Baby come back
Who: Pit, Jeff Angel
What:make up make out make up make out log
When: Oct. 26th
Where: outside, on campus
Warnings: tsunderes and teh ghey I mean no I mean yeah okay
It had been over a week since Pit moved out. It had taken less than that for Jeff to start spending all his time in the library in order to avoid their room. His room.
Not that he would ever admit it out loud, but sometimes silence wasn't always golden. Of course he enjoyed the solidarity for the first few days. He could listen to his music as loud as he wanted. He could stretch out in the room, not worrying about being presentable in another's company. He didn't have to listen to energetic babbling about the stupidest, most obvious things ever. It was bliss.
Or at least it had been. And then the silence set in. Jeff started to realize that it was a little more difficult to focus on his homework without the angel's constant chattering in the background. And that listening to his music was boring without the angel randomly dancing in the middle of the room. And that maybe, just maybe, sitting by himself in that suddenly large room was just the tiniest bit... lonely.
He could never say that, though. Especially not to the angel's face. So that was why he was currently on his way to the library. To pick out some more books to read. And certainly not so he could distract himself from that silent, empty room.

Yeah, living with Lash and Kumatora had been a blast! Every day, he spent time with two of his exciting friends, and every night had almost been like a sleepover or a party. Time had fed him grief in tiny dealings at first. Once in every blue moon came a stab of rue, regret for leaving Jeff and their room behind in such a fierce and abrupt manner. Whenever a day had been added to the length of stay, the sour feelings would poke at him more often. Finally, by the end of the week, they were so suffocating that his mind had been wrapped up in a constant state of wistfulness and apology, yet it was either his shameful pride or fearful insecurity that didn't allow him to simply walk over and settle their differences diplomatically and with grace. What would Jeff say? How would it make him look if he went back on his words? He couldn't just... do that! No matter how much he missed him. He pressed himself into this mess. These were the consequences.
But circumstances were about to walk them into each other. As Pit turned a corner, he caught sight of Jeff Angel and felt a buzzing shock take over. Eyes widening, he nearly lost his books to gravity's bidding, and his steps clopped in a messy order to stop him from walking any further. "J-Jeff!" he cried.

Oh.
Jeff's stomach curled and his mouth became dry. Of course they were going to run into each other. They went to the same school, after all. It was simply a matter of time. But the blond hadn't expected it so suddenly.
Then again, he had half-wished that the angel would come crawling back and beg for forgiveness. What a foolish hope.
He nodded, acknowledging the other's presence. Suddenly, he felt the need to say something. Anything. Preferably something that would make the angel regret his decision of moving out.
"So... how's the constant sleepover party going?"
no subject
"...Great!" All of a sudden, he couldn't look him in the eyes straight anymore. "Living with Lash and Kumatora is great!" His true feelings were forced into submission by a stronger sense to protect that he meant what he said. "What about you? Enjoying the peaceful sanctuary of your empty room?" The last sentence may have had a slight bitter tinge to it.
no subject
"Oh definitely," he growled. Ah, but that was letting on too much emotion. Wouldn't want to give the angel the pleasure of know just how annoyed Jeff was. Clearing his throat, the blond glanced towards the library. "It's been amazing. I can finally relax in peace. I'm surprised I didn't complain directly to the headmaster before about sharing a room." His lips threatened to twitch downward in a frown, but he quickly caught himself.
no subject
"Well... good," was all he had to show.

As it stood, neither of them wanted to bring up the real topic. Then again, maybe it was all in Jeff's head. Pit was hardly a believable liar, but Jeff's own insecurities caused him to believe the angel's words. After all, why wouldn't Pit be happier with his other friends? It wasn't as if Jeff was the most exciting, fun person to be around.
And yet Pit had stayed by his side anyway. Despite all their previous arguments, the brunet had never actually stormed out before. As loathe as he was to accept the blame, Jeff had pushed Pit to that point.
Without even thinking, the words escaped his lips. "Well, if you ever get bored, you could always come--" He clamped his mouth shut, refusing to speak further. No, that would be admitting that he was wrong out loud. He shouldn't have even said that first part anyway. A sign of weakness.

But if Pit's hopeful tone was real, that meant he also wanted to--
How utterly pathetic. There he was, practically about to beg Pit to come back. Where was his pride? Jeff was disappointed in his own behavior.
"That's..." he faltered. All snarky comments left him. He couldn't think of a single insult. Gritting his teeth, he thought, How the mighty have fallen.
Taking a deep breath, he forced out a reply, "Why... does it even matter to you?"
no subject
"Do you miss me?"
no subject
"That's... I... Why would you..." He was fumbling. Oh god it was so painfully obvious. Even his angry tone was half-assed. Damn the angel for putting him in this sort of situation.
But Jeff wasn't about to give up. In a last ditch effort to save face, he snapped, "Why? It almost sounds like you want me to miss you."

Although it wasn't a direct answer, Jeff's brain automatically associated the negative word to the unspoken 'did you miss me too?' He knew that it was an assumption and that he hadn't actually asked the question, but he couldn't help the uncomfortable sensation of disappointment settling in his stomach.
"Oh," he muttered.
This wasn't getting anywhere. As he stood quietly, the sickening feeling in his gut deepened and swelled until it had spread up to his chest and tightened around his heart. He took a hesitant breath.
And then he let out a quiet chuckle. It started out no more than an unsure breath, slowly gaining volume. "Of course," he mumbled. "I wouldn't have expected you to." Jeff glared at the ground, not even aware of the minute wetness at the corners of his eyes.
no subject
"....Jeff? Hey. What's going on? Are you okay?"
no subject
Oh no. Oh those better not have been the beginnings of tears in his eyes. He quickly wiped them away. Jeff refused to sink that low. That would've been the last straw.
"It's nothing. I'm fine." His cheeks slightly colored, and the only thought that ran through his head was the desire not to be there anymore. All he wanted was to run away and hide under his covers. But that would mean going back to that empty room.
Mumbling to himself, he glared at the ground, "I hate how empty it is..."
no subject
Hearing nothing of the last mumble, his voice dipped to a whisper as he repeated his name again. "Jeff..." He balanced the small stack of books in one arm. Prepared for a negative reaction but boldly doing so, Pit's fingers gently collected Jeff's chin to lift his head up. He was being as gentle as possible because his heart was reaching out too.
no subject
"What?" he harshly whispered. Even his voice seemed to disobey him. The angel probably thought he was a pathetic mess. Thankfully there was no one else around. But the fact that Pit, someone who probably knew more about the blond than anyone else, was seeing him in such a state was humiliating enough. Maybe the most humiliating.
no subject
"I'm. I'm sorry. For what I did at that day. I shouldn't have been so mad like that." Strangled for words, he took a breath and a moment to fish around for some more. "And then I pretended my feelings were something else, boasted I was having soooo much fun just to prove a point- a point that wasn't even true. Um, that point... here's the point I was trying to hide." He pulled an awkward face, glanced away for a moment, then landed his eyes back on Jeff. "The point is... I missed you."
no subject
Those were the words Jeff had waited for. Pit was the first one to say them. It should've been a victory. Jeff should've gloated over the other, sneered and replied 'of course you did, I'm just that amazing and missable' but the words died in his throat.
Instead, a small, barely visible smile crossed his lips. "Y-yeah," he tried to sound haughty, but his voice came out weak and mumbled. "I know... I mean I... I, ah..." His blush darkened. "I... might've... missed you too... maybe."
no subject
"Then things can go back to normal! I can come back and sleep in my own bed! I won't be too loud or invasive, I promise! You know, Jeff, Lash's place may be fun and all, but I think I've come to realize that our room is the place I belong." Warm feelings seized control over Pit and he seemed to transform into the happy, bubbly angel Jeff saw when he didn't have a care in the world anymore. He'd been so long without him and the tension had been so new and powerful that it felt like months, not a week. His touchy-feely end was flaring and he indulged himself in the warmth around Jeff's shoulders, the faint scent of him.
"I won't run away again!" He rested his head there.
no subject
"You--" Jeff barked, but his voice left him when Pit placed his head on Jeff's shoulders. Biting his tongue, he glared off to the side. He argued to himself that it would be less of a hassle to just let the angel have his clingy way than to make a big fuss about it.
"Yeah, well... You better not touch any of my stuff without permission. That goes for your stupid pet too," he huffed. After a moment of hesitation, he mumbled, "Welcome back... or whatever..."

"They're... not going to be mad or anything that you're leaving, right?" Lash and Kumatora were some of the last people Jeff wanted to get angry at him. Both were rather known for explosive and violent behavior. Something the blond most definitely wanted to avoid.

"Oh... I see," he cleared his throat. "Well, good thing you're moving back then."

Both of them made a journey to Lash's room in another building. Being part-time student, she taught a class, so that put her in the position of having an apartment instead of a dormitory- it was big. Pit had a key and he slid it into the hole, twisted it, then opened the door, all with one hand. He wasn't sure who would be there. "I'm ho-ome," he sang, pushing the door open and giving Jeff some leeway to enter.
no subject
Jeff stayed quiet as Pit opened the door. He peered inside, not quite sure whether to enter or not. But since the angel had left the door opened, the blond ventured inside. And stayed by the doorway. Just in case he needed to make a quick getaway.

"Intruder Detected"
a robot voice spoke. And in a timely fashion Lash, from one of the rooms, appeared with her gun also raised. She quickly put it down when she saw Pit.
"Hey! I guess something malfunc-" And then she saw Jeff. "....oh." She took out a small controller and pressed a button on it. The guns moved back to their place.
no subject
But he wasn't about to put down his guard. Who knew what other crazy shit these crazy girls had? The room probably had booby traps or something equally insane and asinine.
"Yes, well, 'hello' to you too," he scowled. Talk about a lack of manners.
no subject
"Lash, I'm gonna move back in with Jeff now. We're done being mad at each other." His face brightened instantly when he turned to look at her. "Thanks for having me stay! It was fun."
no subject
"Oh good!" She obviously sounded a little bit disappointed at the turn of events. But it was to be excepted eventually, right? Right. "It was...fun to have you here." Hopefully he'd forgive her about the episode with the drooling. She gave Jeff and small glare before giving Pit a hug. "Well it's not that hard to find me right? Plus you're still in my class!" That felt so grown up to say. Noooo she was growing up.
Oh yeah, there was someone else here. She looked at Pit, released him from the hug and looked at Jeff.
"I guess you've never been here before eh? Tee hee hee! Welcome to the most amazing rooms in the teacher and student dorms!"
no subject
Her giggling didn't help much either. "No, I haven't. And I don't plan on coming back anytime soon." Or ever. He was about to snap out a comment about how lame the interior decorating was, but then he remembered the guns.
no subject
...Well. Maybe he should pack a little faster. Hug received, he bent down to shove school-related articles into his bag. "So much stu-uuff~"
