class log - traditional weaponry
Who: Jin, students.
What: Traditional Weaponry class
Where: In... this classroom
When: Tuesday, Nov 20th
Warnings: Callousness
[And here is the part where we pretend like this class has been running all along.]
[Jin was finding this class to be a lot easier to run when his hair was not pink/was not a girl/was not pretending to be Samus.
He stood at the front of the room, one hand on his hip, the other resting on Yukianesa's hilt. He stared out at the seated group through reading glasses, brow set in a stern look. Never mind that some of the students in the room were older than him, he was used to that sort of thing.]
Today your personal essays on the use of close range melee weapons is due. You were supposed to have chosen the top three weapons you would use in a military scrimmage, why, and what scenarios they would best be used in. Your most supported choice will be supplied to you next session for introductory practice. I will remind you right now that if you included a firearm in your choices, you weren't listening to the original assignment, and you get an F.
Before you turn them in, you'll be presenting the basic points of your assignment out loud, to the class.
[So I can shame you in front of everyone if it's shitty.
He points to the first student seated on his right.]

Re: YOUR TERRIBLE ESSAYS
Nunchuks are easy to carry, cause massive blunt force trauma at a speed that makes them almost impossible to block when used by someone with skill, and they can be used in a variety of ways in a variety of situations. Tomfa are handled clubs, again - huge potential for blunt force trauma and very versatile. Not as fast as Nunchuks but they can be used more effectively to smash even hard bones due to the extra force you can apply by leveraging your arm and body weight into torque. Guan Dao is a more limited weapon because it's a mid-range melee weapon which makes it's use more situational - basically a hybrid of sword and spear. A long handle with a slightly curved main blade and a spike headed backwards toward the user. The blade can be serrated to leave a messy wound. The back end can be used as a staff or long club where necessary but it takes some skill. These weapons are often used to remove the use of an opponents legs or intestines. An unprotected throat also provides a perfect target.

You have experience in any of these weapons?

Re: YOUR TERRIBLE ESSAYS
Pit walked up to the front of the class, a piece of paper in his hands. He looked kind of embarrassed, like he really wasn't prepared for this assignment at all, but he began anyway.]
So, uh. You want me to... read my essay. All right! Um. I... would use bows because... well, I like bows. They're like second nature to me and I hardly even have to think when I have one in my hands. Kind of like picking your nose! Um. Yeah, that's kind of a gross example. Sorry.
Uh. What else... Oh! Claws are great too. Not only do they rip the enemy into shreds but they increase your speed. Pretty awesome, right? Sure makes up for the lack of range they have. And blades are nice too. Good not only for melee, but ranged fights too. Did I mention they're user-friendly?
[It is pretty obvious that he's not even reading his paper most of the time. He's just gabbing at the class off the top of his head. If you were to peek behind him... you'd realize why.]

My First Essay
I would use a sword, a slingshot, and deku nuts. A sword is for fighting the most kinds of monsters and lets you hurt them a lot. You can cut them really good with it. A slingshot is important to have for when you are too short to reach the monster's weak spot so you can hurt them and make them drop to the ground so you can hit them with your sword. Deku nuts will stun the monster and make it freeze for a little while so you can move in close to hit them with your sword. The End.
[And the written version
provided in far more legibility than Link is capable of as yet:I wud use a sword a sling shot and deku nuts. A sword is for fiting the most kinds of monsters and lets you hurt them a lot. Explain Deku nuts to me?
no subject
You throw this at an enemy and when it hits them, it creates a bright flash and bang that stuns them for a few moments so you can move in close and hurt them. They're dropped by Deku Baba.

... I'd like for you to incorporate these into your practice next session.

I don't have many. I can only carry twenty and I'm down to seven.
