Basis of Mechanics #1!

Characters: Smithy and his students, anyone else who wishes to join!
What: Basis of Mechanics, #1
Where: A large classroom
When: Forward-dated to Tuesday, June 9th (because of my finals on Tuesday and Wednesday D: )
Rating: PG

As any of the students walked in, they would be greeted by a 'Harrumph!' from the teacher, Smithy. He had stood at the back of the classroom, the gold dome-shaped Smelter hanging on the wall beside him.

"You are here to learn the basis of Mechanics," said Smithy. "This will be unlike anything you have ever experienced in this school. Anything and everything that you create will come to life. The only thing that will help you... is your brain."

At that, Smelter spat a bit of red goo on the table in front of Smithy.

"This is what you will be working with." Smithy began to walk across the room, looking at the students who had walked in by then. "With this, you will create whatever your heart desires. It may look weird, but do not fear it. Observe!"

He then walked back, and started hammering on the goo, smoke starting to come up around him, and once it cleared, it showed a Shyguy with a sword for legs - a Shyper.

"Do you see now what I mean!?" Smithy nearly roared. "There is no need to 'heat' this metal! There is no need to worry about doing anything but letting your mind take control of your hammer! ... I have put a sledgehammer on each of your desks. You must leave them on your desks as you leave."

"Also, you must fill out this form and turn it in to me with your assignment:

Name:

Grade:

What is your dream? (That can be accomplished with Mechanics):

What do you aspire to be when you get out of school?:

Do you already specialize in mechanics or anything pertaining to it?:

Anthing else to add?:

He then had a glint in his eye. "I do remember that some of you had projects from previous classes, like Autoshop, however today you will not be working on any of those. You will be making something on your own - you have until the end of class to make something. Start simple; there is no need to get complex on the first day! You will be graded on how well it is designed. Do not worry about how well your artistic skills are! Let your mind take over! See what you can do!"

"Any questions may be asked of me before the assignment begins."

((OOC: You can do the assignment one of three ways - if you want, you can draw or sprite the final version (but everything it can create is monochrome, and to get color would have to be spraypainted. Otherwise, you can just describe in words what the student creates. As long as I can get an image of what it looks like, it's fine.))

"Yup. My dad and built the arwing I use alongside the Landmaster. But he and I haven't mass produced it yet. So far the only one we have is being stored at The Great Fox."

Keep talking Slippy.

"The Great Fox?"

"Yeah. Y'see I'm part of a mercenary team and the Great Fox is our mother ship. It serves as our base and our home. Before I started attending here, I handle all of the Great Fox's repairs!"

Wow, he wasn't as boring as she originally thought him to be! Sorry Slippy. Even if it was hard to imagine him being part of a mercenary team, Lash could totally respect that.

"Soooo. The Great Fox. Is it around here somewhere?"

Slippy shook his head. "No. It's floating around somewhere in the Lylat System. I don't know where exactly. I haven't called the guys in a while."

Oh.

"Well that sucks. You...still have your Arwing or one of those Landmasters here...right?"

"I have the Arwing in storage in town. As for the Landmaster, it's back in the Great Fox...but I could probably get ROB to teleport it here if I really needed it for some reason."

He then gave Lash a stare. "Waaaait a minute. Why are you askin' this anyway?"

No sense beating around the bush.

"Eh, no big deal, I just wanted to look at them. I've already worked on the Arwings before, during the war, but you guys barely brought out those tanks!"

"Show 'em to you...I guess I could show you my Arwing but..."

Slippy gave Lash an uncomfortable look. He wasn't sure if Fox would let him bring the Landmaster here even if temporary. Granted, Slippy had been the one who built it and he was the one who always repaired it. Plus knowing Lash's love for tanks, he could tell she was dying to see it.

"I guess I could show you the Landmaster too..."
thewunderkind: (OMFG! For real?)

YESSSS.

She was going to steal the plans steal the plans to that tank if it was the last thing she would do. Maybe if she mixed it with a Neotank, it could create something truly devastating...

"Great!" she was all smiles. "That would be awesome! Maybe I could help with a few modifications on it too!"

GDit, Lash! First Wolf, now you? Do I have to get a patent?

"M-Modifications!?" Okay, maybe telling her about the Landmaster was not a such a good idea after all.

"Oh, I'm just sure I could increase your firepower without damaging the flux and performance!" she offered. "It's just my way of saying thank you for showing it to me?"

And stealing your ideas, Slippy.

"Um, I guess that's okay. When do ya' want to meet?"

Poor Slippy. He had no clue what was in store for him.

"How about on the 11th? I don't have many classes that day, so..."

Poor, poor Slippy.

"Okay then," replied Slippy. "I'll see ya' then."
