Basis of Mechanics #1!
Characters: Smithy and his students, anyone else who wishes to join!
What: Basis of Mechanics, #1
Where: A large classroom
When: Forward-dated to Tuesday, June 9th (because of my finals on Tuesday and Wednesday D: )
Rating: PG
As any of the students walked in, they would be greeted by a 'Harrumph!' from the teacher, Smithy. He had stood at the back of the classroom, the gold dome-shaped Smelter hanging on the wall beside him.
"You are here to learn the basis of Mechanics," said Smithy. "This will be unlike anything you have ever experienced in this school. Anything and everything that you create will come to life. The only thing that will help you... is your brain."
At that, Smelter spat a bit of red goo on the table in front of Smithy.
"This is what you will be working with." Smithy began to walk across the room, looking at the students who had walked in by then. "With this, you will create whatever your heart desires. It may look weird, but do not fear it. Observe!"
He then walked back, and started hammering on the goo, smoke starting to come up around him, and once it cleared, it showed a Shyguy with a sword for legs - a Shyper.
"Do you see now what I mean!?" Smithy nearly roared. "There is no need to 'heat' this metal! There is no need to worry about doing anything but letting your mind take control of your hammer! ... I have put a sledgehammer on each of your desks. You must leave them on your desks as you leave."
"Also, you must fill out this form and turn it in to me with your assignment:
Name:
Grade:
What is your dream? (That can be accomplished with Mechanics):
What do you aspire to be when you get out of school?:
Do you already specialize in mechanics or anything pertaining to it?:
Anthing else to add?:
He then had a glint in his eye. "I do remember that some of you had projects from previous classes, like Autoshop, however today you will not be working on any of those. You will be making something on your own - you have until the end of class to make something. Start simple; there is no need to get complex on the first day! You will be graded on how well it is designed. Do not worry about how well your artistic skills are! Let your mind take over! See what you can do!"
"Any questions may be asked of me before the assignment begins."
((OOC: You can do the assignment one of three ways - if you want, you can draw or sprite the final version (but everything it can create is monochrome, and to get color would have to be spraypainted. Otherwise, you can just describe in words what the student creates. As long as I can get an image of what it looks like, it's fine.))

You're only a freshman, you have four years to decide what you want to be. Perhaps this class will help you in some way, harrumph?"
Smithy had his normal gruff look on the entire time.
((P.S. When you get a chance, come on AIM. I want to talk to you about something.))

Re: Any questions?
"Um.... Sir?" she questioned Smithy with a nervous tone in her voice. "You... you want us to make something out of vomit?"
Disgusting as that they sound, Ribbon can't help but think that's the red goo Smelter had spitted out.
Re: Any questions?
Describe or draw/sprite your student's outcome of the project!
Re: Describe or draw/sprite your student's outcome of the project!
And this was what resulted, in monochrome, of course:
A replica of the head of this man.
Gee, didn't this look familiar to him.*
... How the HECK did I do that? WHY did I do that?!

Orange Kid struggled to lift the hammer, before bringing it down. He kept doing this.
When he was finished, it looked like... a Suporma with legs.
The Suporma with legs sang the song 'Ode to Orange Kid.' Then it broke.
"...Sir, your materials for making these things are of poor quality. There is no other reason my amazing creation would have broken."

Knuckles hammered away at his goo, hitting it pretty hard at first to get a feel for how it worked and the sort of material it really was. Once he was satisfied, his own object started to take shape. What came to be was a very nice looking Octopus.
I just won't tell anyone it was supposed to be a bunny...

Hesitantly at first, he hammered at the blob. Then when it didn't explode in his face or splatter across the room, he picked up speed and power.
The result was a miniature replica of the Golden Gate Bridge. Jeff had no idea how he, or rather the goop, did that, but whatever. He'd take the grade regardless.

Re: Describe or draw/sprite your student's outcome of the project!
Exactly how he invents is still a mystery but suffice to say it isn't like this.As he hit the metal he could see it slowly shaping into something then he'd hit it again and whatever it had been turning into would change and he'd be making something else. But it never finished. It just kept going on and on and on, refusing to stay as one thing or another, the end result being Apple Kid had invented an amorphous blob. He didn't need to invent that.
This wasn't working very well.

It didn't take too long for Lash to finish working on the miniature Neotank.
"That was easy, tee hee hee!"
