Who: YOU
What: SNOW
When: DECEMBER 6th
Where: EVERYWHERE
WHAT: SNOW (BONUS TREE DECORATING)
As a quiet Friday dawned on the school's campus, one could perhaps...feel it in the air. A creeping chill, a silent, barely-detectable indication that yes. Tonight would be the night.

By Saturday morning, the entire academy would be covered in snow.
BUT WAIT

That wasn't all--a large pine tree had made an appearance on the main quad, in desperate need of decoration.

Soryk - Common Rooms / Teacher's Lounge - Open
And he'd mostly refused to step in it if he could, but that didn't stop him from practically plastering his face against the window of the commons room and glowering about the newly-found land of white cold fluff.
no subject
There was a small explosion of snow at the window where Soryk was looking from. The powdery cloud quickly dissipating to reveal a familiar figure covered in more clothes than she's ever been seen in, bouncing a snow ball in one hand while waving with the other.
no subject
Soryk stiffened at the initial surprise and even as he gave his half-assed wave in return, he shook his head. As if it would be enough to scold her for just such a thing. But he supposed if he was going to be faced with someone, he preferred her over most others.
"I have no plans of going out there," he said, though he doubted he could hear her. Or maybe she could, with those fancy ears of hers.
no subject
Clasping her hands slightly together in front of her mouth to make a makeshift cone, she yelled again.
"Oh c'mon grump! It's fun! Take a load off! Live a little! You have plenty of time to enjoy life or brood!"
no subject
"Why do you not come in here?" he replied to her, waving her in, as if he was being particularly welcoming. Somewhat uncharacteristic, but despite the snowfall, he felt a bit... happier.
Or at least seemed it. So maybe in one way or another, he was under the weather.
no subject
Happily grinning, she shifted into cat form and bounded away, seemingly towards his location. Soon enough, there was a knock on the door.
no subject
Letting her in, he lifted a hand and pulled it through the ends of his hair. "As I said, it is far more pleasant in here." At least in his opinion, where there was no falling snow.
no subject
Taking a moment to stretch, Ellistree soon found herself leaning against a table and looking over. "So, do you intend on hiding all through winter or is this just a temporary safe spot until you are ready to brave the snowy wilderness?"
no subject
Soryk never really did well with attention.
"I intend to avoid the snow as much as possible and only to go through when I am traveling between locations. I have no great fondness for the snow." Or much of anything, so it was really nothing new.
no subject
"What are you fond off my dear Sin'dorei? I'm sure there has to be some things you do enjoy." Someone was fishing for ideas for Winter's Veil gifts okay!
no subject
Of course it wasn't true. He'd enjoyed his days and times with his wife. He'd enjoyed days and times with his on-again, off-again fiance many years later. He enjoyed his days and times with Zelda even more years later. But none of those things were things he wanted to say.
"I do have a specific like for being alive, however," he admitted with a nod.
no subject
"I suppose we can all agree on being alive as something we like. Plenty of ways back home to not be if you really disliked living in the first place. Though that makes planning for gifts kind of hard since I cannot give you life~" she joked.
Though maybe more ways to survive? She didn't think she'd seen a magical blacksmith in FDC, though there have been weirder stores. Maybe a new set of daggers?
no subject
But once, they'd both held their weight in reality.
"I suppose if we want to be practical, I could use a crossbow. Annoying beasts in the woods are competitors for the plants that I am after. A new crossbow would be useful in eradicating them."
no subject
After all, most who carried that kind of equipment were.
"Do you have a proper satchel for your plants as well? For when you're collecting?"
no subject
He'd lived enough of a life where his abilities put him in with a good reputation. Any kills he committed were done cleanly and succinctly. Otherwise, his favourite kind of work sat with information and eavesdropping. Information was more powerful than any sharp blade, in his opinion. And it often better served his benefit.
"And yes. Although one could never have enough. It is a practical gift, and yet were I you, I would not expect anything in return."
no subject
"And I wasn't expecting anything in return, that much should have been clear." she stated, grinning over at Soryk. "It's the season of giving and that's what I wish to do. Besides, why not? A fellow Azerothian, while not the friendliest is still something I get to cherish having while on this odd world."
no subject
Soryk shook his head as he heard her. "I do not understand you in any way, shape, or form, despite the idea that we are speaking the same language. It is as if this season has made you dreadfully sentimental. I do hope you will not intend to hold onto just such a thing. I doubt I could endure it up past springtime and its blossoming flowers."
Or perhaps he could and he simply didn't want to. They were virtually the same.
no subject
"I doubt it. Not sentimental anyways... I suppose our home just forced me to appreciate everything I could while I still breathed. You know how it is... there's not a morning that one could wake up thinking for sure that they made it through the night unscathed, without some destructive force ending all you worked so hard to preserve."
She shrugged and grinned. "So I enjoy everything I can while I have the chance and honestly, I don't mind it one bit, but I suppose it can be grating." Not that she was the bubbling, chipper type... More of a enjoy life's pleasures and sow some mischief while at it.
no subject
'Grating' wasn't necessarily wrong. He just didn't want to say it like that. He was supposed to be trying to better enjoy the season and to be fair things weren't as bad as they could have been. How did he really feel about it, however?
To be fair, it was hard to get Zelda out of his head.
"You are more expressive than I am, yet I know well enough not to take ideals and people for granted. You have merit to your words and that I will not deny."
no subject
Which is probably why she was more of a woman of action.
no subject
But he wasn't insulted by it. If anything, it was only factual and how could he really fault her for something that seemed to genuinely just be a part of who she was? In honesty, easily. But for whatever reason, he didn't feel like biting at what seemed like an obvious lure. As if he was a fish who finally knew better.
no subject
"Stubborn..." she almost whispered it before laughing a little. "Yeah, yeah that is one of the things I'm called often. Though more than usual in the midst of battle. Never quite knew when to retreat you know? The heat of moment and all, it was hard to remove myself when I was blinded by it all." That, and many other reasons she's sure those familiar with their world would know of.
no subject
Because it was a feeling he never forgot. Never one to really be on the front lines of battle, Soryk liked the rush of power he got when life was stripped. Not from him, of course, but others. And he could understand the adrenaline Ellistree must have obtained when steel clashed with steel, sparks were born, and tension filled the air.
no subject
"It's what you grow up with you know? Well, most of us. And then, depending on what road we take in life, we still get engaged with the concepts of war and combat, no matter how little or extensive it may be. It eventually stops being something you could do and it ends up being more of a way of life." In more ways than one.
"Though, I guess I don't mind having peace every once in a while... but I can't say that having nothing to do doesn't make me restless."
no subject
Well. Back there, just about everyone was an enemy, and none so much more so than his own kind, with their backstabbing and vile, underhanded schemes. Not that he was so much better as to completely avoid that kind of political and societal corruption.
"I have lived a life of peace," Soryk admitted. "It was not so grand." In fact, he seemed to recall it involved seeing his parents and listening to them badger him about his wife-to-be and when they'd potentially be spawning endearing little half-elves.
