luck, there's a Japanese convenience store somewhere. Hagakure is eating convenience store food for an entire week -- As God Intended.

There was no way in hell Kiyotaka would ever fall asleep on duty, much less face-down right in the middle of the hallways like this. It had to be murder. What a stunning lack of blood, though...

"This has to be murder!" Aoi wailed, apparently under the same delusion that she is also a member of some sort of teenage crime-solving mystery group. Right now, however, it was sort of difficult to solve crimes when she was too busy sobbing over the body of her dead boyfriend, who had only been her boyfriend for like a week.

We find our heroes as they happen upon the unfortunate scene. "How could this h--happen!?"

"Zoinks!" said Hagakure, jumping like three feet in the air and having his hair... stand... on... end... be exactly the same. "M-m-m-m-m-murder!" His teeth started chattering in a loud and terrible way. "N-no way, man!" He looked down at Itchymarble's dead body in the hallway.

It was a very good thing that Aoi's tears had the power to revive the dead. Sad crying pokemon clones had nothing on her.

Okay, so maybe it was more that hearing the word "murder" in his sleep was enough to urge him awake in a panic. His eyes snapped open and he sat up quickly, though his mind had yet to catch up with his body in wakefulness. "A murder?!"

Either that or Aoi's tears had the power to summon a wild Yamada.

"A murder?" He parroted inquisitively if cautiously, adjusting his glasses. Truly, such a word would send shivers down anyone's spine. (Starting from the top of the head and working down, of course.)

"Was it... DRAMAtical...?"

Lo and behold, Chihiro was acting as Yamada's shadow all this time. Easy to do when you're basically the size of a 12 year old.

He babbled between stammers and stutters that could only be translated as; 'I think he somehow fell asleep.'

THIS WAS AMAZING

"Ishimaru, what were you doing asleep in the hall? We thought you'd been murdered!"

Now there was a mystery to solve.

"Who tried to kill you, man?" Hagakure asked.

Dramatical wasn't even a word... But more important than that:

"I--! I don't remember falling asleep! How could I have fallen asleep when there are things I need to be doing?!" He stood up quickly, face reddening in DEEP SHAME. There was only one explanation that wasn't murder, and that was attempted murder. Obviously.

"Could someone have tried to kill me after all?"

he stared pointedly at yamada OKAY WELL MAYBE THERE WAS A BIT OF A LOOK CAST IN YAMADA'S DIRECTION but that was a dangerous train of thought to follow so he would refrain.

Fortunately... or probably more like unfortunately, Yamada's train of thought was following the same set of tracks.

"H-HEY! DON'T LOOK AT ME!" He waved his hands defensively, "I only just got here!"

Chihiro noticed the rather awkward tension but said nothing of it, fearing putting his nose where it doesn't belong would bother his friends.

"Sleeping spells had been going on around the school from the looks of it..." He quietly said instead. "I, um, don't think whatever is happening is directed to Ishimaru-kun specifically..."

"There's a clue on your forehead, man!" said Hagakure, still being some sort of mystery teenager.

"It looks more like a penis than a clue..." said Mukuro carefully as she looked over Ishimaru's body for any outward signs of injury. "But otherwise no injuries seen from the outset."

"A what-"

Oh no did someone seriously draw a dick on his forehead. THIS WAS SOME SERIOUS MIDDLE SCHOOL BULLSHIT. He self-consciously clapped a hand to his head, hoping it was fully covered...

and...

yaaaaaaawned.

"Kiyotaka Ishimaru-dono could not handle its girth..."

"We need to stop fooling around," Aoi declared, figuring that if no one was going to get this investigation rolling, she would have to. What would Kirigiri do? Start at the beginning, probably. Maybe. It was worth a shot.

"Ishimaru, what's the last thing you remember before you fell asleep?"

Aoi was truly the team mom.

"Well... I went to the washroom," he reported dutifully, hand still pressed to his head. "Then I was making my way to the cafeteria. But as you can see, I never made it!"

[cplusplus]

"It sounds like some sort of daytime sleep attack..." Chihiro thought aloud. "But... Ishimaru-kun, I don't recall you have that sort of problem before..."

It might have been awhile but he would have remembered if Kiyotaka display any sort of sleeping disorder. Early riser he may be, but he seem to have a rather balanced sleeping schedule.

21st

Sable was just minding her own business, walking back from the hobby store towards the campus, toting a bag filled with lace, ribbons, and other nice little add ons for her clothes. It wasn't hard to notice that interesting guy with the huge hair in that convenience store she was passing by, so she decided to stop in and see how he was doing. Sable didn't have to worry about Nancy's departure, considering that she could cook her own meals, but how was he holding up?

"Hello there," she greeted Hagakure. "What brings you to this side of town?"

Hagakure looked over at the... teacher... what class... was he in that class... did he... go to class... He read her fortune once. Uh. The one who wasn't a cryptid.

"Oh, uh, hey," he said. "I'm buying lunch, and dinner," he said, pointing to one (1) bento box and three (3) onigiri in his hands. He was standing in front of a case of food. "I don't know why the only good convenience store is so far away from school; it's very convenient, is it?"

"Hm, well...I suppose so," Sable agreed, eyeing Hagakure's food reluctantly. "Hmm...have you just been eating all this the entire week? It's good to have a little bit of variety mixed in at times, you know..."

"There's lots of variety. There's like... ten or twelve different kinds of onigiri, dude." Look at all of the onigiri. "Salmon, tuna-mayo, salmon egg, pickled plum, all sorts!"

Sable once again looked at Hagakure's food, then back at the aisle, then back at Hagakure's food. "True, onigiri can be pretty filling..." she trailed off. "Still! It's good to at least get some fruits and vegetables as well! All that fish and rice can be good for you, but you need to get some other healthy foods in your diet too!"

"I think there's some carrots in this bento, dude," said Hagakure, showing her some tiny piece of carrots in the bento. "That seems healthy, I bet."

Hagakure is a hopeless case, Sable. You should get out while you still can.
