Bluesneaker
Who: Sonic the Hedgehog [
bluestreaker ] & you there on the horizon
What: Sonic's acting suspicious.
Where: General campus area and woods
When: At sunset on October 17 and every sunset onward.
Other: Action tags or prose welcomed.
It was to say that it wasn't without immense difficulty that Sonic could act as normal. Eggman had really turned his world on its head and the end result was someone he cared for being caught in the crossfire. He had suspected, however, that it might've been Eggman's intention all along. Not that it made it any better.
Seeing as he felt he had little choice, every evening when the sun began to set, Sonic would leave the dorms. He'd never say anything and he'd never be around the buildings after the sunlight had distanced itself from the academy. If anyone had been paying attention or attempted to interact with him, his cheery nature seemed forced. If anything, he looked exhausted and worn, beaten into submission by something within the back of his mind. Not that you'd exactly know it, but perhaps the more perceptive would find it worrisome when he'd stop smiling as soon as he was finished talking and take off in the same heartbeat.
Out the dorms and into the depths of the woods. This was his new routine. And, he could tell ya, he wasn't particularly enjoying sleeping in the woods every night since he found himself injected with this Werehog disease all over again. All that mattered was staying away from everyone until he knew how to combat Eggman's overpowering whistle.
Whenever that would be.
[ooc: So once the sun goes down, Sonic turns into this guy. Depending on when you bump into him, you might catch him as hedgehog and watch him transform or just start with the fluffers.]

Sonic parked his fuzzy rump right on the branch, knowing Shadow's behavior was going to land them in a fight.
"Friend of the bird."
no subject
"Well," he began with a bit of a scoff, "your little friend thinks I am going to cause her harm, when..."
A pause after he trailed off, and then...
"Have you seen any candies here?" It didn't seem like this one was drugged, so probably not, but he was going to try anyway. No harm in that.

But being it was autumn, the days were short and the nights dreadfully long. It was a mild comfort in an intense storm.
Sonic carefully escorted the bird with his finger back to the branch, then took a leap down to level with Shadow. He fell within a few feet of him, the impact sweeping leaves across the other's toes. Sonic remained with an easy demeanor, though, for as long as Shadow would keep his place.
"Can't say I've seen any of those suckers here," he reported, crossing his arms to his chest.
no subject
"In any case, what are you?"
Something about this thing... It felt familiar, but he couldn't pinpoint how. Maybe he was a student that he'd briefly encountered and forgotten about. Some of the presences in this academy are easy to shelve and never think about again, after all. He wouldn't be surprised if this was just someone he couldn't recall.
If that was true, however, why was he out here?
no subject
A monster.
He wasn't going to let Eggman's influence win this one. Even if he felt like he had lost a chunk of himself, he had to hang onto what remained. He was fine now, acceptable. He was of his own mind and no one else's.
He was -
"A hedgehog."
no subject
A blue hedgehog.
It doesn't take long for Shadow's heart to leap into his throat, and then just as quickly to sink back down into his stomach. His body lost all tension, ears perking back up, and his expression, well...
It very clearly displayed how much his mind broke.
"S... Sonic?"
What.
no subject
The Werehog gave him a hearty snarl of a grin, a pronounced satisfaction, so to speak. So Shadow hadn't let him down quite as much as he suspected he would.
It really lifted his spirits.
"I'm dressed for winter," he explained casually. "I'll shed it come spring." That's not how hedgehogs work, bro.
no subject
Yep, exactly. Shadow took some light steps forward, enough to reach a hand out and touch his bicep with his palm. Now he held no hesitation, now that he knew this was Sonic. He definitely had his eyes, his playful tone, his earthy scent... yes. There was no doubting it.
He had no idea that his tail was involuntarily wagging at the prospect.
"What happened?" Shadow wasn't asking what was wrong. He was asking what happened. He was treating him the same as always, like a hedgehog, not like a monster displaying wrongness. That was a pretty big deal, but for him, it just flowed naturally without a second thought.

He had been left to his own thoughts for too long. When he ran miles upon miles into the open horizon, he never had sorrow in his heart. Sonic welcomed that solitude and its refreshing embrace.
He did not have that here. Not like this, not in this place. Unlike when he was with Chip, there wasn't a goal with a clear path this time. He couldn't find Eggman during the day and he was his puppet when night fell. Trapped. Just... Caged. Like a wild animal.
"Eggman happened," Sonic revealed. "But this isn't the first time I've been turned into..." His snout wrinkled with a scowl. "this."

The very concept smacked Shadow right in the head, and slowly, a wicked little smirk crept upon his lips. A wolf, a canine... oh. That was simply too precious, meant in a completely insincere, sinister manner.
... Okay, maybe in a genuine manner, too, but he wasn't about to admit to that.
He took a step back, a chuckle worming its way through his throat and making itself known. He placed a hand on his hip, his lips parting in his smile and showing the slightest hint of a fang peeking through.
"A puppy-dog."
The chuckling continued, all as he took one more step towards him again and reached out to pat him on the head. "Good boy."

So, if you don't mind, he was going to pretty much rocket punch in the general direction of your stupid face.
no subject
That happened to knock Shadow right into a tree. From the impact, he felt his head swirl, and he could recall doing was slumping down, his head dropping as he tried to regain his bearings. That definitely hurt, and he did that for little to no good reason.
Once he finally did lift his head slowly, the look on his face was nothing short of sour.
"... Tch, yet you tend to be the one to tell me to lighten up." He crinkled his nose at the blatant hypocrisy. It was just disgusting.

As if there were any doubt something wasn't already amiss, that response was a beacon for inquiry. Sonic lowered his snout toward the Earth and studied the dirt as if it were his only comfort and, in a way, it was. The Earth never caused him grief like this. He loved it immensely, but damn if it didn't harbor a whole lot of problems on top of it.
no subject
This wasn't right.
Any and all anger that began to bubble finally simmered down, leaving him pointedly confused and concerned. Sonic was usually jolly and positive, even amidst dire times, yet now, he was bitter about the situation instead of trying to fix it with a smile. There were so many things wrong with that. Only a total simpleton would be oblivious to that.
Gingerly, he lifted himself from the ground, shaking his tail to remove some grassy bits from his bottom. He eyed him warily as he took some gentle steps closer, trying to show that he isn't about to play around again. No time for games.
"... This is beyond your transformation," he spoke quietly, his worry slightly more pronounced than usual. "Something else is wrong. This behavior..." He sighed, shaking his head. "This is not like you."
no subject
To say the very least, he was allowed to be a little grumpy.
Even so, he knew Shadow was right. He reacted as quickly as expected but poorly, and perhaps he owed him an explanation. It didn't matter that he wasn't on good terms with him for now.
"Sorry," he grumbled, a fine choice to start with, despite the tone. "Just don't do that and we're good."
no subject
Shadow could deal with that. Really, the idea of commanding a cute little puppy Sonic to roll over and play dead was far too tempting to be legal, but he wasn't bad enough to do it despite the werehog's uncharacteristically bad mood. He didn't admit to it blatantly, but he was legitimately worried, wondering what could have possibly left him feeling this crabby.
It was more than just being something different, he knew that much.
He hesitantly brought two hands up to stroke at his massive, fuzzy bicep, petting him soothingly and hoping to calm him down a little. All the while, his ears flopped back, reluctance building further and further in his mind.
He still did have to get used to this, this friendship with him.
"What is wrong?" He emphasized the question heavily this time, implying that he was not about to just drop it and leave it be. As much as the playful snot of a hedgehog grated on his every nerve, he missed that cocky, teasing grin more than anything in the world right now.

For all the spats these two constantly found themselves - that always seemed to be derived from horrible misunderstandings - they always turned themselves around to a point like this. Sonic wanted to press him, ask if he'd even believe him if he told him just to make a point, but now wasn't the time for getting in the last word.
He really needed to ask for help.
Post exhale, Sonic spoke with a tender voice, a moment of vulnerability to a friend.
"Eggman's got somethin' that controls me when I'm like this. Some kinda whistle. It sounds like a supersonic cricket with a cold but I can't seem to ignore his commands when he blows that stupid thing." And he could example what he had done to Blaze, but he wasn't ready to admit that.
Despite the eerie glow of the Werehog's emerald eyes, they definitely belonged to Sonic the Hedgehog, even if he was hidden inside of that framework somewhere for the evening. They expressed a subtle shame for a moment, but only until he revealed why. "I'm just Eggman's dog until I can find him and break that thing in half."
no subject
Yes, now Shadow understood, yet seeing him hide out and grump around instead of taking further action... That was not right. It was not just out of his character, but it was also not the right way to go. He had to aspire to stop him with the boisterous attitude he usually bore. Where did all of that go?
He had to get it back. He had to help Sonic assume control again.
That brought him to one convoluted idea, one so crazy that it just might work. It meant having to deal with a bit of humiliation, but if it even brought a slight grin to his face, he would already feel accomplished.
With that in mind, he sat down, hind legs positioned firmly and his hands pressed into the ground, much like, yes, a dog. His tail wagged behind him, however forced it was, and with his face completely stoic and solemn as always, he gave Sonic the truth:
"I am at your command.
"... Woof."
Oh.
no subject
"... Uh." Okay, no. Seriously. What the Heck? "Shadow? What are you doin'?"
no subject
Seriously. Do it before he changes his mind.
jfc why
"Uhhhhh.. Okay. Uhm," he skipped, dry throat taking a moment to let an order pass through. "Roll over?"
BUTT HIGH.no subject
Yep, temptation to stop was even worse now, but he tried to fight it.
"Such assertiveness, blue," he commented, his tail going 90 miles an hour again. "Assert further command. It pleases your pet."
Dear Chaos, I am never doing this ever again.
LMFAO HELP
OR SO YOU THINK.Sonic looked completely shocked to have had Shadow even obey. His jaw began to rise and fall, a giant fuzzy Pez dispenser with nothing to offer but short breaths. Once he got over the initial surprise, he was reloaded with words for Shadow's ears to feed on.
"Wh-... Why are you doing this?"
no subject
He paused for a quick moment, resuming instantly as to not allow Sonic to interrupt him. "The doctor is a powerful foe, but he is not perfect. You are both exceptionally strong. Just as easily as he took you to be his pet..."
He then smirked, genuinely this time, his tail moving without any need for force.
"... why not take him to be your own?"
