Holy crap I hope I do this right
Who: Garry and all the inspiring painters
What: PAINTING CLASS!111!11 First one.
Where: Some art room.
When: Le first week of school. Morning.
Warnings: To much artistic expression in this RP log.
Come inside guys. Whoever signed up for this class. Come. And sit. And look at the man in the long coat and bacon/seaweed hair. Who is sitting at the front desk with a large book and a big latte that Garry took a swig from before standing up and looking cheerfully at his students. Ahhh, fall time means pumpkin spice lattes.
"Good morning everyone! And welcome to Painting 101!"
Well, this guy seems nice. Maybe you feel more at ease. Seriously, you can't get nicer with this guy.
"For those who haven't met me yet, I'm Garry. No need with the formality 'Mister'. 'Garry' is just fine."
Uh okay, he writes his name on the board. TWO "R's". YOU NEED TO KNOW THIS.
"I'm going to make this very brief for an introduction, so we can go to the painting right away..."
Now he looked SERIOUS.
"You may be thinking, 'Gosh, what if I don't have enough talent for this class'. Or, 'I'm going to fail and all the other students are more talented than me'."
He shakes his head, "That isn't what art is about. My class is all about teaching you the technique. The expression and what you put on the canvas will be all you. And no student is going to paint the same, that does NOT mean you don't have talent. You can discover any talent you never knew you had with one stroke of a paintbrush or with a fair amount of practice; and there's nothing wrong with either. If you come to me and honestly tell me that you feel your work is inadequate, I will tell you that you only lack self confidence. Self confidence goes such a long way. That said, there's always room for improvement in everyone. Even me. If you ask for honest critique so you CAN feel better, I will help. I learned this all from MY art professors, and now I'm telling you." Garry paused a bit.
"However, as your teacher, I do expect to see effort, participation, and punctuality. That is what you're graded on, after all. But as long as you work hard, you'll do just fine in this course."
He clasped his hands together, sounding off he was done with his speech.
"Any questions?"

"Any questions?"

"She was trying to say something."
no subject
"Um... wait, who?"

Oh.
Izzy repositioned her motions. (She motioned towards one of Lyra's pigtails.)
And then she looked back at Eikichi. (His shoulder.)
"Are you offended by blind people?"
no subject
A careful pause.
"Mind you, I didn't expect someone who's blind to be in a painting class. Not because you can't do it...but it's bittersweet you can't appreciate what you're drawing, you know?"
no subject
"I think it's good to not let it get in the way, I can support such a thing," Garry nodded.
"I heard of a woman who was completely blind and she joined a huge cooking competition because she wanted to prove herself as a cook. And she really went places with the whole thing. I don't know if she won, but I DO know she was in the final two of the show."
In Michel's direction now. "I think it's only fair to have her enjoy whatever she does. Nothing has to be bittersweet if you don't want it to."
no subject
She held up her hands. "Whoa, whoa. It's touching that y'all are suddenly really sensitive about the subject but I think you're setting up some awesome emotional expectations now, ok. Let's try not to do that so we don't all crash and burn. We cool?"

"Maybe all I wanted was a hello, thanks. All I did was sit down."
Yeah, she was a dick. She knew it and she would admit it. Normally, she didn't care. If Lyra's jitters had been caused by the way Izzy had treated her, sure, she could understand that. But she knew the majority of the problem was not that. When someone was afraid of her based entirely on a misconception and projected that on her, Izzy cared.
"Projecting your batshit notions that someone is a blood sucking monster on someone who isn't is a pretty dick move too, if you ask me." She got out of her seat and stomped off somewhere where there were less heroes and idealisms.
She'd just have to be a bigger dick later.

"Well that could have gone better."
