Who: Morty, Falkner
What: a walk in the park after city exploration
Where: FDC public park
When: Jan. 10, midday
Warnings:I wonder none
It had been quite a while since they had seen each other. Chances to see each other when they were both in Johto, at their respective gyms, were rare on their own. But Falkner had left for Smash Academy far before Morty had which just made it near impossible. It was for that reason, though, that the seer assumed Falkner knew more about the city (Gold could show him around ~school~ ). So who better than the bird master, to show him around the foreign place. The weekend seemed like a suitable time to arrange the visit.
They had traveled into the city and found themselves at a small park nestled within the big city. A little safe haven that reminded the both of them of the National Park in Johto. It wasn’t nearly as big as National Park, and there was obvious doubt that there was a bug contest held, but it was just as nice.
Though, somewhat dead since it was still winter. Irrelevant facts.
Morty held his hands behind his back as they continued to walk through the park. He looked up at the sky and gave an experimental sigh to see his breath puff in front of him. He looked back down at Falkner. “So, I think I managed to go without asking something essential. How have you been, Falkner?”

I care about the Bug Catching Contest when Hayato needs food :^Db
He nodded in approval of his own simple reply. Falkner knew Morty liked to press on when it came to one-word answers, however, so he felt inclined to elaborate.
"Now that winter break is over, I can plan to start my class tomorrow. Aerial attacks and related topics. I had practiced my own fighting ability for this class, it's something I look forward to."
Man, he sounded boring. Or focused. Probably both.
He was however, keenly aware of the nostalgia about the park. It certainly reminded him of the National Park; he would enjoy feeding the bird Pokemon there on occasion
and not feeding them with the bug Pokemon in there.Bugsy would be so dissapoint :'|
He nodded with a small hum in response. That's right, classes had started. How fun. "You're always so prepared; it's admirable," a pause. "I'm sitting in on your class tomorrow then." Not that it was a question, Morty would be attending whether Falkner liked it or not.
If it weren't so cold, maybe they could have released their pokemon. They would have enjoyed the fresh air. "I wonder if any other Johto leaders will join us~" it was an offhand question.
That's why he hangs out in Viridian Forest u_u
The handsome bird master just smiled back at Morty's non-question. "Of course you can come, I'd never have any objection. I'd probably attend your classes just the same." He always did enjoy Morty's storytelling ability.
He put his hands in his coat(!) pockets. Winter weather was none too kind on his traditional garb, he had to settle for more casual fare today. Falkner went to the subject of gym leaders.
"There have been a lot of gym leaders coming in lately. The wave makes me a bit curious. I just hope there's people out there ready and able to take over gym responsibilities for them." Hearing of Erika joining was more news to this effect. And Misty too, and she showed interest in his classes as well.

"That's good. I'd like it very much if you did. I hope I've got some that you haven't heard though." Ecruteak and Violet City were both fairly traditional cities; he was sure many a legend had already been heard from one to the other. Morty breathed again and laughed softly at the sight and then Falkner's addition to the conversation.
"They're all responsible," mostly. "I think it would be good to go back every once in a while to take challenges personally, though." They could probably manage that at this school.
no subject
Ah idle conversation. Falkner really didn't mind it, he hadn't had chances to share much with Morty in a while.
Out of the blue, Falkner went to inquire about another old friend of Morty's. "How's Eusine? Still out looking for Suicune?"
no subject
Morty stopped short for a second. Blinked and then laughed a little awkwardly. "I haven't seen him in some time, but if he weren't I'd be concerned." He thought about it for a second. "Did you two ever happen to meet?"
no subject
He looked to Morty intently, head a bit tilted in curiosity, "We hadn't met, but I had heard of his track record before. Father spoke of him on scant occasion, and then of course you." He did feel a bit sorry for the subject change, perhaps it was the nostalgia of the park that brought back questions and answers from Johto that he had.
no subject
Which was a polite way of saying 'he's nuts and everyone knows.' What a friend to have.
"Of course, of course. He's an ... interesting guy, I'm not sure if you would get along, though." Morty shrugged. Oh dear, he hoped he hadn't talked about him too much. And the park certainly was bringing back memories. It was nice.
no subject
"Not a big deal I suppose, just a curiosity." I.E., steer clear of Eusine.

And then there was awkward silence.
no subject
A small breeze played past the two.
no subject
It sure was cold.
Yeap.
Morty wrinkled his nose and pulled out the two pokeballs he kept with him. There was a bright red light and suddenly to Gengars appeared and slipped around on the wet ground in font of them. They cackled together, eyeing Morty and Falkner deviously.

Falkner knew of these two well; they were Morty's most trusted Pokemon and it was to be expected they were to be brought with him to the Academy. But did they have to be brought out -here- and -now-?
"Well...I see you brought your Pokemon with you." Falkner spoke flatly.

The seer lifted himself back up and dusted off his pants. "Like I said, they'd be very bitter with me - even if I just left them in the dorm." He watched them carefully as they circled around the two, red eyes watching them as well. What a couple of vultures.
no subject
Oh and did those two know Falkner pretty well.
He sighed and turned to Morty. "I guess this is their version of having a fun time." He then kept a cautious eye on them "How have they been behaving since you arrived?"
no subject
" I ...suppose... " A drawn response. "Oh, fairly well. They like jumping on the bed, though, and creeping through the hallways." It would be hard to keep an eye on them during classes if they weren't in their balls.
no subject
He did indeed eye them and they were looking around the snow suspiciously. This could mean...wait, why could he only see one Gengar?
no subject
The one that was still dancing around on the floor, still eyeballing the snow, proved to be a very good distraction as the other appeared out of nowhere and suddenly WHOOSH. Slush. All over Falkner. The other Gengar took its cue and pelted Falkner with a couple sloppily made snowballs.
And it all happened so fast, all Morty could do was blink.
"Ah ..."

"Oh you two just did not do that..." He shook a fist, his pride hurt (and somehow probably his family honor), he took out Hayato's Pokeball and sent him out angrily. "Come Hayato! Show these two troublemakers a real snowfight!"
His trusted Pidgeot came out with its trademark cry and started to fly around the two Gengar, flapping its wings with such force to create Gusts at the nearby snow.
no subject
Ohp. And there was Hayato.
Ohp. And now he was sending snow everywhere. The two gym leaders were probably going to get sprayed with even more in the crossfire.
Because in response to the new challenger, the two Gengar put on their challenger faces and started forming more snowballs. As soon as they were formed, they were promptly chucked back at Hayato. With force.
And the occasional bad aim.
no subject
Falkner was too busy trying to get snow off him to bark out orders but Hayato figured that he was out to put those pesky Gengar in line; it readied another round of Gusts which seemed to really spray snow everywhere.
no subject
The snowball fight continued between the pokemon, even though both Gengar had sufficiently been covered in snow. Not even bothering to shake it off they paddled their hands into the snow, like a child would in the pool, to spread snow everywhere.
