Bluesneaker
Who: Sonic the Hedgehog [
bluestreaker ] & you there on the horizon
What: Sonic's acting suspicious.
Where: General campus area and woods
When: At sunset on October 17 and every sunset onward.
Other: Action tags or prose welcomed.
It was to say that it wasn't without immense difficulty that Sonic could act as normal. Eggman had really turned his world on its head and the end result was someone he cared for being caught in the crossfire. He had suspected, however, that it might've been Eggman's intention all along. Not that it made it any better.
Seeing as he felt he had little choice, every evening when the sun began to set, Sonic would leave the dorms. He'd never say anything and he'd never be around the buildings after the sunlight had distanced itself from the academy. If anyone had been paying attention or attempted to interact with him, his cheery nature seemed forced. If anything, he looked exhausted and worn, beaten into submission by something within the back of his mind. Not that you'd exactly know it, but perhaps the more perceptive would find it worrisome when he'd stop smiling as soon as he was finished talking and take off in the same heartbeat.
Out the dorms and into the depths of the woods. This was his new routine. And, he could tell ya, he wasn't particularly enjoying sleeping in the woods every night since he found himself injected with this Werehog disease all over again. All that mattered was staying away from everyone until he knew how to combat Eggman's overpowering whistle.
Whenever that would be.
[ooc: So once the sun goes down, Sonic turns into this guy. Depending on when you bump into him, you might catch him as hedgehog and watch him transform or just start with the fluffers.]

He paused for a quick moment, resuming instantly as to not allow Sonic to interrupt him. "The doctor is a powerful foe, but he is not perfect. You are both exceptionally strong. Just as easily as he took you to be his pet..."
He then smirked, genuinely this time, his tail moving without any need for force.
"... why not take him to be your own?"

"That'd be nice if I could even find him during the day. Twigs 'n leaves aren't exactly 5-star hotel accommodations, y'know. I've been stealin' naps throughout the day as it is." As much willpower as Sonic had in that hard skull of his, it didn't mean much if he couldn't keep his eyes open. "And finding him at night is outta the question."
Them's the facts, but even in their cynic reality, the whole situation before him had dredged up a small smile. Even a little fang popped out as evidence.
Sonic walked over to Shadow and held his claws out to him. Enough of that. He needed to stand up before this got anymore awkward.

At least he got a smile out of him. That was a nice start.
"Pessimism will also get you nowhere," he told him, actually accepting those hands and lifting himself to the ground with his friend's weight. "You have proven successful in viewing the reality, but this is not the end."
He fell silent, his eyes dipping to the dirt beneath him, sprouting a couple of lone mushrooms. Two mushrooms, so small if they were apart, but more powerful as one...
"I... could locate him," he offered before letting go of him, arms falling limply to their sides. "For me, that would be child's play."

"Someone's already gotten hurt, so..." He lifted a hand up to slap Shadow on the shoulder and god damn was it heavier than the blue hedgehog realized. "Be careful!"
no subject
"Nnng- of course," Shadow retaliated, swatting away at his hand. What Sonic might have noticed, however, was that a ghost of a smile still remained dancing upon his lips. He considered this a success. He seemed more optimistic now, more jolly, more... Sonic. That was what he wanted to see.
He didn't realize until now how much he grew fond of his annoying behavior.
"Now," he began, running a hand through the bristly, navy blue fur on his chest. "You should know I will not allow you to sleep uncomfortably. I am going to find some blankets." He had plenty, truthfully, so it wasn't going to be a burden.
no subject
Sonic stepped back with digits immediately plowing trails along his fur, going for the itch he'd been lead into scratching.
"Uhh," Sonic dragged along, knowing he needed to follow that up with some kind of diversion. "Blankets! Blankets, yeah, are uh... would be way cool, yeah. Thanks."
... Go...od.
no subject
"Good. I will return," he informed him, giving him a curt nod. "Don't move from this spot unless it is necessary."
Hover skates alight, he rushed for the dorm complex, trying to remain unseen. He didn't want Eggman to spot and follow him to where Sonic resided, or else that could easily mean trouble. Thankfully, however, he felt that he was in the clear by the time he reached the woods again, his hands full with three plush, soft blankets. Maybe his hands were a little too full, for once he reached Sonic, he dropped them all with a mighty huff.
"Ghh-- much too large a pile for two arms," he complained, uncaring if they got dirty. The weight was obviously not an issue. It was the size, as well as ensuring that he didn't drop them. That would have slowed him down while he was trying to remain stealthy.

"Blankets. Shadow the Hedgehog's Achilles' heel," he quipped, approaching the stack to fluff them down. He brought him some nice ones!

Shadow gave a roll of his eyes, kneeling down to grab at one of the blankets and fling it over Sonic's shoulders. He felt a bit chilly, submitted to the brutal night air. It wasn't cold - in fact, it was best described as fresh - but he was still at the mercy of the elements here, something he felt protective about.
Sonic loved nature.
He wasn't about to let the thing he loved so much do him harm.
"Enough. You need rest," he told him, flopping down and nuzzling into the blankets. "I need to continue my search first thing in the morning... so I must sleep here." And no, he was not about to take no for an answer. Deal with it, blue hedgehog.
no subject
Even if he hated to be in this position, he'd never truly think ill of it - he'd just complain a whole lot.
"I - " Had no say in it, apparently. Shadow was already making himself at home against the woodland terrain, leaves muffled as their bodies crumpled into pieces beneath the weight of the comforting shell and its singular ingredient.
Sonic had been prepared not to object, but as a matter of fact, he had been considering asking Shadow to stay. The solitude had been a deafening concert of mad thoughts that no one else would or could listen to. Though the cost could be heavy if Eggman found them together, even this brief time with him was keeping his own skull from constricting on his brain any further. If Shadow could tell when this face was smiling, it was happening as he tucked himself in for the night's keep.
But after that? Please. He wasn't about to act like he was invited this his super awesome completely unplanned camp out. Besides, he was still ticked at him.
"Just don't throw any rabbits if they try to hug you or anythin'."

He owed him something important.
"Mm..." He shuffled closely to him, his fuzz proving to be a warm luxury as his body was smothered in it. He buried his face into a tuft of light blue pelt, his hands resting against his hulking mass. There was a pause, an eerie, awkward silence before he finally spoke again, his speech muffled, but legible:
"I... am sorry. Doubly so."
He felt that was all that was necessary, frankly. Sonic would surely get what he meant, especially by that final statement. It wasn't just the Chao thing here. He blamed him unnecessarily, wasting their time and getting them caught in the nude in a young girl's bedroom. It was wrong in every sense of the word.
Aaaand here came the bile rising to his throat, as well as the regret. Ugh. Too late now. He just... He really didn't like being wrong. He was the perfect creature. He shouldn't be doing any wrong.
no subject
The vague notion of that is what made Sonic just forgive him over and over again.
The apology was assumed before he even said a word. His actions were a definition of how a child would act after telling their parents how much they hate them, knowing that no matter how loud they screamed it, it wasn't true. It likely never would be.
Conclusions on what to do with this began to show themselves in the settling dust, and though Sonic was awkward about Shadow's movements, he chose to go with the flow. He relaxed his hand on his shoulder, taking the knowledge available by the weather that Shadow was looking for warmth, and then dropped it behind him. Being a massive heat tank wasn't what he was expecting tonight.
"Okay," his acceptance emerged. "We're cool. Just think about what you're doin' first next time." Says the more reckless of the two.

Of course, Shadow picked up the hypocrisy in that instant, but he didn't let it bother him this time. He gave a single purr, curling up at his side and furling his fingers, his loose fists pressed gently against his bulky chest. He was... comfortable. He was okay. They were both okay.
His little smile was buried so deeply in blue fur.
"Hmph. You have no right to speak." His eyes slipped shut, and he inhaled his scent, a kind of woodsy aroma gained from so much time out in the wilderness. He was probably filthy, but he didn't even care about that. Normally, he would, but he was just far too enveloped in bliss to care.
So this-- this was what friendship was like.
It might just be worth it.
"Pot and kettle," he whispered, feeling his body slowly sink into full relaxation. Tired...

Sonic picked up a leaf, not as thoughtful as his prosing guide on the matter, but knowing that this whatever was certainly going to knock him out soon enough like a natural sedative. He picked up a leaf from behind Shadow and curled it back up toward his ear to tickle at it.
In other words, Shut your mouth, jerk.
Playfully, of course.
no subject
"Given we are in close proximity," he spoke, curling his hand back in-between their bodies, "you are nearly asking for me to bite you."
The thing here? He wasn't lying. He hardly ever lied. If he threatened it, he'd likely do it, and it's not a cute, mouthy play bite like a sweet doggy.
... Okay, maybe it would be, but it'd be a very rough play bite.

Shadow smirked, peering right up at him. Oh, he knew he wouldn't do that. He'd hesitate, surely, out of preventing any major, unnecessary harm. That huge maw could crush him, should he want it to, and Sonic, wanting to kill him?
He...
He knew him better than that. Trusted him, even.
no subject
Well... that was true.
"Don't sound so sure!" He wasn't looking right at him, lip up in a snarl and eyes averted, so yeah. Feel free to sound pretty damn sure.
no subject
Bite.
Did he just chomp on his collarbone? Wow, yes. Yes he did. He was gentle about it, sure, making it more like a nibble, but still. Rude.
no subject
"Shadow..." His voice rumbled in its cage of tiny pearl knives. "Knock it off-- OW!" Still a pinch he wasn't expecting! "What the heck?! You actually bit me!" WHO DOES THAT?
no subject
"Do you not take me seriously? Tsk." Shadow shook his head, his forehead bumping into the area he just nipped. "Shame on you."

He smacked Sonic's hand away, glaring at him with a vicious, silent warning to not do that again.
Bad puppy. No biscuit.

Shadow took to burying his face back into his fuzz, ears drooping with frustration and fatigue. He was just... done. So done. He was tired and Sonic was aggravating him, both because of this dire situation and his attitude. He just --
He just wanted him to be normal again for his sake.
"Just go to sleep."
