Link woke up, confused and shook up by the weird warping that had happened to the world. He sat on the ground in front of a brightly colored rainbow bridge in the middle of an otherwise foreboding and desolate world. A very, very scary looking tower that hovered over a huge pit of lava was connected to the strip of land Link sat on. The sun was blocked by dark clouds that crackled with lightning in the sky above.

"Navi? Where are we?" He asked as he stood up and looked around. When no answer came, he reached up to take his hat off and look for his friend inside, "Navi?"

She wasn't there and he couldn't see or hear her. He was alone.

Oh, hey, fancy meeting you here.

"The bridge is pretty, but the castle sure isn't."

Link spun around with a loud "Aahh!" and stumbled back a couple steps. Why did everyone sneak up on him like that? He caught his breath and smiled when he saw who it was.

"Oh! Hey! Where are we?"

Skull Kid shrugged. "Iunno. It's not Termina. There's only one big spooky castle there."

He stepped forward and placed a foot on the shiny bridge and was pleasantly surprised when he found it was solid. "Hey, you can walk on this thing!"

Link followed the Skull Kid over to the bridge. He didn't step on it though, because beyond the bridge was the big, scary castle, "I don't know if we should go over there."

"How come? I bet there's cool stuff in there!" Skull Kid marched over the bridge, looking over his shoulder to address Link. It was only after he stepped onto the ground on the other side did he look back up and it dawned on him that this was actually a pretty scary place.

There was also a feeling in the air; if he know what the word "foreboding" meant he would describe it as that. There was something wrong with this place. "B-but then again, maybe we can find some cool stuff somewhere else."

Since the Skull Kid had already gone over to the other side, Link ran across the bridge to join him. Unfortunately, the bridge decided to disappear once they were both across, trapping them on the side with the evil, foreboding fortress.

Link reached over and tugged on the Skull Kid's sleeve to get him to turn around and look at the empty space that used to hold the bridge, "I don't think we can go somewhere else anymore.

Skull Kid turned around and saw that yes, they were in fact trapped.

"...Oh." He said simply, and gulped as he turned to face the Big Spooky Castle again.

"You go first."

Link looked back at the castle and then at the Skull Kid. Link was scared,too, but he could protect the Skull Kid. He'd broken the curse on the Deku Tree after all.

Link smiled and reached down to firmly take the Skull Kid's hand with his right hand and started walking, "We'll go in together."

"O-okay." The longer Skull Kid stood on this side of the bridge, the more this felt like a terrible idea. He wished Tatl and Tael were around. But Link was here, and Link could do anything!

"I'll watch your back if you watch mine."

[breaks_pots]

"Sure," Link gave a single, firm nod. He headed up to the door of the castle, Skull Kid's hand in his. It was giant, double door that towered over the two of them. A lot of trees must have been used to make it. He wasn't sure if they could open it...

"We'll have to push together," Link said decisively, letting go of the Skull Kid and putting his hands against the wood on one side.
