/insert Silver's theme here.

Who: Lyra and Silver
What: Rival fight get.
Where: The stadium
When: July 15th not long after he's reclaimed Gengar so like... 2pmish?
Warnings: It's a pokemon battle. 8D

[Despite having agreed to a battle, Silver'd first gone to reclaim his Gengar from N. And then he'd come down to the stadium, making his way up into the stands to give some of his Pokemon a brush before battle.

Currently, Bree was commandeering the attentions of it while the teen mulled things over in his head but quickly dismissed them in turn. As strange as the school was, he was hear for one purpose - to get stronger. And he would, regardless of the strangeness and the fact that Lyra was like 12. And apparently had more than that stupid Maril.

Whatever. A battle was a battle.
] Heh, looking forward to the battle, girl?

[The Umbreon nodded, and Silver laughed. Of course she was - stupid question.] Good. We'll crush her.

Ummmbreee. [Silver grinned just a little then fished out his Sneasel so that he could groom the Pokemon as well, all the while keeping an eye on the entrance to the stadium.

If only so that he could deny being nice to his tools, of course.
]

Yeah, same here :/

[But!

Before Silver can even finish saying his order, Lyra interrupts, calling out an order of her own in a teasing little singsong voice.]

Sucker Punch.

[Joke's on you, Silver: LYRA ACTIVATES HER TRAP CARD. This was what she'd been hoping would happen, in all actuality. She knew Silver -- the one she was used to, at least -- had plenty of smarts. If she sent out something really threatening when Gengar was this injured, there was the possibility of Silver responding defensively, by throwing out a move like Hypnosis or Curse or something. With Furret... well, nobody ever took poor Tavi that seriously, and Silver was no exception, apparently.

And as a result, before Gengar had the chance to get an attack off, Tavi was all up in its face, straight-up slugging the ghost. Attacking first was a nice advantage, as was being able to hit with a super-effective dark-type move... but this also put Tavi in real close. If Gengar had survived that surprise attack, then there was no way that Furret was going to dodge Gengar's counterattack.]

I dunno, I think it'd be a close match!

Just keep talking big while you still can, Silver. Tavi, another Sucker Punch!

[Well, why mess with what works? She got off to a weak start with that Golbat pushing Rui into a corner, sure, but Silver made the mistake of sending out a psychic-type into something he knows is gonna hit with a dark-type move. Maybe she can use this to keep up her momentum.

...Or not. Tavi bounds in to deliver another punch, but he's not lucky enough to avoid being attacked this time around. Lyra's feeling pretty confident that he can handle the hit, but nope. Two words that spell out certain doom: critical hit. Tavi shrieks, clutching his head in his stubby little paws, and collapses to the ground in a twitching, defeated heap.]

Aw, no way! We were doing so good, too!

[Lyra's expression? You could probably call it a pout, but of course that would be silly because totally-grown-up-12-year-olds like her are obviously too mature to pout. Obviously. Yes. The KO'ed Furret is returned to his ball, and out comes a new Pokemon: a Scizor.]

This one's not going down that easy, Silver! Flynn, start off with a Double Team.

[The Scizor complies, three illusory copies of herself appearing around her. Truthfully, Lyra expects this to be a bit of a "free turn", so to speak; with psychics being weak to bugs, and steel-types resisting psychic moves, she's assuming Silver will switch Alakazam out for something that can do more damage to Flynn.]

As far as rivals go, he's easily one of the toughest, yeah.

[Oooh, that is so typical Silver! Here she is, totally holding her own against him, and all he can do is talk about how she's apparently so weak! She knows that's just how Silver operates, but man, does it ever grind her gears sometimes. This is no time to be losing her head over it, though. Things didn't quite go as planned, after all. That's typical Silver, too; always thinking a step ahead of her.

But that doesn't mean Lyra isn't thinking. She's got a good feeling about Flynn; even if she can't bump her evasion up anymore, she's got solid enough defense to take some abuse. And bug/steel is a typing that might just spell out trouble for Silver's team, if Lyra is remembering right -- Alakazam and Sneasel both share a bug weakness, and if she remembers right, he's got an Umbreon with that same weakness, too.

Yeah, she'll still be okay without Double Team. She just has to stay cool, and focus on launching an offensive instead of playing defensive.]

Who needs Double Team anyway? Let's lay the hurt on, Flynn! Bug Bite!

[With a Technician boost behind it, this move just might hurt, if given the chance to land. The Scizors, real and illusion, all charge in, jabbing out and trying to clamp a pincer down on that Alakazam of Silver's.]

It's all thanks to him having such a good AI. He's the "smartest" rival I've seen.

[Alakazam could pack a punch, that was for sure, but Flynn had her natural resistance to psychic moves to fall back on. She withstood the attack, though one of her Double Team clones evaporated as some of her focus was lost.]

Don't give up, Flynn! Try an Aerial Ace!

[Another move chosen for the Technician boost, though the accuracy's also a nice plus. That Reflect is gonna cause problems until it fades away, but Alakazam's already taken some damage, so she's banking on it being enough. Flynn's wings kick into overtime as she darts in to slice at Alakazam, hoping to put an end to the psychic barrage before it gets to be a serious problem.]

Good luck getting your hands on it, man

[Lyra's well-acquainted with just how much power a Feraligatr's got. Flynn might be built like a brick wall, but even she wouldn't be able to withstand more than a few hits like that. She could hope for a lucky miss with those Double Team copies, but she's not looking to risk it.

Just like Flynn has the potential to cause a lot of trouble for Silver's team, Feraligatr could be a problem for Lyra's; her best counters have already been knocked out, and her own Feraligatr is not only injured, but poisoned. Magcargo would go down in a single Waterfall... Dragonite might be able to do it if this Feraligatr doesn't have ice moves. It's a big risk, but she's going to need Flynn for Alakazam and those dark-types.

Lyra withdraws her Scizor, and instead sends out Dragonite. He ends up taking the Waterfall intended for Flynn, but again, resistances come in handy; Dragonite's still got plenty of stamina.]

Up into the sky, Janus! Hit 'em with Fly!

[The Dragonite spreads his wings and lifts into the air, climbing up out of reach. It's a strange reversal of the opening of the fight, really; now Silver's Feraligatr is the one with an opponent playing hard to get.]
