Political Science: Become The Overlord

Once the class had assembled, Eggman, with the most shit-eating grin ever on his face, stood up at his desk and cleared his throat.

"We've spent a good deal of time talking about democracy and rule by the people, but today we're going to take a look at the OTHER SIDE of the coin. TYRANNY!"

"Tyranny occurs when the STRONG finally wise up and exert their will over the WEAK! They prove that only those who are WORTHY deserve to rule in this world, and any who can't make the cut are nothing more than STEPPING STONES on the road to power!!"

He paced back and forth. "Now, by its definition, tyranny is technically when any leader is thought of as abusing their authority and disregarding their people. But by that definition, any politician you disagree with can be thought of as being a tyrant, if they don't make decisions you agree with!"

"So we get to the discussion portion of our class. Tell me, under what circumstances might an authoritarian rule be DESIRABLE?"

And he expected an answer.

"Given the chance, people will walk all over each other to get what they want. It's hard wired into human behaviour, and only environmental factors change that."

"Maybe some, but not all. There are a lot of people who, every single day, sacrifice the things they want in favor of the things other folks need. Y'know. Charity work, volunteer jobs, non-profits... that kinda stuff."
