Walk In Their Shoes! Surviving The Weekend In The Streets!

Characters: Daroach and students
What: The field trip begins
Where: Final Destination City
When: June 13th, Saturday morning
Rating: PG-13

Daroach stood near the exit of Final Destination City’s Subway Terminal, using his scepter as a cane to rest on. The students will arrive any minute now; soon they will venture out in the streets and live the way he once did throughout the weekend.

The mouse took a glance at the wall clock to check the time. It’s 9:45am. They have 15 minutes to show up. Until then, he will relax and enjoy the scenery.

(Okay, here’s what we can do to make this work. Everyone will post at the Subway Terminal thread where you can interact with other characters. Eventually, Daroach will notice everyone and will give out the go ahead to begin the field trip.

From that point on, you can post on any of the following threads where your char can hang out and do whatever. Other chars can join in and they can talk and such. However, if the convo takes too long and if Daroach is nearby, he will step in and break it up. He won’t be too harsh on certain threads, like if you’re standing in line to get food in the Soup Kitchen or are inside buildings like the library.

If you want your char to do something elsewhere that isn’t in any of the threads, feel free to make a separate one and do your thing. When Sunday morning comes, meet up at the Subway Terminal and Daroach will end the field trip. If you have any questions, feel free to ask. I’ll do my best to answer them.

Much love to Jim for helping me out with this, cause I really don‘t know what I‘m doing, lol.)

An alley! Perfect! There were sure to be trashcans in an alley! Lots of them!

He opened the first one he came across - empty. Shucks.

He opened the second one he came across - a piping hot hamburger still in the wrapper! He put it in his inventory put it in bib of his overalls somehow.

He opened the third one he came across - a piping hot hamburger still in the wrapper! He put it in his overalls.

He opened the fourth one he came across - empty. Darn.

This continued on until he had in his possession 5 piping hot hamburgers, 3 very hot cups of coffee, 2 piping hot double burgers, 2 crisp and salty bags of fries, a still perfectly wrapped calorie stick, an ice cold can of fruit juice, and a fresh and aromatic bread roll. All from trashcans.

Not a bad haul! The front bib of his overalls was getting pretty full he felt that he only had one more space in his inventory so he felt that it was time to go to that department store!

This living on the streets thing was pretty easy.

Knuckles grinned, wandering down the back alley behind his favorite green grocer and wholefood market. Despite his red coloration and light clothing, he was stealthy and quiet with an obvious intent and skill behind his movements.

There was a dumpster out back and it was this veritable Aladdins cave of Vegetables that he was headed for. He slipped under the plastic lid, propping it open with an apple as he needed a little light to see.

He avoided the old bananas.... but there were plenty of super-soft old Kiwi in there that he pulled in half and chugged like they were miniature fruit smoothies. He gobbled grapes and munched on mandarin oranges. The advantage of this place? They would only sell the best, and so the second best was thrown out directly. And Knuckles was loving every sweet, fruity bite of it.

Slippy strolled around until he found an open dumpster near a pizzeria

"Here we go!" he chirped as he rolled up his sleeves and climbed in and began to dig around before coming up with a couple of pizza crusts and and a piece of abc gum. Even better, he found a broken microwave and some stainless steel utensils.

"This thing should bring a great price at the nearest pawn shop!" he said cheerfully while placing the pizza crusts in the lining of his baseball cap.
"Once I fix it that is."

He plopped himself down. Using dinner utensils as tools was a stretch but Slippy was confident he could get this thing running in no time.

After Hoji had gone to the soup kitchen, she headed for this very alley with a bowl of food in hand, as well as a plastic cup of water. She plopped down near one of the trashcans and sipped a little on her juice, glancing back and forth at the area around her.

And that's when she noticed one of the trashcans looked quite full and was emitting quite the enticing aroma. Hmm, that smelled... familiar. It smelled like... like...

... like MEAT!

Hoji left her food and cup on the ground and bounded up to her feet, making a beeline for the trash can and sticking her hands straight into it. Having explored on her own a lot before, she was used to getting a little filthy.

She stayed there for a while, digging around, and after a while, came out of it with an old leftover chicken breast and a couple of old fruits. Not a big deal, yeah, but anything that would help would be worth eating! Besides, what with her natural Bulbmin ability to eat raw meats without getting sick, she didn't think this old chicken breast would do too much to her to harm her, so why not?

She took it with her and munched on it, as well as the fruit. She decided to eat some broccoli florets from the soup kitchen food, too, but not too much. She only ate enough to keep herself a little satisfied for now. She wanted to save some more food for later, too!

She stood back up and stretched, deciding to go exploring some more. She took the food and her nearly empty cup of water (she had been sipping on it for a while now) and headed out of the alley for now.
