Instructions: Start up threads, make sure you include everyone in your cupid group (So Lash's group would be Cyrus, Hawke, Lash and Ron) and there is no real need for a tagging order. Someone can show up later after people have been hit with an arrow etc. When you need Cupid Man, go post in the OOC post.

Ahh what a fine day for causing trouble!
Robotnik was nowhere to be found (Good), but the Mega Twirp had found himself back in their school (Bad). Of course Wily couldn't risk doing this back in Capcom, oh no. Nope, if he was going to test this little robot, built upon leftovers from his nemesis shitty inventions, OH he was going to test it on Smash Academy.

Cupid Man was a state of the art Robot Master (tm). Designed to look a bit like a cupid, it had both stealth and a weapon which could amusingly switch how a person felt about the other. And what a perfect time to test this than Valentines!

...no he wasn't bitter at being FOREVER ALONE. Or being a Virgin Man.

Regardless of what you might think of him, he was totally crackling away at his home base, watching how this would all unfold.

And what a good time would be had by all.

...Erm. Well, he was okay until you brought up Caim, Phoenix. But he meant well, Mac thought. He felt mostly awkward. Mac obviously was looking better by the moment and was close to being completely healed at this point.

"I'm fine, Mr. Wright. He ain't gonna get me no more and just because I got hurt don't mean I'm a pushover," Mac said to reassure. "I can fight for myself, so don't worry, 'kay?"

But Phoenix wouldn't hear any of it. Nope.

"But I can't let you go wandering around unprotected when there are men like him out and about!"

He couldn't explain the feeling. It was just... he would rather die than see Mac hurt again. He didn't know him too well, but that was okay. He would gladly throw his life away to protect him!

No, not this again. Mac was trying to not be angry. But this was now going from weird to very uncomfortable. Mac hated bodyguards, or rather, the concept.

"I ain't havin' people be my bodyguards, sir. It ain't right and it ain't fair."

His expression was still calm.

"Thanks for the concern but I'm really fine. And I will be fine. I dunno how easy it is to believe but I know how to take care of myself. I really do. Even though this happened, it's just gonna make me be better. That ain't happenin' if I got people all around me like I'm made o'glass.

It still didn't register with Phoenix. No, he knew Mac wasn't made of glass. In fact, he knew that Mac was a pretty strong guy for having survived what Caim did to him. However, it wasn't that. It was...

"But Mac, don't you see? I... I love you!"

Phoenix found himself blurting this out, completely out of the blue. Had he been in a more rational state of mind, he would have realized that this was exactly how he felt for Dahlia upon first meeting her, and never wanted to go through that again. But he was completely gung-ho over Mac. Nothing else mattered.

If Mac could spit take he would. But he was lacking a beverage. OH NO IT WAS HAPPENING AGAIN. It was. Wasn't it. Mac hoped it was.

"W-wha..."

Now that Phoenix had said how he felt, it seemed like he had always felt this way, like he was destined to fall in love with Mac. It seemed like the natural order of things, or something. But now it was all he could think about: protecting Mac, saving him, being in love with him.

"You heard me," he said with surprising boldness, "I'm in love with you. And I can't live with myself if you get hurt again."

It didn't strike Phoenix that this was rather abnormal, that he barely knew the guy, that he didn't want to sacrifice everything for some sick, obsessive love like he once did in college. He had fallen in love with Dahlia practically at first sight, so it was only perfectly logical that he would fall in love with Mac so quickly. But the illogical part was everything else. It just didn't register at all.

Oh god no. How the hell is Mac going to handle this. Better go at with with one angle Mac thought up first.

"...Thanks but for one thing, sorry if it's on the harsh side, but I already got someone."

Phoenix did instantly feel a sharp pain in his heart when Mac told him the unfortunate news. He couldn't picture a world without Mac by his side, but he had someone else in his life. Why was fate so damned cruel to him?! First he lost his badge, and then the love of his life didn't return his feelings.

"I... see." He looked hurt for a minute, dropping his gaze to the ground, but then immediately turned his bright blue eyes back toward the boxer. "But I still want to protect you!"

Phoenix really wasn't any sort of bodyguard, but he would easily risk his life to protect those he cares about.

Well now he hurt his feelings and Mac felt bad, even though he had a feeling that those weren't the feelings Phoenix was really feeling. Call it a hunching feeling. All the feelings.

Maybe if he drilled it hard enough...Maybe he would know for sure then.

He walked up close to Phoenix, just a few inches in front of him.

"Look. See? I'm fine."

Mac may have been fine right then, but Phoenix started worrying again.

"Yeah, but you weren't fine when Caim attacked you! If I had done my job and found the killer when he first struck, I could have prevented you from being hurt!"

It was a combination of all of these fake love feelings and Phoenix's own insecurity about his disbarment that were manifesting itself onto Mac. He normally would have kept more quiet about it, but now he was so hopelessly in love and so determined to protect him.
