Max's Powerlifting Competition: It's Happening. It's Already Here.
Who: Max, Powerlifters, Spectators
What: A Powerlifting Competition
Where: The Weight Room
When: Saturday, Feb. 7th
Warnings: I make no promises about anything that transpires.
The Saturday of the Powerlifting competition was finally here. Max had prepared for it with his utmost. There was a station where competitors would sign in, a station for competitors to sign in, a station for competitors to get their free t-shirt, a station for competitors to get protein bars and electrolyte beverages, three squat racks set up for use, three deadlifting platforms, and three bench press stations, all waiting to be used.

It was beautiful. Life was beautiful. Lifting was beautiful. Everything was beautiful.
((There are five weight classes which had actual amounts of weight attached to them but which, for the purposes of this log, are heretofore referred to as:
1. Small Child (aka Featherweight)
2. What Should Pass For Normal Woman (aka Lightweight)
3. What Should Pass For Normal Dude (aka Welterweight)
4. Bara Dad (aka Middleweight)
5. Character Chris Plays. (aka Heavyweight)
This isn't to say that a male character cannot be in the second tier, or a female character in another tier, these are just to give ideas. Little Mac might be in the second tier. Hagakure would be in the third, even though he is technically a Character Chris Plays. You get the idea.
In the 'competition' thread if you could kindly rate your character on two criteria (Strengt/raw power and Weightlifting Practice/knowledge of form), with a 1 being 'poor/untrained' and 5 being 'expert level' I'm going to use a d6 dice rolling system to figure out how well your character lifts, based on how many ranks they have in these categories. Yes, I'm a nerd, thank you.
Scale:

You're all beautiful people, and I love you.))

"Aye, Darkstalkers tournaments. They're fighting tournaments in my world. One was set up by an alien Sun creature who wanted to devour the Earth but wanted a little sport first. The second was set up a by a Demon who wanted to destroy all souls except those he decided were worthy to live on inside one merged soul."
Jon drank a little more water and capped the bottle.
"Myself and a larger group of Darkstalkers... ah, that's what Monsters are called, in my world... fought one another to gain access to those two fellows. I fought and defeated them both."
no subject
Chiyo stared.
"Jon?" she said, looking completely stunned. "You're incredible, you know that right? Are you sure you're not a superhero?"
no subject
"...ah. Well. I'd not go quite that far."
He cleared his throat, sad that he had to shatter that illusion for her but knowing it was the right thing to do.
"One thing you can always count on from me, Chiyo, is honesty. I wasn't in it for entirely altruistic reasons. I defeated the Pyron, the Sun alien, in hopes that surpassing my physical limits would cure my Werewolf's curse. And it did... for a time."
He remembered greeting the rising sun, feeling like a new man. Clean and bright and like he might make a place for himself in the world of Humans again.
An illusion. A pleasant one. But temporary.
"The second? Jedah. Well, he decided my soul was worthy of joining the others he'd hand picked inside his merged soul. I wasn't interested in losing my individuality, so, I thrashed him. Saving everyone else in the world's souls was a pleasant side effect."
He shuffled uncomfortably in place. "So, a self-interested fellow who happened to do some good while serving himself? Yes. Superhero? Nothing quite so noble."
no subject
"Your Werewolf's curse... do you still hope to cure it?" Honestly, albeit probably selfishly, she liked the fact Jon could turn into a werewolf. It was hard to imagine how they would have befriended each other and have the relationship they did today if he was a normal human. But... as with most, if not all, curses, Chiyo had to think that it must have come with a lot of suffering. Did he still suffer from it even now?
"And well..." she laid a hand on his arm and continued to smile that gentle smile she always wore with him. "I think everyone in some way is a self-interested fellow. A-And...."
Withdrawing her hand and holding them both behind her back, she looked at the floor as she tapped the tip of her foot against it.
"You may not be a superhero, but you're kind of like my savior."
no subject
He offered her a small smile. He'd mostly accepted it by now. He was glad that she had, too.
Though, at her last comment, he looked a little bashful. He never would have phrased it that way, of course. He was happy to have seen her confidence grow over the time they'd known one another but he wasn't sure he'd say he'd directly influenced it.
"I'm sure that whatever I've done for you, it's been your hard work that's made it pay off, little one." he said fondly, reaching out to take her shoulder and give it a little squeeze. "You've come a very, very long way from being the timid Vaporeon I first met at this school, and if I played a part in that, then I'm grateful."
He makes me want to call him "Papa Wolf"
"After the contest is over, do you have any plans? Maybe we can celebrate!" Whether he won or lost didn't matter. He worked hard, so that in itself deserved a reward. "My treat!"
aaaa that's super adorable XD
Normally, he wouldn't dream of letting anyone treat him to a meal as he preferred to pay for such things himself. But he didn't want to dent her confidence by refusing.
"Afterward, if you've a mind to, we could try ten pin bowling. That, should you wish to go, will be my treat."
That was far more reasonable.
no subject
"I'd love to try bowling. Can't say I'd be good at it though, but we'll just have to see!"
Get ready to see plenty of goose eggs and gutter balls, Jon.
"It's settled then. Dinner will be my treat and bowling will be yours. Okay? Do your best!"
no subject
He's not even kidding.
"That does sound settled - I'll catch up with you after the competition." he said, dabbing at his face with the towel and taking another sip of water. "...thanks again for these, Chiyo. You're a star."
no subject
"Okay! I'll see you later!" she waved and prepped herself to cheer him on later. It was going to take a lot of nerve....
