Blind Dates: B TABLES.

What: BLIND DATES! Round 2.
Who: Anyone who was sent a note with the letter-number combination B#.
Where: Off-campus restaurant. AND BEYOND!
When: November 30th, eveningtimes.
Warnings: ???
ALSO, HEY, TAG YOUR CHARACTERS WHEN YOU REPLY TO THIS LOG.

[The second group has been told to find some place somewhat out of the way. It's at the other end of the city, and maybe a little harder to find than the others. The dining room is bigger than it looks from the outside, though, and it's actually rather nice. There's quiet music playing overhead. There seems to be a little of everything on the menu, but it all does seem a little fancy. It's expensive, but it's not like you're paying, right?

It might have been smart to dress nice- but not too nice- for your date. At least that's what Gold suggested!

There's a candle at every table. Beside each candle, there is a card. On each card, there is a different letter-number combination.

Find your table!

And feel free to leave at any time, with or without your date.]

[Gordon had blustered and raged when he realized he'd been entered into this thing without his knowledge, but he'd had enough time to realize that there was really nothing to protest. The worst that could come out of this, was maybe some bad seafood and stilted conversation. Besides, the venue could have been worse. They had good coffee, at least; the best the Seattlite has had in twenty years or so. Leaned back against his chair, wearing a hastily-garnered blazer and book in hand, he waits patiently for his... date.]

So you're my date, I see.

[Chun Li stepped around his chair wearing a flattering purple dress and a somewhat amused smile. She honestly couldn't recall the last date she'd been on that wasn't somehow related to work so this was a rare opportunity.]

Nice to meet you.

...

[It's impolite to stare, Gordon, no matter how lovely she is. Hell, for a moment his inner science nerd actually wonders if she has the right table... He snaps out of it quickly and hops to his feet to pull out the inspector's chair. You know, suddenly this whole "blind date" thing doesn't seem quite so bad after all.]

The, ah... the pleasure's all mine! [He says through a chuckle]

[Well, he certainly gets points for being polite and she continues to smile as she seats herself into the offered chair. Once seated, Chun Li crossed her legs casually and watched as he returned to his seat.]

I don't think we've been formally introduced. My name is Chun Li and I teach the gymnastics class.

[His forgotten book is placed absently on the table as he seats himself. The title reads "Dad's Nuke, and other science fiction stories."]

Freeman, Gordon Freeman. I'm the new physics teacher. Have you been at this school long?

Not very long, only a few months. That sounds like a tough subject to teach. Do you find it difficult or do you enjoy it?

[While it wasn't really a subject she was strong in, she found it interesting to listen to other people who did understand it talk about it. Even if she only understood some of the concepts.]

Oh, I enjoy it, and not just because it's difficult. [He adds with a half-smile over the menu.] I don't remember a time when I didn't want to learn the hidden secrets behind the way the world works, to pick apart reality and try to figure out the pieces.

Although my work back home was in research, not teaching.

[She alternates between looking at him and down at her menu while listening.]

Do you think that mankind will ever fully understand how everything works?

If we ever did, then the world would become a pretty boring place. No mystery to it. [He takes a drink of his coffee.] ...Not to mention I'd be out of a job.

What about you? Gymnastics is an extremely demanding sport.
