Max's Powerlifting Competition: It's Happening. It's Already Here.
Who: Max, Powerlifters, Spectators
What: A Powerlifting Competition
Where: The Weight Room
When: Saturday, Feb. 7th
Warnings: I make no promises about anything that transpires.
The Saturday of the Powerlifting competition was finally here. Max had prepared for it with his utmost. There was a station where competitors would sign in, a station for competitors to sign in, a station for competitors to get their free t-shirt, a station for competitors to get protein bars and electrolyte beverages, three squat racks set up for use, three deadlifting platforms, and three bench press stations, all waiting to be used.

It was beautiful. Life was beautiful. Lifting was beautiful. Everything was beautiful.
((There are five weight classes which had actual amounts of weight attached to them but which, for the purposes of this log, are heretofore referred to as:
1. Small Child (aka Featherweight)
2. What Should Pass For Normal Woman (aka Lightweight)
3. What Should Pass For Normal Dude (aka Welterweight)
4. Bara Dad (aka Middleweight)
5. Character Chris Plays. (aka Heavyweight)
This isn't to say that a male character cannot be in the second tier, or a female character in another tier, these are just to give ideas. Little Mac might be in the second tier. Hagakure would be in the third, even though he is technically a Character Chris Plays. You get the idea.
In the 'competition' thread if you could kindly rate your character on two criteria (Strengt/raw power and Weightlifting Practice/knowledge of form), with a 1 being 'poor/untrained' and 5 being 'expert level' I'm going to use a d6 dice rolling system to figure out how well your character lifts, based on how many ranks they have in these categories. Yes, I'm a nerd, thank you.
Scale:

You're all beautiful people, and I love you.))

Check In
Re: Check In
Except wow, Max was actually huge. Byrne was muscular, sure, but he could not come close to the raw bulk of this guy. Was he not human? Byrne's ego was now coming into question and his manliness was being challenged, so he was not very happy, giving a rather sharp glare toward Max.
"What class are you competing in?"

Re: Check In
He was clearly in the Bara Dad weight class. Muscles upon muscles. Though, he tended not to use the weight room often.
....he didn't much care for the T'shirt but considering he spent most of his time topless, let's not take that as a sign that the shirt is hideous
ly wonderful.Re: Check In

Re: Check In
Also known as "the list of what Chris has to think about every time he squats, even after 3 years"
That's a lot of things.
Squats can be dangerous. My workout partner had spasms from not being hydrated enough yesterday.
I hope for his speedy recovery!
It was just spasms, he didn't throw his back out. He was fine five minutes later.
Who knows what the long term side effects might be.
If the past is any indication, being a smug bastard, but that's just my estimation.
Re: Check In
He felt this was entirely unfair. By the standards of his race, he was actually kind of tall.
And how many people of his size were even going to enter!? Was he going to be the only competitor in his class!? That was no fun. Except in that it meant he was bound to get a share of those hundreds of $$$ promised in prizes.

Sonny was super excited to be here today. He'd been on the poster. He had to put on a good show for everyone who saw the poster so they wouldn't be disappointed.
"I really love the shirts you made!"
He was very firmly entrenched within the Character Chris Plays class, with great swathes of muscular girth present and correct in all directions.

Behold also: Black Shadow's muscles.
And while you're beholding: Black Shadow's annoyed face as he looks at the...unusual t-shirt.
"...Must I?"

Re: Check In
While Vinnie wasn't on Max's grueling military training regime anymore, he still came a long way in five years - all the way from normal looking dude to the cusp of a bara dad level physique. Though considering the variety in ability at the school, the weight classes seemed like there were mostly a formality. The Venusaur was mostly there to see if he could beat his personal best.
Whatever that was. Also, because Max was his friend and would never let him hear the end of it if he didn't. Hello, Max. "How's the turnout so far?"

Gordon heralds himself with that monosyllabic greeting as the blue-haired man shuffles around registration papers.
"...Helluva turnout. I'm impressed." He adds.

Knuckles was sure to be found chugging some of those bad boys inbetween rounds or heats or reps or whatever it was that you did in this sport.

Come talk to her? She's either simply idling by, watching the event with interest, or in total awe of all the humongous weights in the room.

A Crown of Glory
"For the Bench press, Byrne had a two-point-five times bodyweight press, which is pretty impressive. He wins the 12-month supply of protein powder and $50."
"And finally, for the squat, we had..." Max's voice cracked. "We had, Vinnie, squat three, three and a half times his body weight and," Max had no shirt to cry into anymore. He was shirtless as the day he was born, although somewhat larger than that day, marginally more terrifying. He had to go on. "And he wins the protein powder and the $50."
Max looked out at all of the lifters. "What a day. What a day, huh."
