Dorm Log
Who: All of Smash.
What: Dorm log! Summertime special.
Where: Student and Teacher dorms, and quite possibly beyond campus.
When: Approximately the latter half of July to the earliest of Augusts (25th - 15th)
Warnings: YOU KNOW YOURSELVES
We all know our characters experience downtime after classes and their busy schedules, and this is a good venue for those kinds of miscellaneous dorm-shenanigans to take place. Not only does it give your characters the easy chance to meet new people in a laid-back environment, but it's a good mechanism for strengthening CR. It's easy!
Feel free to begin in any way you please! Plan with (a) fellow player(s) if you'd like! Or, set up a thread and wait for characters to bite! Just add a thread with the room number (and date/time, if it matters) and the characters that reside there (just for reference!). You do not have to use one character's thread as a dual-purpose for both characters if you do not want to. Doesn't have to be a dorm room, either, if you have something else in mind.
And don't forget: things are getting pretty freaky! Shadow bugs are still rife around the school and city, causing all kinds of trouble, but most significantly capable of cloning people and even objects. For the remainder of July, the dimensional lines are a little blurred and causing alternate universe versions of characters to show up. But something ever curiouser has started to show up on campus... Bubbles?
Subspace bubbles? They look kinda like the ones dotting the sky... Dare ye enter?
If you do, you'll find that it... just ends up being a portal to another part of the school. Sometimes they may lead you into some part of town. Weird! Hopefully it doesn't lead you anywhere embarrassing, like in the middle of a stage play or in the bathroom of the opposite sex. That's mortifying.
-------
7/27: Shadow bugs go wild and clone a bunch of office supplies. Do shadow bugs get bored or something? Beware of that stapler you're about to pick up... It might be a shadow bug clone! They're animate office supplies all around the school. At least it's easy to tell the difference between the real things and the animate ones, because the clones are purple. Unless, of course, your supplies are all purple. Then you're in a bind...er.
Also, they cloned the Kraken fountain and now it's come to life. Hope you brought some slippers.
8/1: You know those hazy purple-black pockets of subspace that keep showing up across the sky? Today, a humongous one swallowed up the sun completely. For almost all of the daylight hours, there will be a full-on solar eclipse. Aww, were you working on that golden tan? Too bad, buddy. You're gonna have to wait until tomorrow.
8/5: A herd of Towtow show up at the school overnight and stop to rest. They'll be there, napping all day with that peaceful look adorned on their faces. How cute! But you wouldn't want to see them angry... Maybe that's why you should be careful not to wake them up.
For reference, here are the rooming arrangements.

"Hey Falcon," Ian calls from outside when he sees the light on. "Didn't know you guys were back yet--"
Boy does Ian have a funny story for you!
"I was wondering if I could borrow a few tools," he pops his head in the doorway, "I was out in the forest and..."
He sort of trails off when he actually gets a visual on who he's talking to. At least this switch is slightly less alarming than the last one he encountered. It's only a matter of days until he turns up as Ianna, isn't it?
no subject
"Are you the one who's been taking my tools?"
Because coming in here and asking for tools definitely means that Ian has been taking her tools.
no subject
"Did someone steal your tools?" Ian is very concerned by this, he steps forward into the autoshop. He's talking pretty quickly and looking all around, which from the outside looks like very suspicious behavior. In reality he is just trying to avoid looking at Falcon's new, uh, assets. He drops his hands and starts jiggling the door handle, "I can change your locks if you need me to."
no subject
There are, however, more important things to think about, and soon she's back to throwing things around.
"I can change locks. I'm wondering who's been in here taking my stuff."
no subject
"I just needed to borrow something a little more advanced than this," He pulls a normal variety screw-driver from his tool belt. "Twenty-first century tech doesn't always quite work like I want it to."
Especially on, you know, spaceships. He has no idea if this Falcon knows him or not (he's guessing not, considering his earlier encounters with the new Samus), so part of him trying to appeal to at least what he knows about the Captain: some of the things they use here are super archaic.
no subject
"Yeah, you can come sign one out."
She emphasizes that bit about tools needing to be signed out. Just in case he is, in fact, the thief.
no subject
Ian is either working on a space craft or making some very strange modifications to the air conditioning system.
no subject
Please enjoy this data pad. One electronic signature will enable him to borrow all of the high-tech screwdrivers that he desires. Falcon, however, raises an eyebrow at the mention of propulsion mechanisms, because that's definitely a project she wants in on.
"What kind of propulsion mechanism?"
no subject
no subject
"Crashed out in the woods," she raises an eyebrow. "Right?"
no subject
no subject
"Yeah, I know him. Sort of." Knew of him, sure, but she hadn't actually met the guy until his crash-landing. "He just got here a few days ago."
no subject
"We were in the Federation together," he offers mostly of an explanation of why he's helping Samus out. It's true in a broad sense. "Same platoon."
no subject
She sounds genuinely interested in this revelation, folding her arms and leaning against one of the work tables. "He always have that stick up his ass?"
no subject
no subject
She finds it slightly hard to believe that Samus has any former co-workers that he's on good terms with, but Ian seems like the kind of kid who can be on good terms with just about anyone.
"So how's that going? You helping him with his ship."
no subject
Ian begins to pack up the new very ~fance~ tools in his tool belt. These are sure to help progress. "Can't complain though, imperfect pilots keep me in business. Don't tell him I called him that."
no subject
She does enjoy taking people down pegs, after all, and telling Samus he was a shit pilot is a good way to do it. Obviously he's not actually a shit pilot, but after having made a crash landing, it's an easy enough target. She's just calling them like she sees them, of course.
"I got my start working on starships. And cars, but ships, too. Never seen tech like his, though."
no subject
"It's the same as what he'd had back in the Federation too. Guess all those years--," and a whole alternate universe, "--didn't change his taste in color schemes."
no subject
Falcon, clearly, despite her own purple, vaguely phallic ship, has absolutely no problem ripping on a spacecraft that looks like the guy's helmet.
"He's lucky the tech is impressive. Orange?"
no subject
"It had to be a matching set," he musters through peals of laughter.
no subject
"Was he really raised by birds?"
She kind of feels like that would explain a lot.
