Racing Club - Luigi Circuit!

Who: Wave and the Racing Club
What: Racing!
Where: Luigi Circuit!
When: Backdated to Saturday the 28th
Warnings: R for ROAD RAGE

Everything was ready. The track was booked, everyone had arrived, and they were finally prepared to go after all these weeks. Luigi Circuit. In her research of racetrack possibilities, this one stood out in her mind as a perfect place to get them started. She knew a lot of race courses already, but most of them were geared towards Extreme Gear riding. Normal vehicles wouldn't get very far at all, and besides, they were for pros. But this seemed like a nice and simple spot so that even the inexperienced racers could get a chance to shine. Nice and picturesque spot in the Mushroom Kingdom, that she was able to secure by asking Daisy for a favour, who in turn called up Peach and arranged the meeting spot.

With everyone there, Wave greeted them. "All right, welcome to our first actual race! We've got the track here all day, so what we're going to do first is some practice laps, just to get familiar with the course and let you all try out your vehicles on the road. Then when everyone's ready we'll have a three lap race around the track. We'll get started in just a moment, but first, a word from our club advisor, Professor Falcon!"

"Like I haven't head that before." He growled, rocketing from the starting line. He had been pressing A repeatedly through the whole countdown, you see.

It was almost anticlimactic how slow the go-karts were. He sighed heavily and put it in gear, shooting forward and pulling up alongside his rival. He wasn't sure how many hits these things could take, but he'd never know if he didn't try. Banking hard, he slammed his kart into Goroh's as they rounded the first turn.

"WATCH THE , YOU !" Goroh yelled back, shaking his fist for maximum effect...until he was pushed into a ? block. Falcon raced ahead of him.

"WHAT?"

Suddenly there were three red shells hovering around his kart.

"UHHH..."

Falcon was so busy laughing at shoving Goroh out of the way that he almost didn't see the question-mark block until it was too late. For an instant he thought it was something solid to run into and swerved, but the side of his kart caught the rotating block, shattering it as if it was made of nothing.

It felt like it was made of nothing, but all of a sudden, Falcon had shells hovering around his kart too. Not red like Goroh's though. Green.

"The hell are these?"

[identity profile] fist-of-win.livejournal.com 2009-12-07 07:34 am (UTC)(link)
Well it didn't seem too hard, as Goroh finally notice the small flashing button and pressed it. Instantly a turtle shell launched itself and zoomed over to Falcon's Go-Kart, making one of the shells shatter.

"Well, this is interesting."

He slammed into another floating box and...

Speed Mushroom. Remaining : 3. Unusable until Red Paratroopa shells have been depleted.

"This is hella crazy."
raced_god: (It's a trap!)

[personal profile] raced_god 2009-12-08 04:42 am (UTC)(link)
Luckily, one of his shells blocked one of Goroh's, but hell if Falcon knew why. Racing with items? Items were for sissies who couldn't drive. At the moment, however, he saw no need to deploy his remaining two shells, mostly because it seemed like they'd deflect anything his rival through at him.

He hoped, anyway.

Falcon veered and screeched around a turn, figuring that if the rainbow blocks were going to be right there in the middle of the road, he might as well make use of them.

...A little...bomb? With feet? Well then.

[identity profile] fist-of-win.livejournal.com 2009-12-08 10:03 am (UTC)(link)
They entered a tight corner. Goroh tried to fire one of his shells, but it broke the other again. This was useless. He only had one left. He hugged the asphalt as much as he could, making his turn sharp. There was an odd clinking and he swore he could see some multicolored smoke coming from behind him.

Suddenly, whatever he had done had caused the kart to let out a steam of bluish fire and he inched right next to Falcon. With the students much father away, he screamed over the loud motors.

"You're going down!"
raced_god: (oh god here I go gonna fall over)

Falcon was thrown forward as Goroh rammed him, and he turned his wheel towards his rival, pushing back as hard as the other driver was pushing him. The go-karts rattled and the Captain vaguely wondered if they were even built to take this kind of damage.

He knew, however, that something had to give and they couldn't stay neck and neck like this forever. As they came out of the turn, Falcon fired off his remaining shell--just for the hell of it, really. He wanted to see what on earth it was supposed to do.

[identity profile] fist-of-win.livejournal.com 2009-12-12 09:31 am (UTC)(link)
The Green shell took off the racetrack and...didn't stop.

"Well these are useless," he told Falcon, as he trailed a little bit off. Doing the same as the Captain, he released his final shell which...was going straight to the Captain's Kart? "...I guess Red means they home in on you."

He could get used to this. F-Zero with weapons could be a glorious thing.

That was completely and utterly useless.

It was made even worse when Goroh's red shell connected and he spun out briefly, cursing these god-damned items. When his foot slammed on the accelerator after the short bout of floundering, Falcon knew he couldn't afford a slip-up like that again.

Goroh wanted to play with items, huh? Fine. They could play with items. Falcon launched his little walking bomb as hard as he possibly could.

[identity profile] fist-of-win.livejournal.com 2009-12-13 04:34 am (UTC)(link)
He was winning! OF COURSE HE WAS WINNING, he was much better at this than Falcon was.

Until he saw that little bomb. Too small. Too late.

If it was possible for a kart to fly into the air, it just did. Goroh spied Falcon speeding by as he continued to move upwards in the air. This is going to be painful landing. Thankfully, the spin out vehicle landed back unto the asphalt...on the right side. Huh.

What sort of seemingly impossible force of nature was at work, he couldn't guess, but Goroh saw an opportunity then. He was so far away, and Falcon needed a lesson to be taught.

"Let's try these speed mushrooms."

So he did and...holy shit!

The kart exploded in fire and he shot out like a rocket.

"EAT MY , FALCON!"
raced_god: (RRRRAAAGE FACE)

[personal profile] raced_god 2009-12-16 06:35 am (UTC)(link)
And eat it he did, at least for a few seconds.

He hated these items. He hated them so much. It was like...it didn't matter how good you were at racing, if you were randomly given the right item, you could win it through dumb luck. That was not what Falcon valued.

The extra anger perhaps fueled his next flooring of the gas pedal as he shifted gears and game up behind Goroh--only to ram his back bumper as hard as he could.

[identity profile] fist-of-win.livejournal.com 2009-12-16 08:55 am (UTC)(link)
Oh Falcon. Didn't you realize the wonders of go-karting also meant that being pushed from behind meant the person got a speed boost? Besides, those weapons would allow even someone like Antonio to win, and that was saying a lot.

But all he got was another manly laugh as Goroh's second mushroom was used.

Only a lap and a half left!
raced_god: (aarrghhbhlblglblghlk)

[personal profile] raced_god 2009-12-16 05:04 pm (UTC)(link)
No Goroh. Falcon did not know that. He did not know that because these were goddamn magical mushroom-powered go-karts for Christ's sake.

He sped through another row of rainbow blocks as he tried to catch up with Goroh and his goddamn magical mushrooms. Falcon didn't know what the lightning bolt meant, but it had to do something. The Captain slammed on the accelerator as he released the item.

[identity profile] fist-of-win.livejournal.com 2009-12-17 05:02 am (UTC)(link)
And suddenly Goroh was very tiny. Or the whole world had grown around him.

Oh gods oh gods oh gods, this was insane.
raced_god: (I lol'd.)

[personal profile] raced_god 2009-12-21 03:06 am (UTC)(link)
Oh God.

Oh God it made Goroh tiny.

This was the funniest thing in the whole entire world. And now that he was tiny, it meant Falcon could catch up. Not a moment too soon. With only one lap left, the Captain pulled along side his tiny rival, trying very hard to concentrate on the race and not laugh as he zipped past.

It lasted for about ten hellish seconds and then Goroh was returned to normal. Falcon had long passed him.

What the gods had that been, he never wanted to have that feeling again. As he continued to speed by, the kart had started to shake from all the damage it had subsided, but it still moved As he continued to push forward, there was another powerup...thing and he drove in it.

It was a strange blueish shell this time, not unlike the color of Falcon's car. The asshole was nowhere to be seen, but whatever. He simply fired it and watched with amazement as it flew off, over the obstacles like some sort of crazed homing missle.

Final stretch. He had this in the bag. Sure, it was maybe a little due to a lucky item, but he'd convince himself that it was all skill. Of course it was all skill.

He didn't hear it at first, just a whistle over the (rather pathetic) roar of the go-kart's entrance, but soon enough it grew louder and suddenly there was an explosion of light. His vehicle spun and skidded and he was thrown forward in several of the most confusing seconds ever.

"Fuck." He hissed, struggling to regain control of his kart before Goroh beat him to the end.

[identity profile] fist-of-win.livejournal.com 2009-12-23 08:01 am (UTC)(link)
Too late. Goroh and his go-kart passed by him near the final part of the race, and without anymore item caches to go in, he knew Falcon wouldn't be able to catch up! Victory would taste so sweet!

Unfortunately it smelled like a fire hazard. He looked up and noticed his engine was on fire. And not the good kind of boost power. "Shit shit shit shit!"

Stop. Drop. Do a barrel roll. Goroh jumped out just as the entire thing EXPLODED into a huge fireball HOLY SHIT these things were not built very touch. He watched the flames go up and sighed. How annoying.
raced_god: (You people are all very silly.)

[personal profile] raced_god 2010-01-04 11:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Falcon pulled ahead once more, but victory was short lived, as it soon became apparent that these go-karts were not exactly meant for the kind of driving they'd been doing.

No sooner had Goroh's kart caught on fire than Falcon's went out in a much less explosive way. The engine sputtered and smoked and the tires screeched until he was forced to pull over because the thing refused to go. He growled to himself, the finish line just out of reach.

Whatever. This had been a stupid idea to begin with. But he stood and trotted over to Goroh, watching the spectacular fireball. "Junk."

[identity profile] fist-of-win.livejournal.com 2010-01-06 12:08 pm (UTC)(link)
Well at least he had gone out in style, unlike Falcon. Both men were silent for a few seconds as they watched the fire going on.

"Makes me appreciate all the car building rules they enforce."
raced_god: (Can't hear you over how great I am)

[personal profile] raced_god 2010-01-11 05:06 am (UTC)(link)
"We have car building rules?"

A glorious bonfire indeed.

"Think they'll charge us for this?"

Not that it mattered, they were both filthy rich. But still. It was the principle of the thing. If worse came to worse they could always argue that the karts were pieces of crap in the first place. Either that or the F-Zero racers were too hardcore for such little vehicles to handle.

[identity profile] fist-of-win.livejournal.com 2010-01-30 09:56 am (UTC)(link)
Goroh shrugged. "Do we really care about money?"

Honestly, it was a little bit of both.
raced_god: (Word up G)

[personal profile] raced_god 2010-02-01 02:21 am (UTC)(link)
Falcon thought about that for a moment. "Not really, no."

He let out a long sigh and then started to walk back to the sidelines. "I'm not cleaning it up."
