Dorm Log

Who: All of Smash.
What: Dorm log! Summertime special.
Where: Student and Teacher dorms, and quite possibly beyond campus.
When: Approximately the latter half of July to the earliest of Augusts (25th - 15th)
Warnings: YOU KNOW YOURSELVES

We all know our characters experience downtime after classes and their busy schedules, and this is a good venue for those kinds of miscellaneous dorm-shenanigans to take place. Not only does it give your characters the easy chance to meet new people in a laid-back environment, but it's a good mechanism for strengthening CR. It's easy!

Feel free to begin in any way you please! Plan with (a) fellow player(s) if you'd like! Or, set up a thread and wait for characters to bite! Just add a thread with the room number (and date/time, if it matters) and the characters that reside there (just for reference!). You do not have to use one character's thread as a dual-purpose for both characters if you do not want to. Doesn't have to be a dorm room, either, if you have something else in mind.

And don't forget: things are getting pretty freaky! Shadow bugs are still rife around the school and city, causing all kinds of trouble, but most significantly capable of cloning people and even objects. For the remainder of July, the dimensional lines are a little blurred and causing alternate universe versions of characters to show up. But something ever curiouser has started to show up on campus... Bubbles?

Subspace bubbles? They look kinda like the ones dotting the sky... Dare ye enter?

If you do, you'll find that it... just ends up being a portal to another part of the school. Sometimes they may lead you into some part of town. Weird! Hopefully it doesn't lead you anywhere embarrassing, like in the middle of a stage play or in the bathroom of the opposite sex. That's mortifying.

-------
7/27: Shadow bugs go wild and clone a bunch of office supplies. Do shadow bugs get bored or something? Beware of that stapler you're about to pick up... It might be a shadow bug clone! They're animate office supplies all around the school. At least it's easy to tell the difference between the real things and the animate ones, because the clones are purple. Unless, of course, your supplies are all purple. Then you're in a bind...er.

Also, they cloned the Kraken fountain and now it's come to life. Hope you brought some slippers.

8/1: You know those hazy purple-black pockets of subspace that keep showing up across the sky? Today, a humongous one swallowed up the sun completely. For almost all of the daylight hours, there will be a full-on solar eclipse. Aww, were you working on that golden tan? Too bad, buddy. You're gonna have to wait until tomorrow.

8/5: A herd of Towtow show up at the school overnight and stop to rest. They'll be there, napping all day with that peaceful look adorned on their faces. How cute! But you wouldn't want to see them angry... Maybe that's why you should be careful not to wake them up.

For reference, here are the rooming arrangements.

AND THEN, THE LIGHT RETURNS........ except not really. Melia is standing nearby, her elemental spirits floating around her giving off light. She's standing safely out of range of any flailing, but close enough for her ether spirits to buff Hajime with greater strength and stamina.

"Are you quite all right? You look exhausted!"
inspirethefire: like daaayum (So goddamn serious)

For just a fraction of a second, he felt well enough to take a deep breathand regain his composure. The buffs truly did feel like a godsend, in that instant. The moment passed, and he pressed on with his thrashing with new energy.

"MY FATIGUE IS NOTHING COMPARED TO THE NEED OF THE SUN! SO LONG AS THERE'S SPIRIT WITHIN ME, I'LL PRESS ON TO IGNITE THE LIGHT ONCE MORE! HYAAAAAH!"
birdlady: (gasp - And when the fires came)

Oh god he is literally going to die while she is standing there talking to him. Well, she can't have that, now can she. She raises one hand to command the ether around her.

"Accept this gift of healing!" Melia felt her own energy drain as she healed Hajime. Nobody was collapsing from exhaustion on her watch. "Now, what makes you think you can bring the sunlight back by, erm, yelling very loudly?"
inspirethefire: Add me to the blaze (Kindling for the fire)

She felt her energy leave her, and he watched it fade--a steady burn simmering down, to support his efforts. His determination redoubled over--he couldn't waste such a gift.

"I am able to channel willpower! By lending my strength to another, their spirit is maximized, and any feat can be overcome with ease! HYOOH!!"

He managed to incorporate a dramatic point to the sky in his dancing. "The sun is the ultimate life force! Without its blaze, no being can thrive! It's my sworn duty, as a support and protector to all people, to try and return all it's given to us! YAAAHHH!"

One guy giving back the energy of six billion. He never said it was likely, but a duty is a duty.

"Channel...?" Melia could hardly believe what she was hearing. He was almost exactly describing her own ether-channeling abilities! "But you are a Homs! With no weapon or tool to assist with channeling at that. This should not be possible..."

Even so, he could still use some help. "Oh, but- summon aqua!"

Another glowing orb manifested above her head, boosting the regenerative effect she was giving off.

"A what...?"

Just for a moment, he teetered on the edge of losing focus, startled by her words--her terms were unfamiliar, but she sounded as if she knew what he was talking about. Generally, he was used to a much more skeptical response.

"Ah, I--" He launched himself back into his routine. He couldn't get distracted from cheering by discussing the subject itself, especially with such power backing him up now!

"The body is but a vessel for the use of willpower as is! It's all the tool I need, as direct a connection with a spirit as possible!" He's very much a natural-living, no-enhancements spirit hippie on this sort of thing.
birdlady: (pensive - When I first saw you)

"That isn't how it works." Melia said in disbelief, more to herself than to Hajime. "Your biological make-up does not allow it. Unless you were at least part-High Entia! Or... Homs are different here."

Of course! There was still so much she didn't know about the worlds beyond hers. Who's to say that Homs in other worlds couldn't possess the abilities only the High Entia did in hers? This was exactly the sort of thing she came here to discover! This was exciting! Learning!

...But she wasn't going to learn much if he passed out from exhaustion. "Never mind. And if you insist on keeping this up, then I have no choice but to continue lending my power. I simply cannot have you fainting away, now can I?"
inspirethefire: Otherwise we're in trouble (In need of balance)

"Your--HRAAH!--concern shows you to--HYOOH!!--be a great person, Miss Antiqua. I assure you, though--RRRAAAHhhghkkffkff"

His voice is getting so wrecked hold on

"I-I assure you, though, I can handle this! I carry--used to carry out missions of this nature every day!"

He did, back home, where people were a lot more open to asking for his sort of help... but generally it was on a considerably smaller scale than this. With her aid, he could go for a long while yet, but the sun sure wasn't looking any warmer for it.
